Domestic is the most dangerous call you’ll ever go on. Even more so than active shooter. Active shooter you know what you’re dealing with. DV you have no idea what’s waiting on the other side of that door.

This why I like Nys. We make summary arrests. No arrest warrants necessary. We only deal with the detectives on a dvo if the injuries are severe and to just get the suspect debriefed for other crimes. Patrol cops 👮 handle their own investigations if the suspect is present and can be arrested on or near by the scene after a canvass.

I’m thinking this is my career and I’m gonna start training so I can move to the department I want. What changes have you made to prepare?
I would like to view more of the class on how to testify in court and preparing your case. I was curious how that side of being a police officer is…. Those details aren’t the ones you think about.
