Martinelli was at a tight angle. So Sanchez had the majority right side covered anyway. The only way Martinelli gets something out of it was the near post. And our gullible keeper fell for it.
I am not sure, you understand goal keeping, Eto score same at champions League final against Arsenal, and there are many more of such that has been scored against top goa keepers, so is he to move to far to the angle or cover the open post where Martinneli has options of another player. I am sure if Sanchez concede the goal that Raya did today, definitely you would have said worse. You aren't a baller and not fair. Don't talk shit about Sanchez or my team players abeg
@ I played in goal for 25 years. I managed to reach a reasonable standard and I can tell you the only thing worse than being beat on your near post is to let the ball go through your legs.
Palmer was not expected to start the match. Instead, he should have taken on players like Joao Félix. What's more, ga is no good against the big clubs. The coach has to stop being dependent on Palmer because it's very dangerous for the team.
And open the big post down with Martinneli having opinion to pass to another of his player standing alone. You are not a fair dealing person and not with right way to judge matters, don't look for who to blame, why are two Arsenal players alone with only him. You are full of false comments
Everybody talking about how few points separate us from 10th and 13th. We’re 11 games into the season. How much of a gap do you expect? 3rd is a good position for now.
We need him back in the team permanently, he takes the pressure off Cole palmer being the only play maker, enzo was great today very impressed. We need to stick with him and give him more game time to gain confidence.
I think playing a derby where the opposition has been in rough form is dangerous, it hypes them up for a result, and with their star players returning for the match I really didn't think we would even get a point from the game, so I'm pleased. Finishing could have been better, might have been 3 points, but I'm sure arsenal fans are saying the same for their side
I think today we can say enzo got it wrong.. Noni played too long (I think it's time neto starts right and mudryk gets back into the first team/unless Sancho comes back) ... Palmer was burnt, we need Felix in and nkunku took to long to get in... these are players that got it in them to turn things around when needed... neto brilliance saved us today...
Who will defend like Noni if Neto is there, did Mudryk do the defensive job like Neto on the left, Noni cover so well for our 2, and he play well upfront, you guys didn't talk about the use of double 4 with just two defensive players and not an 8 that can switch to attack and also fall back, Latvia helped Chelsea with the injury else, it would have been 1 nil and all points to Arsenal
Uncomfortable conversation about Enzo Maresca game management in big games. It's being questionable. I forgave him against City because it's was City. However, in the past three games his game management is questionable and being polite here.
I watched the game at the bridge. One thing that's very evident watching live, is Madueke's defensive game. It's very underrated. It was very obvious that defensively the side madueke was on struggled a lot when he was taken out. Yes he needs to do better attacking wise but defensively, he did a massive job. Mudryk did very bad defensively. James unfortunately looked very off and very SLOW. I really don't know how he gets his place back from Gusto
Hi Yan. Last week I said Sanchez wasn’t at fault for the penalty. This week I’d say Sanchez is far more at fault than last week. He keeps trying to unnecessarily guessing on getting the “sweaty” ball rather than just defending his goal and trusting his defenders. He got caught out for it a little later in the game too but caught himself and made the save
This is where i have a little problem with. Liverpool, United and Arsenal took him out of the game by either crowding the middle or putting a man on him. Whenever this happens, he moves wide a leaves the 10 spot. As a manager what do you do? Take Noni out and put Felix in that 10 spot. Felix is a better dribbler in tight areas and more experienced in big games. Palmer's marker can't follow him wide. If he does, good for us. If he doesn't, Palmer cooks from RW
The #3 spot feels good because after Tottenham there aren't many high ranking teams to play. On a different note, the water is kinda muddy regarding the best 11. However, I am definitely in favour of rotation for tactical and form purposes
I believe this issue with Cole and noni is the fact that maresca is plauing Cole on the left pocket these past 2 matches and I believe they both look better closer together with Cole in the right pocket
Arsenal's goal was mostly on Madueke for me. He was jogging back while there was a 2v1 at the back post. Even after arsenal gets it at the back post there's no change of pace to get there. He put in some good crosses but defensively he can't switch off like did. Neto worked so hard all game and never gave up or switched off. No GK is saving that when it's blasted up like that, i don't blame Sanchez.
