Love knowing this about you Chad! I actually took a pic last night to email you - 3 teenage girls who had spent the last week buried in their devices, looked up long enough to see your deck of We! Connect Cards on the table... what followed was amazing! Two hours of connection and laughter and then they woke up this morning and carried on! I have always loved these cards and take them everywhere I go.
This makes me smiles from ear to ear! Also best testimonial for We! Connect Cards possible. "Cards that actually make teenagers put down their phones."
Our lives truly are JOURNEYS....with learning and growth opportunities all around. So grateful to hear your story and how you truly never let your childhood dream go away. BTW--my daughter is headed to Penn State in the fall, and I find your story particularly encouraging as she, and my other kids, dream about their own futures!
Woohooo!! You'll have to tell your daughter to google the Co.space. It'd be for sophomore year and beyond but a super need house designed for changemakers. Like Google bought a frat house and turned it into a creative space for social impact. A good friend, Spud Marshall, started it a decade ago. Congrats to YOU and your daughter :-)
It is amazing how much of our life journey actually influences the path we end up following. Hearing how your journey, Chad, evolved over the years and created your "tomorrow" is one I can relate with as unexpected moments seem to come out of nowhere to guide us where we are really meant to be. I would have never thought my career would take this path, yet I have found my passion and know I am where I need to be. It's like this path found me!
Yeah whenever looking backward, it always seems very silly to hold tightly to a specific outcome/goal because I could have never predicted that I would be where I am now. And I suspect the same will be true for the next 5, 10, and 20 years too.
Chad, thanks for this video. Long ago, I began to appreciate the power of story. It was enjoyable to learn a little more of yours. It's amazing how frightening it can be to be asked about your story, and yet how much of a connection is developed when we're willing to be a bit transparent.
Watching this video was so inspiring and joyful. So wonderful to hear more about your journey into facilitation. I deeply relate to your passion for it. Thank you for sharing!
chaaaaad! thank you sooooo much for talking your way through today! ah.maaaaa.zing. and following one of the moments of your patch (path with a c? for connection? smiiiiile) - i say when we reframe breakdowns as opportunities for breakthroughs, we know we are more ready for tomorrow. thanks again! Earlier in the day, before watching your video, I read chapter 15 "Life Stories" in David Brooks's book How to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply and Being Deeply Seen. Having almost finished reading Brooks's book made your video even richer and more enjoyable. Thank you for sharing your story.
Thank you for sharing part of your story! Honestly, I’ve never found someone that I relate to on “how you think about how human connection can heal people” like I do to you! Love it!
I'm super glad you like it because I think it very well may be the next book title. And I'm currently brewing up a Future Edition of We! Connect Cards to help individuals and groups "talk their way into tomorrow." And this was a bit of a playful experiment into exactly this concept: talkwithtomorrow.com/
Aww, too sweet. Funny enough, there is a guy in my neighborhood in Pittsburgh who wears a clown nose all around and regularly exchanges letters with the real Patch Adams.
@chad.littlefield Thanks for your reply, Chad! Since you have this close degree of separation from Patch, I am curious, does he know your story? If not, I highly encourage you to get this video (or some version of your story) to him, via your neighbor, so that he can know the impact that he had on you and how it has led to life changes for thousands of people. I would want to know! I was a nurse and 'regular' nursing wasn't for me, but I wanted to help people, now I 'nurse' from the stage. Still helping, just a different platform. For you, you are 'doctoring' in a different way, but I still think you are 'doctoring'! Respectfully, from your nosy fan, Steph : )
Chad, thanks for being a genuine and inspiring voice, and thanks for sharing your story in such a compelling way. You're among the most gifted and skilled facilitators I've come across, and I've met my share of good ones! Thanks for your amazing content. I'm inspired to share my story with others now! Begone, small talk!
A tall compliment. Thank you for taking a moment to share. Perfect thing to read before I lead two virtual workshops today with a potentially challenging, grumpy group 🤣
Love this Chad! Having a clear purpose makes all the energy in the world sustainable. You are a beautiful example of that. Thanks for sharing so much of yourself with us.
