If all syllables start with a consonant then what do you do with words that start with vowels? For example Adam, or Adonai? Do those words not have syllables that start with vowels?
Shalom Brother, I am from India this video is very nice and helpful thank you very much. I want to buy a Hebrew language book with full basics, fundamentals (vowels, dagesh, shewa, Accent marks etc), grammar and vocabulary pls suggest me the best and easy learning book, thanking you.
Did you eventually work it out? He is working through the Alan Ross textbook. If you haven't yet, you could buy that book and follow along with these videos.
I don't believe that the old Hebrew has no vowel because the first letter in Hebrew the Aleph is sound "a". For example: Aleph Bet Aleph or ABA means father. The letter Hei, Vav/ Waw and Yod are vowel sounds indicator in old Hebrew (Hei "ah or eh", Vav/ Waw "o or u" and Yod "e or i "). For example: YHVDH or YeHuDaH, so the Vav/Waw and Hei transformed to vowel sound Yeh(u)D(ah). DYN or DiN (law or judgement), the Yod transformed to vowel sound "i" for D(i)N. MVT or MoT (death), the Vav transformed to vowel sound "o" for M(o)T.

Adam starts with Aleph which is technically a silent consonant.