Robert Snchez could have long come out to block Arsenal Martineli from shooting that ball in the corner he left open. We have noticed in many occasions Sanchez has failed to stop even come out to stop balls coming from corners of the field to goal. Enzo Fernadez just came in and made his first pass that resulted to Neto scoring Chelsea's only goal. Madueke's system of constantly wanting to run his balls to the end before shooting or making a cross ball instead of looking up to where his players are waiting for the crossing is killing Chelsea's chances of scoring goals.
My opinion is that if Sanchez had narrowed the space between him and the post, forcing Martinelli to opt for the far post he would have had a great chance of stopping the shot
So these are my opinions based on this game but also I think it's a good point to reflect on our season thus far. Noni madueke is a player I genuinely thought was a uncovered diamond, so potch never played him I was always like wtf. However I read something recently (I don't know how true it was) about how potch didn't think noni actually used his head and based on tonight's game and the season so far there's definitely truth to that. I think it's a complacency thing, however noni is one world class performance from pedro neto when he plays on the right from being dropped. Because other wise maresca wouldn't of subbed him off. Second of Cole palmer. He is top 5 in the world (I don't care what anyone says) however I think we need to start subbing him off, in no way am I saying he's not a big game player. However nkunu and felix offer other solutions. Also I really don't understand why he's playing in the left pocket when his best position is in the right pocket. Third of all jackson, I love nicolas JACKson however there isn't alot improvement let's be honest. And this is actually where I think we should sign a striker who's at his level or maybe just abit more better, like a gimenez from psv or or maybe even joao pedro from Brighton ( yes I know he got reece james sent off). Lastly enzo, it's just not gonna work out. I think it's a mixture of system, personal issues and confidence. What we need is an 8 who can actually receive the ball back to goal and pass as well. Overall I'm not upset and quite impressed with us however improvement are needed. Up the chels.
I agree with all your points but you and I both know Enzo isn't leaving the team any time soon, and using off the bench as helped us alot because Lavia and Caicedo are the same type player and Enzo offers something else, if you haven't noticed without Enzo, Palmer has to drop deeper because Lavia or Caicedo don't connect passes to the attacker from the defenders but Enzo offers the passing forward we need especially in transition. I'm in no way saying Enzo has been good this season but he is definitely need in the team. Palmer should never have to collect the ball deep because we need him to have his touches in the opponent's half and box. But overall I'm content with the season so far. UTC!!!
I’m not gonna lie Colwill needs to learn to be more aware of the offside line , better passing decisions and stop tryna do dumb stuff to slow down the game he always try to get in the keepers way or hold on to a player that sometimes cost us cause we end up conceding a lot in set pieces
How can you blame Colwill for playing them onside when three other Chelsea defenders behind him can see where he is, and yet still decide to try and play the arsenal forwards offside? It's on those other defenders as well, so they're collectively at fault for a lack of communication. Sanchez can't be expected to save that, so he's also not solely to blame. Ultimately, I think we need to figure something out when Palmer is being marked out the game by these top teams, or any team with the players capable of marking him out. He's been ineffectual, but it's not all his fault. Maybe he has to be used as a decoy, but unfortunately that involves someone else stepping up. Whatever the case, it's a slight concern and something for Meresca to figure out.
Put him back to RW. He's more unpredictable like last season when he's coming in from the rightside. Play Neto LW. Nkunku is being disrespected imo. Too good to be coming on the 80th minute. I'd play him CAM.
@Iamwhatyousayiam yeah, I like that idea! It's probably time to drop Noni anyway, and if Palmer is getting all the attention on one side of the pitch it should open up space for someone like Nkunku, or even Felix. But either way, it's a good way to get Nkunku or Felix more PL mins. It's definitely something we should do, not just when we're chasing a game we're behind in, but when we're actually going after the win.
Sanchez leaves a massive gap at his near post, of course he can be expected to save it. Cover the near post and have the attacker have to go across goal, its absolute goalie basics.
Lavia controls the midfield better and doesn't make mistakes, but he is also not very dynamic. Our creativity has been much worse since he has joined. and the cole palmer thing is obvious, for some reason maresca decided to play him on the left for the last 3 games.
