When the bass (Squire), drums (Bruford), keys (Wakeman) and guitar (Howe) drop that monster beat @6:57, the proceeding minute and a half might just be the best jam ever laid down on vinyl. Here are four elite musicians in their prime, absolutely blowin' it up with reckless abandon, yet still tight as can be....amazing!

Yes turned my life around in a very real, profound, way. As a teen I was in a dark place… not doing anything wrong, mind you, but very depressed and not hopeful at all about the future. I dare not think of where I might have ended up. Then I bought the Close To The Edge LP, without knowing anything about it.
I had listened to early Rush at this point, like Caress Of Steel and recognized the similar song structures. So it was prog-rock, perhaps a concept album… that was my guess, and I literally bought it on that alone. It turned out to be a revelation.
I didn’t know that music like that existed… still had the rock elements but it was beautiful, majestic, hopeful. Listening to the title track was an emergent religious experience! It was, along with subsequent Yes albums I bought, a light that slowly dispelled the darkness that plagued my outlook on life. I’ve never fallen back into that gloom either.

They changed my life in a very positive way. I never listened to music the same way again.I thought they were the best band I'd ever heard and I still believe it to this very day. Now, Jon and the Band Geeks have picked up where Yes seems to have left off. Have seen them twice now and they effectively are YES. I have their new CD True it is excellent and they are releasing a DVD in march of the show I saw them do In St Charles Illinois last year. They have already released And You and I (my favorite) on UA-cam about 10 day ago.You will love it. You used the word majestic. And you and I is possibly the most majestic song I have ever heard. Jon and the geeks are doing pretty amazing things. You will love it! Here it is ua-cam.com/video/nTGt2rr0o74/v-deo.html

YES is the ultimate group of highly skilled musicians! Incredible live too! Their catalog is vast, spanning over 50 years. Based on your comments you’re likely to love music from the Progressive Rock genre. Complex arrangements of sounds, tempos and themes changing throughout a song. Yes are one of the foundations of the genre along with Genesis, King Crimson, Rush, Emerson Lake and Palmer to name a few. For a real mind blowing experience give Jon Anderson (Yes’s lead singer and co-founder) and The Band Geeks recent album a listen. Jon turned 80 a few months ago and he still sounds incredible!

As most of us Yes fans well know, Yes music requires the listener to immerse themselves, within the privacy of one's own head, and with repeated listenings; therefore to allow the music to carry you on a journey within one's own soul. With Peace and Love to all! (Michael)

I’ve loved it for about 45 years but for the last 20 it’s been my go to, shake my head, laugh out loud at the superb playing and gorgeous vocals and just overall awesomeness of this jam session of a banger.

I was obsessed with the bass the first time I heard this song too. It's why I love Yes & Rush so much. 2 of _THE_ best bass players in rock. Chris Squire & Geddy Lee. Btw, if you had a migraine, I don't know _HOW_ you did this. I used to get migraines and it hurt to _BREATHE_ much less listen to anything loud. You have my respect, for sure.

Check out Rush. Yes was one of their main influences. They make massive sound with just 3 guys. Since you like bass there's a real decent chance you'll dig them. The bass player for Yes, Chris Squire, died before they got inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. At Chris' widow's request, the bass player for Rush, Geddy Lee, handled bass duties. They played Roundabout. It's on UA-cam.

And by the way - you are absolutely correct in saying that there isn't another band that sounds like Yes. They were/are in a genre among themselves. They were more than just another prog band. They made prog accessible with their wonderful melodies and harmonies. Their transitions were extremely well crafted unlike most other prog bands that basically just patched different sections together. They incorporated classical, jazz and even country elements in unique ways which helped create their beautifully complex textures. And again as you mentioned, their songs seem shorter than they actually are, they just go flying by carrying the listener on some amazing journey. Few can do that.

Well Keely, if you love bass, you have come to the right place! Chris Squire (bass+) and Jon Anderson (vocals+) started the band in 1968. Chris has been the feature of the band ever since. Steve Howe (guitar+) is master at using "harmonics" by the way. But check your ADD, some of YESs' best epic masterpieces are 18-22 minutes long. But you will hardly notice. May I suggest the CLOSE to the Edge album? 3 songs..."Close to the Edge", "And You and I" and Siberian Khatru". Best album ever created!

Yes have such a huge body of work and have had so many line up changes and spin offs bands. It would be impossible to make recommendations for favourite tracks. I mean even if you look at the latest version under Steve Howe they are still up there. However, if push came to shove I would have to go to the very first yes song I heard back in 1974 the Gates of Delirium. Sadly your ADHD may not survive 20 mins.
