I have a e bike also. I use the coil for pedaling up tech and rocky trails and in wet conditions for more grip. I use the air for mello trail rides or at a jump park or where I am going to pop of stuff. But if I forget th swap air for coil I just turn down the high speed down and low speed compression up And pro tip to change shocks lay bike sideways on the ground and it doesn’t drop as much and easier to move rear end around an easier to bolt back up
Great vid. Not too technical. To the point. Thanks. I’m going to move to a coil thanks to watching this for my SC Bullit e-bike (I should have bought the coil version). You nailed all the reasons a coil is going to be better for me. But, I have taken the time to try two other bikes with coil on my fave trail/park to get to grips with what you set out here. I would advise anybody who can do that to take the opportunity. In the U.K., some LBS’ will lend a coil or shock if they have one that fits, but it’s harder with a coil as the spring is different depending on your weight and the LBS might only have one size spring.
@@Coolcmsc that’s awesome that the LBS is letting you demo a coil shock. Super smart on their part to keep customers happy and buying through them. I’d support that shop 👍
@@gavinneill9134 do it 👍 The Lost Co has a great deal right now on the DHX2. It’s tempting to try a cheaper coil shock, but I think the extra cost is worth it for the Fox coil. Make sure to chat with the Lost Co guys about springs if you e never had a coil shock before. They helped me a lot.
👍Always nice to compare a coil and a air damper👏 I compared the Öhlin fork RXF36 M.2 AIR and COIL version, and where I found out after this test that if I would by a Öhlin fork, I would NOT by one Öhlin fork in a air version, because the air chamber is to small to get this fork to work nice. But the Coil version of the same fork is very nice🥰. Fox Factory 36mm and Rockshox Lyrik Ultimata 35 forks is the best option of air forks, witch I have both of. This Polygon Emtb is seems to be a very interesting Emtb, with the longer swingarm, like the Rotwild R.EXC Ultra or Pro. I guess thees bikes would be even more nice with a good coil damper. The new Rockshox Vivid with the hydraulik bottom out, could be a nice two air/coli version option to try😊 The Damper version I have and tryed are both Öhlins TTX22M and Öhlins STX22 witch is very nice damper both of this, but is not easy to get hold of spare parts to the coil damper. I also have some Fox Factory DHX2 coil damper and some Fox Factory DPX2 with this small piggyback, that's works realy nice. My life has gone from all sorts of summer and winter sports, with or without engines. Snowmobile racing, Motocross, Enduro, road bikes to Mountain bikes and now Emtb Construction frome framset, with now seven diffrent Emtb and Mtb's, at the age of 59 years where I had to leave my whiny cohabitants, when I now ❤love my bikes❤ more then her😂

@@kbellanti I’d say, Coil if you want to make it enduro/DH capable; Air if you want to make it lighter and more Trail/long ride capable.

Oil and coil with a progressive spring is better then a slice of fried gold. It’s definitely an upgrade on this linkage design.
