The Universal Audio UAD-2 Live Rack is a 16-channel MADI effects processor that allows you to mix live sound with the power of UAD Powered Plug-ins. Connect it to any MADI-capable digital console, and you'll be able to tap into industry-standard plug-ins like Antares Auto-Tune Realtime - or any UAD Powered Plug-ins in your UAD account - with no latency. You can save plug-in configurations as Snapshot files for fast recall, and you can even combine up to four UAD-2 Live Rack units for up to 64 channels of UAD plug-in processing.
AUD$7000 for the Live Rack, then you need a AUD$1500 MADI optical to coax converter for DiGiCo consoles. Then the computer to host the plugins...expensive option for 16 channels.
good on you, Mitch, for saying "gooey" rather than Gee You Eye :)
Still limited to 4 sharks... Why don't you built units having more processing power.
Do you see how little plugins they are using? Its already at 92%, with Waves you would be under 30%
Well - That's like comparing a Fiat to a Ferrari - Waves are nothing compared to UAD
@@HecchiOfficial That doesnt take away the fact that this thing is overpriced and underpowered.
Nathaniel Johnson Jr Depends on the specs of the PC but you are right.
For those looking at this in the future, this is a DSP rack, so the host computer actually doesn’t matter. The plugins are processed on the UAD Live.
With new processors coming out this year, you can’t argue this hypothesis. UAD took the wrong path by betting on dsp paths vs process power. With so many great plugins that were causing cpu issues. 2020 the game is going to shift even more so to heavy cpu plugins not being a problem. UAD did great the last decade but I’m afraid major paradigm shift is in the cards. Not to mention that most emulation was the forefront by non other than yours truly. Thanks for the great product but the end is insignificant because your vision wasn’t.
While I do believe that UAD has some interesting plugs and I am a fan...I have problems with this device. 1. Why madi over dante? 2.This demo shows dsp is at 92% with not many plugs inserted, but even if I only wanted it on my money channels (which is how most would use it), this is really not enough. They should change from using shark dsp because they are underpowered. 3. This doesnt explain if you can use a satellite to boast dsp count, but again at this price point you shouldn't have to. 4. If you already own a 8ch uad interface, couldn't I technically do the samething here with comparable results, and as a trade off still be able to record, and monitor?
I’m okay with paying double the price of a waves system not 10 times the price.
64 channels of waves = $1500
64 channels of UAD live = $12,000
And for that moron replying to every comment: if UAD is a Ferrari waves is a Corvette ZR1, not a fiat.
Nice!
I have a soundcraft vi3000, trying to be able to insert plug ins to the channels and control it on the console. How does that work? Do i have to jump back and forth from the software? I dont want to do any mixing on the computer just the desk.
Nice
Can you run this product with Qlab or a DAW project file containing time coded automation data??
Thanks v much
Hello, Sam! The UAD-2 Live Rack is an external effects processor that sends and receives digital audio via the MADI Protocol. It is not an interface in and of itself. So long as you are able to get audio in and out of your software of choice and you have a way of sending audio over the MADI protocol, this unit will work for you. It is not partial to the software itself.
Thanks for the interest!

Show 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
How do i connect the midas? I cant see any Madi connector on the midas.
klark teknik DN9650 with a madi card. converts AES50 to madi optical.
sorry thats for the pro series. for the m32 series its a klark teknik dn32 card
Is this product compatible with A&H QU32?
Hey, Tito! The QU32 isn't inherently MADI compatible and would require external format conversion. So it is possible, but probably more complicated than you are hoping. Feel free to get in touch with me and we can talk solutions! Thanks for your interest.

man... so so so so so so so so so too expensive
It's actually extremely cheap given the hardware sims you can run that would cost 1o times the amount.
The Sexican [official] A Uad octo costs about 1250€ in the EU so 2 would cost 2500€... well I don’t what you mean with cheap.
Seems like the price on this unit is 2x what it deserves!?! Typical UA. Then you need to buy all the overpriced plugins...
They're actually underpriced in my opinion given the original hardware it reproduces - nothing comes close to UAD
I have a second hand unit available for sale if anyone is interested.
All I have to say is this.... confused!!!!
They must have hit their head. Waves comes in at a much lower price and integrates better with Digital mixers. I run the Midas32, X-WSG, MultiRack and Impact Server. I can run up to 32 channels with more plugins then this overpriced rack. This is a total disappointment especially for the price and lack of real processing.
Well - That's like comparing a Fiat to a Ferrari - Waves are nothing compared to UAD
Waves plugins have always been cheaper compared to the UAD.
The Sexican [official] Right... UAD is nothing in comp with Waves bc the waves plugins are slightly off but have a more unique sound that way... and as you would care or even hear the difference in a full mix...
