Ephesians 4:1-7; 11-13; 16
Called to be the Church
* Christianity is not just believing in Jesus but responding to the call to become and relate to other believers to witness before the world.
* Church is the visible incarnate of Christ in the world.
- God gave us grace gifts. (Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastors & Teacher)
* Christ builds up the Church.
- Church is likened to building & human body.
1. God gave grace gifts as impartation to church, Him being the head.
- Brings direction and governance.
2. Equip the saints.
- “equip” is more than teaching & training, but preparing and fitting for the proper function.
- It is similar to setting up a bone to heal and mending to repair what is ripped apart; thus so to bring restoration to what is broken.
3. The saints are to function by serving through their gifts.
- We are to have a place of service in Christ’s body.
- All body parts has it’s function, just like us all being members of the church; given we are connected and not dismembered.
