- This is my third time trying to record this video. Thankfully it finally worked out. I suggest you start out with your hair in a bun. Your hair doesn't have to be as fuzzy as mine was. This works well on smooth hair too :o)

Head scarfs are NOT just a muslim thing. The natural women in my family have done it for as long as I remember. That's just something our ancestors taught us to do from Africa.

Just as a side note, you ladies can also use a wig grip band to prevent it from sliding. Tyfs.

Great tutorial. One of the very few I see that actually show what the wrapping process looks like from behind. A key step for me in learning how to wear head wraps.

Aww Catrina, Hello Sister :D . LOVED this simple version. I don't think that great things are complicated. My Aunt's way of doing this style involved 3 scarves.....no Thank you. This keeps it fun. Plus, it is a good jump off point that I can use to branch off to more experienced styles in the future.

Its funny how this is a trend for protective styling now. I've been doing this my whole life because I'm Muslim and I even got taunted just for wearing them. It's nice to see that people actually think they're beautiful now. They're also very modest looks as well.

Once I learned, I wanted to make it easier for others who wanted to try it. Now that my hair is very short, I'm having to find new ways to tie my scarf.
I have always thought these looked gorgeous! But i figured since i was not Muslim it would be disrespectful to try. But you are right, it has started to become a beautiful trend that i would love to dable in, but im still hesitant if it would offend someone who is Muslim, any thoughts?

Not offensive at all!! Muslims arent the only people that do it either. There are some African cultures that wear headscarves for fashion as well. Dont be surprised if you get an Islamic greeting here or there though lol.

Do you wear a silk cap/scarf underneath your wraps? I do because it adds another layer of protection. Cotton/cotton blend headscarves dry out the hair.

I think so. If you add some extra padding (hair) around the bun before you put the wrap on. I also think a smaller bun would look just as nice.

I got mine from Target. Can't remember how much they cost. I actually bought a few. They were very reasonable priced. You can also get them from Marshalls and T.J.Maxx for about $16 I believe.

This is a great tutorial.....But I would have liked some more information as far as the volume that was created in the back of your head before you did the wrap.....Was that from a real or fake Ponytail and/or Hair Bun?

Thank you so much. The one thing I would have changed is those brows. I've toned them down quite a bit over the years. I now use brown instead of black and they are a bit slimmer at the front toward my nose.
@ltcartwright1976 I've done the satin scarf underneath my wrap before. My hair was straightened at the time and I was trying to keep my wrapped hair from coming undone. I haven't really had any issues with breakage on my nape, but I definitely see how that could happen. Thanks for the info.

Are you using another scarf underneath to protect your hair so it won’t dry out so fast? I do this type of wrap but I tie a silk scarf first;keeps hair my hair from drying out,frizzing and moisturized

I don't fold it over at all. I find that I need the length (width wise) to cover my hair all the way. Hope this helps.
