    @seabream Рік тому

2:57 It'd be nice if they had a wash sprayer nozzle to clear it, or put it behind the rear wiper so you could clear it from inside the vehicle. I'm pretty sure there've been a few cars with the former. I know that some cars with rear view cameras that show in the rear view mirror have the camera behind the rear windscreen where the wiper will clear it, similar to a lot of front facing ADAS cameras. I'm not sure about backup cameras, though I do know of one where it's close enough to the rear wiper that someone's made an aftermarket attachment to wipe it when the wiper runs.

I looked at one of these recently at a dealer event. It's perfectly sized for our Canadian 🇨🇦 roads and the long highway drives that I do every day (170-180 miles per day). I currently own an EV6 GTLine and would trade it for this if I had the extra money.

Im living in S.Korea. Genesis/Hyundai/Kia are electrifying all their models because Korea is pushing to fully removing all IC cars and moving to EV/Hydrogen based cars. There is a strong charging infrastructure in place in S.Korea now. Also Korea has to import all their oil and gas so per liter its really expensive to fill up. Makes more sense to electrify. Given how densely packed the cities are, it will help cut down on the massive air quality problem too.
The electric GV70 is targeting people who love the design of the original GV70 and don't love the traditional EV design languages of many EV cars keep to.

Now try the Electrified G80, which has a 87 kWh, the one you thought wasn't on sale in the UK. In the six month I've had mine, I've lost count the number of times passers-by have commented on most thinking its a Bentley! So not having many on the road is a benefit!

I live in Canada where we have the perfect storm: we have cheaper than average electricity, and more expensive than average gasoline. Where I live electricity costs $12.5 per kWh, but gasoline is $182.9 a litre. I did an estimate using the Kia Soul's fuel economy vs. the Kia Soul EV's efficiency, and it the gas-powered Soul EV costs about 10x more per kilometre.

@@devonbikefilms I'm not sure how you make an electric car in that price bracket today. It would have to be pretty short-range. Which is fine, but it's also not what the market seems to be asking for right now. People want cheap electric cars, and they also want long-range EVs. Those aren't compatible ideas at this time, unfortunately.

Potential UK owners should be aware that at the moment, if you have an issue with your Genesis, the chances are it will be taken on a diesel lorry to their only service centre in Bicester. My GV60 has been there twice - once for pothole damage and once for a manufacturing defect. It’s done more miles on the back of a lorry than it has on the road.

I drove Lexus for more than 15 years before I decided to go EV and got a Hyundai Kona. The Kona is a great EV but lacks the refinement of Lexus. The Genesis brand may provide a better alternative but as you rightly say, at the moment their EV range consists of big (GV60), very big (GV70) and enormous (GV80) cars.
I'm hoping they may offer a smaller saloon format EV in the future as this would be very interesting ......

Looks like they borrowed the Audi alloys.
Manufacturers need to start letting you use the bonnet storage, there's probably 200l in there you could use without much difficulty and no one can see in, great.
I dont see that as better than the 60 but it is better looking than it's little brother and I brought a MacBook just because it was pretty so.. I probably would IF I was going to buy a car that wide but I'm not getting anything wider than a niro - exactly right about back roads; end up pooping yourself and reversing a lot and with a blind camera it's miserable.

Just waiting for something 15K less that is smaller and does 350+ miles on the motorway at 70Mph with some charge in it. Oh full charge 0 - 100% in 15 mins or less would be good for less than 30 quid would be ideal as well tyres for around 100 quid. Finally, insurance that is the same as my ICE would be perfect so no more than 130 fully comp.

@@Gillibrand65 a few tips for you for keeping it pristine.
      1) be mindful that the tailgate when opening has an arc of movement some 8 inches beyond the bumper easy to park too close to a EV charging sign post and have I clip it while opening!
      2) The exterior A,B and C pillar plastics are so delicate and will scratch very easily during cleaning. Ensure only the finest and most delicate cleaning products and techniques for those parts of the car. I’ve declined to take mine even to a public hand car wash facility - I do it all myself.
      3) The door release is such that the surround material is the suede/alcantara just a tip the repeated compression of this material with the back of the hand and the transfer of hand oils/lotions can cause a discolouration patch immediately adjacent to the handle- I’d be mindful of ensuring you only touch the release and the actual door grip which is a much more durable leatherette and aluminium fascia.
      4) The aluminium trim on the door and trunk sills are incredibly easy to scratch a trip to avoid children treading on them when entering and exiting the cabin and a tip to avoid dragging anything over the tailgate aluminium trim.
      5) The light colour of the seat belts can discolour really easily - just a tip to be mindful of kids and adults grubby fingers.
      6) if you’ve got a light colour interior you may want to get some additional carpets mats while we are still in Winter. The official UK heavy duty rubber mats are not available yet - so you may need some small generic ones or improvise from old carpet cuttings in the interim to persevere the beautifully clip in place edge to edge mats it comes with.
      Enjoy!
