Best360 Just for the record I’ve been filming standard UA-cam videos in 360 over capture.
It makes a better quality experience, and if something happens which would usually be off-camera, I have always got it. My subscribers love my videography but they don’t understand why. Because the over capture can be used very discreetly for a positive affect rather than the WoW affect

Thank you for this. Was bit skeptical coming from One X to One R. I had One X set on auto and it was crisp clear and One R not so much. One R on auto had too much noise.

Will try this! So far the quality during daytime is okay to great, but I'm struggling to get clean footage in semi-poor lighting conditions. I've seen some 360 videos shot at night and they look fine, which probably means there's something I'm not doing right :/

Note when using on a tripod as in this video Insta360 recommends you use h264 and set the display to shut off when recording, the camera can't generally handle h265 when not moving depending on the environment, their logic is that it is an action camera so you should be moving with the camera at all times, if not don't use h265 or highest resolution and frame rates... their advice not mine, they have admitted their hardware can't cool properly to support the high settings. Probably doesn't help to have a large plastic frame around the body of the camera that lowers its ability to cool, for this reason, the boosted battery and vertical battery are great. Also, you missed a huge tip for one R users, format the card using the SD Foundations SD Card Formatter using full format, then insert into camera and format from the camera settings, this way you ensure your sector size is a match to size chunks the camera wants to write with. Having a mismatch can cause card to slow errors even when using the fastest cards available.

Great video! Just wondering why you pick a bit rate of 60 rather than using the highest bit rate possible?
60 is the highest bitrate possible on the preset I selected 🙂
For uploading to UA-cam, exporting to ProRes is a good choice. UA-cam readily accepts it and gives the best quality. UA-cam re-encodes all videos uploaded to it, and ProRes is the least lossy option to reencode from. It creates huge files though, so you may hit an upload size limit, or if you have slow net connection, the upload may take very long.
Yep that's right. I decided to ignore prores in this video for those reasons. For most people, prores just takes up too much storage space 👍

Unfortunately not, I sold the GoPro MAX. The workflow is too cumbersome for me. I'm just going to focus on the ONE R and Qoocam 8K for now

For exporting Premier Pro 4K for 360 mod, why did you not set higher bit rate than 60? Just want to know as I am learning. I though One R has a bite rate of 100. Thanks for all your videos.
When you shoot 360 video, do you use the wireless mic? It is very cumbersome if used.
I don't see much difference between 60mbps and 100mbps, so I use 60mbps to conserve storage space. You can use 100mbps for optimal quality.
Many of these settings are not available on mine bought august 2021
I took my insta 360 One R out on a drive and found that a lot of my footage was overexposed. The blue sky was white. The Auto exposure setting didnt function as I had expected.
Now that I have watched this video, I will have to give it another shot.

I tried insta I inch for underwater footage and the results are far from good. biggest issue I face is overblown highlights. the sand looks washed out and featureless. Another issue is every time I switch off the camera and switch back on it goes to camera mode even if I has last used the video mode. Can you help with your suggestion.
You may need to use manual exposure settings to dial in the right exposure. or lower the exposure in auto mode to -0.5 or -1. Yea the camera defaults to whatever settings it likes lol. I hope this changes in the future too!

Film in 5.7K instead. The extra resolution makes a huge difference!

Yes Insta360 Studio works fine too. Just export in 3840 x 2160. The software automatically updates the bitrate.
Are these on video display features available on the Insta 360 R. I've looked in the app but they are not obvious. I'd like to add speed to my running videos. Thanks.

I will be using my videos for 360 in an Oculus. If you export from your phone at the max shown in your video 5:01, 2560x1440, then when you're exporting from FCP or Insta360Studio at 5760x2880, haven't you lost quality or resolution since the original from the phone is so much smaller. Wouldn't I be better off with a direct export form my sd card?
For immersive 360 video you must export on Insta360 Studio for the highest video quality possible. I am exporting reframed 360 video which is different

Exporting in h265 is slower unless you have a graphics card, then its really fast now
Best360 I have an old computer so I guess I’ll keep with h264 but my phone is fast. Sometimes I export through my phone then put it to computer
Keeping all settings according to your suggestions, can you confirm if the Narrow field view is not necessarily noisier than Wide mode? or Does it make any difference in the quality (all other settings same)
The more you zoom in the more quality loss there is. Linear is as far as I would go. I never use narrow.

I have a Budget one and I can do almost nothing with the APP. (I got the Insta360 one R) I can just use the settings. First of all, I have to put the phone in Airplane mode to connect it to the camera if I am at home where there is an internet connection. Then when the camera is connected I cannot see all the "stories" cause the App cannot get the Internet at the same time it's connected with the phone. So I have a ton of limitations!! I can only use the Insta Studio2020 which has a lot of limitations as well. You should improve a lot the app and the Studio2020!
Hello I just got the Insta 360 one r and I noticed one lens has different white balance than the other. One is warmer than the other when looking at the stitched part of the video. How can I fix this?

