  • Welcome back to Heronbrook Farm. With shearing done and dusted, we move onto the next big job of the summer with the flock. In this episode, you’ll see Jackie and the team gather in the flock for weighing and spraying. It’s also a great opportunity for us to try out our new mobile sheep-handling system, the Alligator Pro 250 from Allflex, supplied by our good friends at Tanner Trading.
All of the sheep are weighed and their condition is checked, and any about which we have concerns are pulled out and moved to a separate pasture where we can keep an eye on them. It’s also a chance for us to see how the lambs are growing on and judge when to start the weaning process. In addition, every sheep gets a dose of wormer to protect them from these particularly nasty parasites and, finally, all of the sheep are sprayed with a fly repellant to protect them from the dreaded fly-strike. A full-on, busy day with lots of time-lapse and drone footage for you to enjoy.

Thanks CB - at any one time we have about 120 breeding ewes, the majority being NEMSA mules.
