A professional painter since 1983, Navajo artist Shonto Begay spends his time painting and speaking to audiences of all ages. His artwork has been shown in more than 50 shows in galleries and museums including The Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian in Santa Fe, the American Indian Contemporary Arts' museum in San Francisco, the Heard Museum, the Booth Museum and the Phoenix Art Museum. Shonto is known for his paintings depicting the Navajo lifestyle, landscape, and spiritual world. Shonto continues to live part-time in a traditional lifestyle at his family hogan in Shonto Arizona.