Hey, even I felt the log mode on 360 mod doesn't give good results....i also wanted to ask... If log mode on 4K mod produces better results than standard mode? Or we just rather avoid the log mode for now on all mods!!
Log mode it not a good idea on the 360 mod. But it's actually ok to use on the 1inch and 4k mod :)

EV stands for Exposure Value not Exposure of Video and it works in Photo mode too.
I'm confused, should I change the iso, the shutter speed, the apperture or the exposure to adjust the light? cos here you say I should play with exposure, while in other video I've heard I have to leave iso to 100 and play with shutter speed..
The method in this video was a quick cheat way for exposure. Follow the exposure flowchart for more precise and accurate exposure in any lighting condition

hi, i need help here.. i'm using insta360 one r and i found so frustrating to edit on my phone becuz of slow playback footage. so i try to transfer file from sd card direct to phone (samsung s8+) and copy it into insta360 folder \Insta360OneX\GalleryOriginal. but when i launch insta 360 app the video won't appear. any suggestion???
Send 1 short one r video from camera to phone. This will create a one r folder on your phone. Then you put your other videos in this folder too 👍

Really good video. 🚀 Artefacts: But one problem for me is still there. If the motion gets faster the picture of the one R becomes more noise in case of artefacts. I sold my Max but at this point the quality of the Max was much more sharper and has less artefacts. Do you know this problem and do you think it has something to do with the Bitrate or the 265 codec. I read that UA-cam has problems with this codec. Maybe you got an answer for that question. 🙂✌️
You can still shoot in h265 and export in Premiere Pro in H264. See if this makes a difference to your video with a lot of motion 🙂👍. I uploaded this video itself in h265. I think it looks fine. But then there is not much motion in this video so it's hard to judge!

@@pierreleger Yes, Max is sharper if you put it in the highest Sharpness setting. I do prefer the footage coming out the MAX. But in terms of ease of use, Insta360 is much better!

Great tips thanks. My insta 360 gets condensation on on of the lenses if it's been on for 15min or more. I contacted Insta360 and the have me a guard lens. However that dosent help. Any ideas? Have you experienced or do you know of anyone that's experienced this problem?
I personally have never experienced this. There are many reports of this on the Insta360 Facebook groups. And I am not sure what causes it. If I do experience this or learn of any solution, then I will definitely post 👍.

While Exporting a 360 video from insta360 One R mobile app which was recorded using 5.7k 30 fps, I only see max possible resolution as 2560X1440. Why can't I see export option as 4k?

Export it to your phone first, and then upload it to UA-cam. Never directly upload from App to UA-cam. For the best results on UA-cam, edit on desktop, Premiere Pro.

"Rendering at max depth" honestly doesn't do too much when uploading to youtube and you use end up with a longer export time.
That's mainly reserved for heavy VFX shots, or when you're not uploading to a website that will just wreck your video quality.
So what would you reccommend? 4K?
I have a problem with tip number 9, The highest i can get is 1080 and 75 bitrate,why is that? is it because I use an android phone?

Problems: 1 Inch Mod
- Record button Problem : Hit Record and nothing happens
- Not Recording as you expect : Hit record and it stops or Freeze after few seconds.
- Stop Recording : Stop Recording and Camera Freezes.
- Continuously Freezes : Camera Keep Freezes all the time. In 20 Shots (8 or 9)

- Over Heat
So you think not using log is harder to colour grade? That's a strange view. The whole point of log is to make colour grading easier/better!
Log mode has never been good on Insta360 camera imho

Log is designed to capture the maximum dynamic range off the sensor, not to make grading easier. The trouble with action cameras is that they all capture 8-bit colour off a small sensor. For log to be properly effective for grading you really need 10-bit capture to avoid banding issues in subtle gradients such as the sky. For cameras like the Insta360 ONE R, it is usually best to capture in the native colour. In my current tests of the 1-inch mod, log is only gaining me minor advantages in the highlights, but banding issues are more noticeable, so I now recommend using the default colour rather than log even for that mod. I live in hope that the modular nature of the ONE R means that Insta360 can release a 10-bit module for it in the future.

@@simonwyndham thanks a lot! I must admit I prefer the log mode on the 4k mod to their colour profile, seems to give me a lot more to work with in the shadows and highlights!
Use *24FPS* if you're in America of if you're going for a more _cinematic_ look.
*30fps* is typically reserved for TV shows.
the video stabilization is trash in 360
Insta 360 has a terrible quality compare with a dslr.
I wish you tipsters would STOP giving fake information to would be buyers if the One R. Eg changing the output setting WILL NOT GIVE IMPROVED QUALITY. You obviously do not know the ins and outs of the marketing hype that befalls this camera. Like an idiot I bought this camera more for 2D filming with the one inch sensor. I genuinely thought the codec and technology that this camera professed to give would be a first in actually recording in H265 i e. HEVC, as a choice for the cameraman. What utter nonsense that turned out to be, we have become victims of a huge con. The camera neither offers Prores let alone bit rates of 200 Mbps. It's all a CON !!!!!! The camera at max can only capture at 70 MPs , it CANNOT capture in H265 or Prores. What they do is to offer export options that takes the insv file ( essentially MP4 70 Mbps ) and allows false export specs that's are no better than the original insv cloaked MP4 file. So what you are doing is dramatically increasing file size in Prores setting for no valid reason, or reducing file size in the case of H265 but NOT. Picture quality as YOU have stated. You really need to get your facts right as such crass ignorance ends prospective buyers to be sucked into parting with $600 fir no valid reason except based on a lie. I could tell you more devastating news, but am holding back as am waiting for insta360 to cone clean on other " con " spec data, that is also a cheat imho, and proven fact in my tests. This camera does NOT live up to its "pro" like features there an insult and sheer irresponsible marketing tricks and hype.
