I hate those eagles so much. They fall for a long distance, and if you don't have proper gear, they could take you out fast. I luckily figured out Dodge shoot a bow dodge again. Have an NPC help you take it out.
With the hammer you take WAY to much damage, since you facetank their hits. Devs suggest the spear with the throw ability and a dodge, works like a charm!
I prefer spear and shield with left click hold power attack as they dive at me. I'll have to test out shield blocks with different shields it use to slightly ground them allowing you a full attack with the spear. Vultures are more a great bow thing.
I find dealing with the eagles is easy just side step them and have your timing down pat and you can poke em to a permanent sleep

Yes this! I didn’t even know there was a purge mechanic until some dude showed up with a battering ram. Please do a video explaining this mechanic and how to set up the defense/guard tools
it's pretty simple to avoid, it'll tell you there's a spy, kill him = avoid. don't kill there's a new timer wait till invasion about 3-5 waves with the harder enemy at the end.
I killed my first one with bone weapon and i had hide armor on i used bone doubled sword wasn't the greatest had to run to get heals then i used bone spear and finally killed it the spear works pretty good too
Gauntlets all the way for me. I start my flurry as they begin descending and they fly right into it. Turn around and repeat. I rarely ever take damage. No dodging, nothing.

There doesn't seem to be enough time to load the great bow shot before the eagle attacks, but maybe you can kill it from afar before he reaches you.
kinda jealous of the Black Panther mount (Jaguar) thanks for this though.. just now getting to these ULBs.
im more used to greatsword which i dont take any damage from the eagle with the Space+Left Click attack on them at right time

I find these fights to be so unenjoyable. They bring nothing to the game but fustration. You are forced to face tank them while trying to kill them. Hope they make changes to them
so they're still absolute dog to have to fight, but hammer just does the most damage
cool, good to know every soulmask player is going to have PTSD from having to joust annoying birds.
the PVE in this game is brutal, reminds me of Dark Souls
The death loop are the worst. Everything camps you body.

We are currently writing a mod to remove these idiotic mobs from the game. Good god damn riddance.
these things are awful and by far the least fun part of the game.
There are things worse the horned eagles.
