Wow, it's been over a year now since I asked you to take on this musical journey.
Today, I'm still just as hyped to see you enjoying this band so much, as I was when I first watched your reaction on your patreon channel all that time ago!
I actually rewatched the unedited videos many times. Seeing you put in all those clips from the Forest Documentary now, made me really happy! Fantastic editing!! :D

Here's my take on the Forest Seasons Album:
The Spring is the beginning, where everything is in hibernation or dead, which then leads to awakening/re-emerging. You can hear these two phases in the song itself. To me the song is well composed in a sense that imagining it's the first song you hear it slowly builds up your mood at the beginning and then it energizes you at the middle part with the awesome guitar intro to the massive orchestration, which makes you realize that you've finally awaken to listen rest of the album.
The Summer is a bit more mysterious, rhythmic and folk-y, which resembles summer in my opinion. It's about having fun and enjoying when there's light and warmth, all creatures are present and it's all just a big festival with a bit rain here and there. The forest that weeps is to me how it feels to be in a forest after rain, which makes it all glimmer in the last remaining bits of sunlight before the night arrives.
The Autumn is when the night has truly arrived. It is DARK, heavy and full of death as nature loses its colors, shifting from green to yellow, withering. The song is not suitable for everyone as it has many old black metal elements in it, which might make it a bit overwhelming to listen, but in the end there's beauty in the melody and lyrics. Much like death at first seems a terrible thing, it is also a force that breeds new life and grants eternal rest.
The Winter captures the element of acceptance and the relief that you're still alive. After death there's silence and coldness, and the only thing that these forces give you is snow. Snow is beautiful, lifeless, cold and moldable. It's like the stuff of dreams that appear when your reality is shattered. To me it's the best song in the album and one of Jari's masterpieces. Every time I hear it I get goosebumps and shed a few tears.

The subtitles for Jari say "Terrible. What was that?", "Way off", "You fools" and the band response supposedly was "We're sorry".
In reality Jari said "Good, the melody was correct to every note.", "... the rythm as a bit off", "... but it doesn't matter." and the band said "Well, lets try once again."
I guess the rythm being incorrect wouldn't matter because it can be fixed in post-production.

The entire Forest Seasons album is an underrated masterpiece! It is excellent in all aspects. its complex, heavy, beautiful and breathtaking!

I love how Wintersun has been my obsession since 2015. And then I started to listen to them less and less because I started to discover more and more unique music, while Jari hasn't released anything new in 5 years, which ended up in me not listening to their music in like a year, and now I hear their songs back again and I get goosebumps and emotional again like I'm hearing it all the first time.
I just love them all. Wou, what a f**kin band, wish to see them live.

This album REALLY takes you on a journey. I can picture and feel myself being in each of these seasons and settings.
Besides the choir vocals, the really low growls (in this song and the other where there are low growls) aren't Jari's either, they were by the bass player Jukka and I think Teemu sung some too.. But yeah, Jari is a wizard, I love his magic.
I might be insane but this song in particular reminded me of Bathory.

I was a day 1 supporter of crowdfunding for The Forest Seasons. I am so proud to have been part of making the album a reality and bringing new fans into the fold.
It's actually their third album.🤘🏻 I love all three of them.😍
Several geological eras ago, in band class...I played the flute and loved ripping through the Four Seasons. My prep for Wintersun.

In the very heart of the universe, there is this song. It perfectly captures the feeling and emotion of both seasons, winter and spring, and the cathartic transition between them. Every year, after the never-ending months of coldness and darkness that make one feel more or less desperately dead ("Will this be forever?!" in the lyrics), the feeling one gets at the first rays of sunlight and the first warmer weather is as rewarding as the outbreak of the latter part of this song. That is the musical shift which you also recognized and mentioned :) After the harshness and repetitiveness of the first part, suddenly the song is alive with rich and vibrant melodies, faster rhythm and an all-compassing feeling of power, energy and life - just like one feels at Spring. From all the songs that Jari has graced us with so far, this is his definite magnum opus for me.
Glad to see you again in the comment section of a reaction to our favorite song my man. Perfect way to describe it btw. Really underrated song imo and (like others Wintersun songs) it needs to be heard a few more times to appreciate all the elements on it. First time for me it was an amazing song but now it is God tier, masterpiece.

I was smiling through the whole video. I cannot wait for the rest of the seasons!! I feel the first part of the song portrays a darker atmosphere, as the world of nature is blooming (a more black metal feeling). Then, the next part, which starts with the sun shining through the woods, has a more vivid and brighter representation of the woods coming to life, since the flora and fauna is coexisting on that world. On top of that, the song is arguably a metaphor for the birth of the human race, and how we have evolved throughout time. Nice vid!!

This captures also northern spring... early spring can be really harsh and it turning to sweet summer. People are also turning from winter depression into summer mania.

I like that you put the Vivaldi comparison at the start-ish. When you put the great classical tracks next to the outstanding melodical metal tracks today. You do really see where the music has evolved into. That said, this album is so good it's stupefying, looking forward to the next parts.

Thanks, another brillant reaction video. That was Jari's problem, he fell out with Nuklear Blast, wanted to be independent and then was hardly noticed worldwide.
Some of the band members actually live near me. They're from Arnhem. At least I was told so. I live next to the German border east of Arnhem.

I think you know by now but, i think u where mixing álbums here. Wintersun (fisrt album named as the band) is the one jari did by himself but the drums. This is full alignment (jari, jukka, kai and temu)
You are a little mistaken! True the first and self title album was all played by Jari except for the drums that Kai played. On Time I Kai played the drums too. The third album, that is The Forest Seasons, this one in the reaction, was all played, recorded and produced by Jari except for the choirs, the low growls (Jukka) and I think Teemu sang also a few things. Everything else was Jari, drums included. There was no Kai in this album.

I cant believe the drumms are programmed, since Kai is credited in the album and also represents Summer season in the photoshoot and appears in the documentary
As someone who did play drums in the past (well I still play, but not nearly as much as I'd want..) I can say that they definitely sound like programmed drums. Anyway, they definitely are programmed, but in my opinion it is done in a pretty good taste.
@@i.4724 yes, i searched this for myself and it seems that they are programmed indeed. I just think its kinda confussing for the fans since Kai appears everywhere. its a shame, I love Kai so much

The full sound Sistah mentions, is trademark Wintersun I'd say. That many layers, while still sounding cohesive is something I've only heard from Wintersun.

The lower growls are not Jari, it was either the other guitarist or the bassist, I can't remember which one.
