The US educational system during the 80s-90s was terrible. I am a Nigerian, when I started school, I had a hard time learning English and my teachers put me in special ED classes. One teacher called me dumb. Fast Forward 25 years later. I am Computer Engineer that design video games. Anyone who has kids make sure your kids know they are intelligent and encourage them often.

Teachers can be assholes. I was a student in the late 1990s through mid 2000s. I was lucky not to repeat grades but suffered through 1st grade through 5th grade

    • @mattiOTX
      @mattiOTX 3 роки тому +17

Yea, the 90s kinda really sucked. I have ASD and I was out in special Ed classes because they thought I was slow. Found out I'm stupid smart, I just had a terrible time with learning in classroom settings and dealing with a lot of people socially. I got into a lot of trouble acting out because at times I was being unfairly humiliated, and had enough of it. My mom ended up jumping on the school about stuff quite a bit. After the school ran IQ test they changed their attitude into more apathy so that sort of worked out somewhat but I still did not mean some of the issues were sorted out just the school was not adding onto it.

@N_JAMES but even if a kid is just dumb (and some people are just dumb) why be cruel about it. Youre a teacher youre supposed to find ways to help your students.
Obviously these problems are complex. Public school teachers are underpaid and as a result are typically not the highest calibre

Ginn Jr wasn't a bust. He just went to the wrong coaching staff is all. Imagine if he had played with Andy Reid early on and was used like Tyreek Hill.

Not a bust. If you play 14 yrs in the league you are worth it. The staffs that misused him or quit on him are busts

I agree with you 100%. A lot of times with these so called busts it's the coaches that are stubborn and won't put the players in a position to succeed at the players strength but the coaches insist on their system instead of having a game plan to use the players strength.

Great story but it's a reason he was a corner instead of a wide receiver in the beginning. He wasn't a good route runner nor did he have the best set of hands. Having said all that, his story especially as a child, is really touching and it's a great story of never giving up.

I was lucky enough to go to many of Ted Ginns college games. Every time he touched the ball whether it be a catch a kick return or punt return the crowd went silent just for a moment. As a dolphins fan for life, I was so mad when Miami picked him in the first round.
He wasn't a bust - if he was drafted in the 4th round like he should have been, he would have been remembered as a good player and great kickoff /punt returner.
People don't remember, but he wasn't really drafted as a wide out - his claim to fame was returning kicks.
Drafting a kick returner in the 1st round is worse than drafting a punter in the 1st round.

I 💯 agree with you!! I remember the day of the draft when Miami drafted him..my jaw dropped and the first words out of my mouth was ‘who is this guy??’ The coach was a (Major Fuc#%@) idiot and again I do agree you about Gin not being a bust but he really should have been drafted later in the round. I personally remembered his best kickoff/punt return was when Miami played against the Jets and returned two 100-yards for a touchdown! GoPhins#

That was on Cam Cameron ......not Ted Ginn. Cam Cameron had a plan for Ted Ginn but only coached 1 season......enter bill Parcells, and coach Tony Sparano that have a totally different offense plan.......thats why Ted Ginn struggled in miami. 2 offensive coordinators in 2 years and Chad henne as qb in year 3.....no need to say more. people love to point at Ted Ginn but can you name the QB in miami from 2007-2010? I can .....they were horrible

I'll never forget when I read a note a teacher wrote to my mom in 3rd grade, she was extremely angry that a spec ed kid spelled saw "sall" and just let loose. It wrecked me. The next year I got a tutor at Sylvan and tested into the top 30% in the nation on a national standardized test that they used back then to gauge your growth. I took the results to school and threw it in all of their faces, and I never looked back academically.....most kids like me never get what I clearly needed, one on one attention from someone who actually cares about their education

A second is a huge difference in track but I definitely agree with Ted that he could have been because he was doing track part time and was exceptional.

Please do What Happened to Santonio Holmes! From Superbowl MVP hero with one of the greatest catches of all time to getting traded and becoming a nobody just a few seasons later.

    Flemlo Raps,
I don't know if you will read this, but you tell interesting stories and really draw a picture / movie as you tell it. A blind person would enjoy what you tell. I have a very serious question. Are you a novel writer by any chance? I'm working on my first. I have my title, subject, even characters, but I'm having a hard time deciding which should come first. I don't really know where to go for assistance. I'm a paralyzed Disabled Veteran and I don't get out much.

I didn't really get into football until 2013, so I've always known him as a speedster that can take the top off of a defense and occasionally drop wide open deep passes lol
