So why change
You may be happy with being a boy, but some people aren’t. Some people experience gender dysphoria, where someone feels like they’re in the wrong body. So people choose to get surgeries and/or hormone replacement in order to make them feel like they’re in the right body. Transgender is literally just a portmanteau of transition and gender, which is what trans people are doing. They’re simply transitioning from one to the other.