I feel Maresca is afraid or too slow to make tactical changes. The Mudryk and Enzo change shud have come earlier. Playing Neto on the right will make him cut in to have shots on goals. And also we need a back up plan. Teams already know how to play against us. Which is to mark out Palmer. Madueke have been disappointing since his hat trick against Wolves. Where is Sancho?
We're 3rd in the first half of the season having already faced Arsenal, City & Liverpool.. it's not a bad place to be tbh. This game could have gone either way, lots of chances missed for both sides.
I would like to see Maresca at some point take off Noni for either Nkunku or Felix. If palmer is being man marked move him to the right wing with either of the other 2 playing the ten.
Nkunku and Felix are too good to not play in the Prem. Also the game called for something different than Palmer and Jackson. Noni isnt doing enough. Palmer is still dangerous on the right and we can fit Nkunku or Felix behind Jackson.
There's no way Sanchez gave away the first post like that. Enzo should leave now, Romeo will keep him out. Maudke needs to be benched, move Neto on the Right. Nkunku should've been brought in sooner along withe Felix. Either move jackson to the left or take him off for Nkunku. Palmer should've been subbed off. I think he needs to rested.
16:14 Arteta does this thing where he’s say a player is a doubt or hasn’t trained.. saka, rice all season, then they’ll start that game.. think he does it to throw the other teams game plan off and I think maresca did the same thing for this game with Palmer
Why Noni played instead of Nkunku? OK, Maresca loves Jackson, so Nkunku won't play upfront, but why not try him in the Palmer role and put Palmer on the right, allowing him to be less easily marked ? Anyway, Noni has been disappointing in the last few games. Neto is a gem though, as are Lavia and Caicedo, wow!
Madueke was literally starring two arsenal attackers being free and decided not to get close to them, and not for the first time this season (obviously Sanchez should have done better in the near post, but still, colwil and Madueke fcked up that first)
I think Maresca should change the tactics, invert the LB to play DM with Moi. The Cole should be on the RHS of the 10 so Enzo or even Felix can play the LHS. With Neto and Mudrky or Sancho on the week. Noni is done. Needs to find that team hunger.
Correction palmer was not marked out of the game he was just not good today. Hope maresca gets bold enough to sub him in games like this and the one at man utd bcoz the depth for his position is quality (joao and nkunku)
Neto should start on RW. Maresca should come up with a new formation/style to accommodate Felix and Nkunku. These 2 have been criminally overlooked. Why not sub Jackson and Palmer if they ain’t at their best.
I understand why we should keep Palmer on cause he make something out of nothing but I wonder if Cole should be taken off for Nkunku as opposed to Nico in games like this, especially with Christo and Nicos linkup
1st off i dont trust Michael Oliver since we squared off against Man City for FA cup, i agree with subbing Felix for Palmer , Noni needs to either be precise with his shots or just pass the ball , he holds the ball to long and then defenders are on him and the play is lost. The 4-1-4-1 formation is a plus , Enzo and Palmer more forward , he can come back to support Moises if need be , plus Moises wud have support from full backs
Sanchez should do better at his near post. Sadly, I think our progress will be stunted by the fact that he is an average prem keeper at best. Lucky we have 87 goal keepers on the books
Lets stay humble and not act like we spoilt brats we are not yet completely out of the mud but we should be thankful for the players and managers efforts UTC
We are not using felix and Nkunku properly ... madueke needs to fall off, Neto & Sanchez is more effective ... inverting has produced zero goals, i luv gusto but his attack sucks, he is running himself into the ground for no results ... i think the formations / personnel are not being optimised (with that said difficult games recently also) i just feel like we can win these but aren't tweeking just right
