- In this AI-only scenario we'll take a look at a WW2 timeline in which all of the major European powers, with the United States, were ready for the war. They have max factories, infrastructure and a fully mobilized population that is ready for recruitment into the war effort. What ensued was a massive conflict with equally massive casualties in both military and [est] civilian population.

@@siyaaviation3659 Italy took the oilfields in caucasus. also it was a 3 way war instead of 1v2 so that helped a bit

You see here the effect the Axis get the enough oil fields and resrouces - which is here the case with all the south east parts of europe and around turkey they was able to hold. In reality ww2 would have run very different if they was not stopped in sight of the oil fields around the black sea. It was really somewhat close. So, be careful when people tell you today the nazis was complete incompetent and the war lost from the start. It was far from that. Its more like they had a real chance but their incompetence lost it at some point. As someone from europe you should have in mind that as a side effect the win of the oil fields for germany had brought the nuke over europe. They was build and planed for exactly that szenario. A little detail in history we should be thankful for.
Dang you don't see the Axis really make comebacks like that much especially once the Soviet Union pushes them that far into their territory.

@Christian Jarvis They went from 12k tanks to 5k (in less than 2 years= against 4k german tanks to less than a thousand pretty quick.
Honestly, if Comintern and Allies hadn't fought eachother in Germany and the Benelux countries, it would be hard to say if they would've won or just stayed in the game longer.
And man ,that massive axis air force.

Yeah you can see Italy flinging around it’s divisions like there’s no tomorrow, but what I really love is the music. Especially at 6:06 and 4:42 it’s implying that one wrong move, and the war is lost

@@winchestweis2328 it was competent, Mussolini wasn't. How can it not be competent if Italy is the one who fought and won against austria hungary. Il Duce chose generals for their loyalty to fascism rather than skill. Btw, I suggest you to go learn about El Alamein battle, what the italians did.

Idea (if it hasn’t already been made): France goes fascist and joins the Axis, however Japan also goes democratic and joins the Allies. To make China interesting let Nationalist China join the Axis, while every single warlord and the PRC join the Allies/Comintern around 1941.

Damn, the allies and soviets fighting... allowing the axis to hold the line JUST long enough for the Italians to break through at Baku, taking the Soviet oil supply and causing them to falter. Awesome comeback! Cheers for letting it run until sealion as well :)

That was the most unexpected comeback I've ever seen in HoI4. 3 minutes in I said Axis was going to fall, and it was falling just as I expected, then I blinked my eye and Soviet Union was dead.

I’m starting to respect the Italian AI more and more in this patch first they don’t fail in North Africa and then they made a pretty smart offensive through turkey into Russia for once I think Italy was a pretty key reason that Germany won the war
When the Comintern counter attack into Europe and start fighting the allies as well
Allies: "Hang on I thought we were supposed to be friends"
Russians: "Well da but actually niet"

A competent Italy and a huge air force made the Axis win just barely
How could they come back from this is still a mistery
I guess they made a defense line and made the Soviets deplete their numbers as the Germans got reinforcements. As well as the second frontline Italy made in Turkey.
@@thorshammer7883 yep, the Soviets lost most of their tanks and the axis crushed both allies and comitern in planes. Soviet had 17 000 tanks and when the axis turned it around they only had like 3 000
Air supeority over the Eastern front. At 4:32 the soviets had 151 planes vs. 37k from all Axis.
The axis finally had oil.

So, because the comintern was at war with the allies due to Turkey joining them, I think that probably resulted in the Axis victory in the end. As we can see at one point the comintern and Allies together had basically most of the northern european regions including most of france, however because they were at war they didn't put their full resources against the Axis which allowed them to hold on, hold on so long in fact that the italians got enough war experience to become competent, resulting in a counter-attack in the caucasus depriving the soviets of their biggest source of oil, which happened just after the soviets and Axis together pushed D-Day out of Europe, resulting the axis being able to fully focus on the soviet union which couldn't use planes nor tanks or vehicles of any kind really anymore (and were possibly also down on equipment seeing as they were easily the weakest of the 3 factions here in terms of industry, never breaching 1000), which after it was all done allowed the axis to focus on Operation Sealion once Russia was effectively under their control...
So basically all you need to do as the Axis to win ww2 is make it last so horrendously long and be so bloody the italians actually become competent

It's a shame the AI doesn't push in the caucasus even if there is a direct front. It would almost completely negate the giant Comintern armour forces. But there is only Italy present anyways.

Germany finds itself outnumbered against the soviets and gets pushed back to Berlin but at this point the soviets armored divisions are a shadowy of their former self and with the help of the luftwaffe the pushed the Russians back to moscow
Idea (unless you've already done it): Every region in a faction (with large nations such as the US and the USSR split up into faction-regions), and they are all at war!

The Soviet Union is basically the one that fight the strongest side of Germany, while the Allies keep stabbing Germany from behind. Just historically accurate, but I understand that is the only way for Allies to win
