- U.S. Attorney Damian Williams was joined by other law enforcement officials to announce 70 current and former NYCHA employees are facing bribery and extortion charges.

I moved in Taft When I was 18 I remember I needed some eyes for my stove, And the housing worker tried to charge me $40 apiece for them. he didn’t know my grandma worked for Housing for over 35 years and I told her and she checked him real quick, and that’s why her name is not on that list. The money was good while it lasted. Hope they saved it up for Lawyer fees.
My Grandmother Lives In The South Bronx.. In A NYCHA HOUSING DEVELOPMENT FOR 61 Years, She Waited More Than A Year For Work To Get Done In Her Apartment.. PHONE CALLS AFTER PHONE CALLS, EMAILS AFTER EMAILS, 80 YEAR OLD RECENTLY WIDOWED WHO WALKS WITH A CANE, Walking To The Management Office Over And Over Looking For Answers On Why Appointments Were Not Kept By NYCHA, No Call No Show Over And Over.. THIS IS WHY.. Maybe My Grandmother And Grandfather Before His Passing He Should’ve Paid And Bribed To Get Work Done..!
I am still waiting for repairs to be done in my apartment from a leak from above that happened in 2018.

My apartment at FOREST HOUSES (South Bronx) is full of lead, asbestos, and repairs needed from leak from above in 2018 (including tile replacement) and the MIS-MANAGEMENT OFFICE at this development REFUSED to do ANYTHING to help me.
August 23, 2024 still waiting...while it is so bad I now have serious HEALTH ISSUES, and I guess it is time to look for an attorney.

Hope they hold them accountable and start fixing things. I know people at the Baruch houses that hadn’t had gas in 6 months. Couldn’t cook a proper dinner for the holidays. Was given one electric hot plate and said deal with it. Terrible behavior. They don’t respect human beings.
Once the increase of Contractors was allow to do work in Nycha. Why is anyone surprised it is the same way on the OUTSIDE not just NYCHA Pay to Play.

THIS happens in every large city in the U.S.... and also in many medium and small cities. Corruption is pervasive in this country. Congresspersons? Yes, Judges? Yes, state and city agencies officials and employees? you bet. Turns out we are not that "exceptional".