One thing I honestly can take or should say now I understand is that these players are young🤦♂️ not only by age but mentally as well. It's NOT AN EXCUSE. But clearly, they only perform when they know their starting position is under threats. E.g. Madueke, Jackson & (to a degree) Enzo Fernandez. For Enzo, at times, I do understand, but one thing I've learned is that they do fit as a per, but Enzo is not defensively complimentary to caicedo efforts. Noni has too much ego and is not showing the quality on the pitch. Neto is miles ahead of him and deserves to start on the right flank. Jackson is mobile even in games of aggressive nature. The likes of Osimhen or Haaland in this game would free up palmer a lot more. I know Fernandez is the one who connects the attack and defense, but Jackson is the one who needs to be more physical and attract the CB and holding mids of the opposition towards him. This will give Palmer enough space to play as the second man. As for palmer facts are facts you can't be playing 90 minutes after 90 minutes in all games, even with the rest, if his being man marked Enzo Maresca needs to be either brave enough to sub him off or shift himnon the side RW and bring in another creative (Felix). Gusto is inverting into mid field, which, without Enzo on the pitch he seems to get higher up🤷♂️ apparently. This just shows how defensive the pairing of lavia and caicedo. With a lead on our side, a lavia and caicedo pairing would be 🔥🔥 but without a lead, we need enzo. It's good to see James💙 our captain given the license to get up on the pitch a bit. With a fast-paced winger like pedro, they'll cook on the right-hand side. I DON'T RATE SANCHEZ 🚮
Until we stop playing a non dangerous player in that 10 spot we won’t progress. Palmer is more than a moments player, we’ve seen that. Enzo or Reece moving into that spot next Palmer would have made it impossible to mark Palmer out of the game. The problem is if Palmer gets marked out of the game by Partey then that opens up space for Gusto as Rice has to mark space to cut passing lanes. But all teams know Gusto doesn’t score or assist from that part of the field. Gusto or Lavia need to make way for the sake of balance.
Palmer is going to continue to ghost in big games and Jackson is pants against big teams. Once we get a proper number 9 and get rid of Sanchez, we should be good to go😊
Cucu and Reece need to start, Madueke just got his job taken by Neto

Martinelli was at a tight angle. So Sanchez had the majority right side covered anyway.
The only way Martinelli gets something out of it was the near post. And our gullible keeper fell for it.
No keeper should be done on his near post.
@@daveperry3485go watch matches and see how it is done
@ I played in goal for 25 years. I managed to reach a reasonable standard and I can tell you the only thing worse than being beat on your near post is to let the ball go through your legs.
Palmer was not expected to start the match. Instead, he should have taken on players like Joao Félix. What's more, ga is no good against the big clubs. The coach has to stop being dependent on Palmer because it's very dangerous for the team.
The main problem no one is speaking about is that we have 9 freaking goalkeepers but the only decent one plays at Strasbrough.
Pedro Netò was brilliant!! Man of tha match, he's makin tha position his own..
Cole would've been subbed off, he was so quiet throughout the game.
near post should be covered the job it to make sure you can make the save and trust your defence to cover the cut back 9:10
If the striker is that deep in the box the keeper should be hugging the post he has no excuse !!!!
I don’t get what Maresca is trying to do playing Cole Palmer off the left half space. It’s so frustrating to watch
In the second half this game screaamed for Enzo Fernandez
We need him back in the team permanently, he takes the pressure off Cole palmer being the only play maker, enzo was great today very impressed. We need to stick with him and give him more game time to gain confidence.
Still a step behind the big guys in this league, but obvious growth from last year
Manager hates Nkunku and Felix, I just want to see them play in the prem
If Palmer was taken out of the game, why did Joao Felix not come on? He could have made a big difference.
@prettieface2000 yes because Noni is such an elite on the defensive end.. bro take several fucking seats at the back of the class
You're always so balanced, Yan; really like your analysis!
Uncomfortable conversation about Enzo Maresca game management in big games. It's being questionable. I forgave him against City because it's was City. However, in the past three games his game management is questionable and being polite here.
he is a championship manager thats all
Cole should've came off. Pedro has definitely claimed the RW now + Enzo starting to play with more confidence. Happy with that
Maresca took too long to sub Jackson and palmer. Nkunku and felix should have come on earlier
We could have if Maresca has changed earlier
Felix didn't come on.
Boy have I been waiting for this video hello yannick
Very very safe substitutions today. Needed to get Felix and Nkunku in sooner.
And Neto needs to start on the Right especially once Sancho is back
I watched the game at the bridge.
