I think it's basically a cut-down version of a Luckfox Pico albeit one with no pins and Micro SD Card slot.

Not to quibble, but a Luckfox is not really like "a fraction of the cost". At $25, this kit is only about $10 or less more expensive.
the only issue i see with this and the luckfox ones is that they don't have wifi passthrough like what you'd get with a raspberry pi

You won’t be able to update it though because no sd card slot I would get a raspberry pi instead you can get older models for a similar price

The latest version of goldhen has a different stage2, I don't know what will happen if I want to update to a new version of goldhen that has different stage 1 and stage 2.

Cheers for the video, for a complete "kit" it looks ok, however personally buy whatever device, program it yourself with the many tutorials available on YT, save some money and donate the rest to the Flow. I've used a N64 cartridge housing for mine ;)
How much is this
The thing is, for my country at least if you buy luckfox and then the ethernet cable, then usb C to usb A cable and a USB drive from what I saw it's more expensive in total than that. Oh, I forgot the SD card that you need for luckfox.
So if you only need the board and you have everything else already then yeah, buy the luckfox, if not, you can buy this kit and update goldhen if you want and that's it.

No, connect ethernet cable to ps4 and then connect usb to a port on your ps4

No, It doesn't need internet. You just connect to the ethernet port and power it using another usb port. Then connect the usb thumb drive that comes with the device that will have the GoldHEN file on it. That's only needed for the first try and GoldHEN will then be installed on your internal storage. Watch the video on the product page. It's very easy.
