The ending scene describes the spiritual journey of Pocahontas back to her home.
0:45 She senses the breath of her homeland, leaves and dies.
1:55 She is depicted like a daughter of trees and rivers whose released soul joyfully returns to the waters and woods of her homeland.
2:28 Her husband and son follow her, leaving the old world with setting sun.
The journey ends with reaching the untamed, fresh and lively waters of the new world and finding rest for the soul in the whispering of the woods

Richard Wagner had an uncanny knack of composing the most epic music ever written. Sublime.

I can confidently say that this (movie) took me to a place I only dreamt about, what pre-european America would have been like. Very moving and keeps me coming back for more.

There is no superior way to express the unbelievable quality of humanity and the world perceived by it than music.

Having produced the Wagner "Ring" a number of times I really can't do this. It just doesn't make sense and new music was required. The image of the gods and the rainbow bridge are distinct if you know Wagner. My understanding of the Rolfe - Pocohantas relationship is that he thought he'd save her from perdition by marrying and civilising her. Not all that romantic. He appears to have been a dry and unloving man. "Vorspiel" means introductory and yet this was the end. She died at 21 and her child was a mere two years old at the time.