Jackson and Palmer have an off day in front of goal, yet Nkunku and Felix hardly get a sniff. Poor tactical decisions with subs
Levi, so much hype, but does anyone remember any game with Levi playing like actual world class defender?? Because i don't
Neto should have been MOTM. Pure class today.
I can see Maresca letting Felix and the like play and poss change the midfield against Leicester and Southampton
UTC!!!
Gusto as an "elite B teamer"... I think that's a pretty fair take from Yan. Wish he could bag a goal. Just always ends up over the crossbar.
Just look at the table. Yan. Looks bloody good to me at moment! I would have taken that alll day long at the beginning of the season.
If you say it’s a +ve Wes Fofana and co leak goals in every PL game. The defending put our top 4 in jeopardy.
It's absolutely a howler from Sanchez!! Hoe do you get beaten at your near post. He's atrocious!!
Proper atmosphere today chaps. Let’s do this in all our games.
Noni needs to sit out a game or 2. He's been complacent ever since that Forest game.
Looks like Lavia lost the ball that led to the Martinelli’s goal!
Arsenal’s goal, have another look and try and spot Noni ambling back and leaving Martinelli all alone at the back post.
Colwill has been losing his head a lot lately, we saw it a lot against Liverpool
I would like to see Maresca at some point take off Noni for either Nkunku or Felix. If palmer is being man marked move him to the right wing with either of the other 2 playing the ten.
I’m absolutely fuming 😡 I wanted to beat arsenal we never beat arsenal
Cole Palmer has to learn how to play big games this season.... Enzo didn't need to start Palmer too
I do enjoy the bringing on fernandez. I think we'd be ok to drop madueke, start sancho, why we bring on mudryk i do not know
Nkunku and Felix are too good to not play in the Prem.
Why is Madueke getting more chances than others? I think we should play Neto on the right, and Sancho/Nkunku/Mudryk on the left
Hail your continued CFC good work....
We need to get Fernandez back into the starting lineup. My opinion is to put Palmer on a wing with Neto on the other side, and Enzo in the 10.
did you see the chance enzo get against man utd to win us the game I don't want to see him play there!!!
@Quan_O.G did you see his assist against Arsenal? Come from that central 10 position 😉
We'd be in 2nd place if we didn't have Robert Sanchez at goal. Could have won both of these last two with a proper #1 at the net
Nkunku has to start, id start this 11
Jackson
Neto Nkunku Palmer
Lavia Caicedo
Cucu Colwill Fofana James
Sanchez
Madueke was literally starring two arsenal attackers being free and decided not to get close to them, and not for the first time this season (obviously Sanchez should have done better in the near post, but still, colwil and Madueke fcked up that first)
11:45 yea, James will have not only goals. But better touches
I’m going to make a bold prediction that Madueke will lose his spot to Neto, and Mudryk and Sancho will battle it out for LW.
Can't lie Palmer seems to disappear during big games we need him to step up a bit more I wanted to see Felix brought on for him
We are not using felix and Nkunku properly ... madueke needs to fall off, Neto & Sanchez is more effective ... inverting has produced zero goals, i luv gusto but his attack sucks, he is running himself into the ground for no results ... i think the formations / personnel are not being optimised (with that said difficult games recently also) i just feel like we can win these but aren't tweeking just right
One thing I honestly can take or should say now I understand is that these players are young🤦♂️ not only by age but mentally as well.
You could build 3 cities between Sanchez and his near post. Poor positioning.
Starting Madueke and inverting Gusto is moronic. Humoring two scrubs ain’t worth it. Palmer right channel and Neto on the right, period.
Sanchez looked void of confidence today. He looked slow to react and I think a confident keeper stops that goal
Palmer is going to continue to ghost in big games and Jackson is pants against big teams.
Once we get a proper number 9 and get rid of Sanchez, we should be good to go😊
Another installment of why we need a new keeper in Jan/Summer - he should NOT be being beaten near post like that
Man I feel Sanchez should have got that ball away from entering the net.
SAME STORY NO TOP STRIKER WE HAVE TO BUY ONE ...THEY MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN THESE GAMES
