Interesting to have such a chat about the show. Hope they deliver but counting for the passion they transmit to us it feels they will Fingers crossed cause dune is having a big momento, excited to see it grows more than the books.
When the first trailer for this series dropped I heard one legitimate criticism of it that I can’t dislodge from my mind because it feels like a missed opportunity, and that is the series looks the same as Denis’ Dune movies despite the two stories occurring 10,000 years apart. It would’ve been a really neat opportunity to illustrate the cultures of the various houses early in the Landsraad’s history. I can’t imagine our own society looking even remotely similar 10,000 years from now considering how it looked 10,000 years in the past.
You’re missing one thing… without further tech development, which is one of their religious laws throughout the Universe, it would look the same. They cannot further develop thinking machines. We think of the changes over the last century but forget that the world was pretty much the same prior to the Renaissance.
I am getting excited about the show. I enjoy Perri's questions always, but they always hit me like Sean's from Hot Ones. The delivery always seems a bit off. Such meaty and interesting questions. Maybe its because they are always short on time and ask them so quickly. Thank you for the interview.
I think the adaptions after Messiah needs to stay a series… the material is not plot driven! There are no great climaxes. It needs to be paced right so all the worlds can open up. I honestly think movies after Messiah will get weird and ruin the legacy that DV created.
@tiah1927 I understand your point, but I disagree with you about the plots of the sequels not being guided by the plot because they always have a very specific objective in each book and everything can be adapted if there is a good script and that will invariably discard some elements so that the film works.
I’m so in love with her passion! It feels matched to Denis and that makes me pumped!!!

If the series is a success or have success in adapting the prequel material, I really want him to direct the adaptations after Messiah.

A lot of people are already disappointed with the first episodes!
