That’s why I want Russ to start, at least part of it. Firstly, I like draft picks, so I’d rather keep the 4th unless Justin really is special, but I think that Justin needs a little bit more time in the oven under a proper development system.

DJ is one of the best receivers in the game. Mooney is decent. Kmet is fine. Ppl grossly exaggerate how bad the receiver situation was. Obviously it is better now but it wasn't bad. Goff made it to the Superbowl and had 28TD and 7int in his second season. Fields only shows he can't play a full season of football.
PS the weapons Pittsburgh has are very comparable to what the bears had last year.

Also he won 7 games and missed 5 games which he would have won 2 no doubt. Came back off injury immediately vs the lions. Then played the lions again 2 weeks later and won by 15. Loses a close one to cleveland which the defense didnt hold up on the final drive.

Nobody WANTS Russ from 2013. His best years were 2017 until he was injured in game 5 of 2021. He was the best QB in the league overall during those years! He was the presumptive #2 or #3 MVP in each of those years.

You obviously don't remember that game. While Fields number look great he had two crucial turnovers. The fumble resulted in points and the int sealed the game. Fields stop scoring with about 19mins of game time. The last time the bears scored was with 4:01 mins in the 3rd.

The best thing that could happen for the Stealers is Wilson gets them to 9+ games and then they re-sign Justin Fields (as a backup) if they like what they've seen off-season. That way they can have negotiating leverage to sign Wilson for another 2-3* years. I would say potentially draft another quarterback in that duration of time, but this is the Steelers.
Thank you Joy and Shady. I hope Fields is able to revive his career but to compare him and Cousins to RW3 is ridiculous. Please debate this for me: Why do we continue to talk about Herbert as one of the top QBs in the NFL when the guy has yet to win (only been to one) a playoff game. RW3 had been to 2 SBs at that stage of his career. 2021 RW3 threw for 25 TDs and the media said he had a bad season. The following season Herbert also threw for 25 TDs on 300 more attempts and yet he was still part of the discussion of best QBs...tough to watch.

I know there’s significant bias against Justin on this show and he admittedly has issues reading defenses, holds on to the ball too long.
Here are some facts to consider about Justin:
He’s had two different HC. He was thrown out there without any support, no receivers, no OL, poor Coaching, yet he turned a 3-14 season to 8-9 which should’ve been 10-7 were it not for HC miscalculations. Show me which other QB tripled the wins in one year with as little support as Justin had.
As a Steelers fan, I don't won't to see a 2 back system. I hope Russell balls out for us and we sign him for 3 yrs. Then give the reins to Fields.
This is the same problem the Bears had....the FANS and MEDIA were clamoring for Fields to play, even though Andy Dalton is ALSO exponentially better than Fields. They got Nagy fired, even though he was doing what he should have done.....it's a joke. This shouldn't even be a topic of discussion.

A short leash on Russ will only mean a presumed shorter one for Fields. Once you bench Russ for Fields, you cannot go back to Russ if Fields sucks, and putting in Kyle Allen at that point is risky because Shaw you will have played three QBs.
THAT could at the very least put Mike Tomlin on the hot seat for the 2025 season if it doesn’t get him fired, new contract or no new contract.
This is why you have to give Russ a long leash. James Jones says there’s a leash.
I can buy that, but it’s only going to make him play better, but there are media and fans ready to call for Fields the first time Russ throws an INT, and that’s total bullsh!t. Russ needs to be comfortable in there, and there will be growing pains.
The NFL did Russ and the Steelers a huge favor by backloading their schedule, and I believe they did it on purpose.
One more note: Russ doesn’t have to be paid a bag by the Steelers because he is being paid $39M by the Broncos, who wanted to hang onto Russ for another year, btw.
They benched Russ in efforts to lose the final two games and move up in the draft, and they only cut Russ because he refused to defer his injury guarantee for an additional year. That guarantee could’ve cost the Broncos $100M.
If Russ would’ve deferred, they would’ve kept him for 2024. He would still be in Denver, and he didn’t want to stay in Denver!

Russell Wilson is the better quarterback out of the two is her point and this season will prove that. However, Justin Fields is a better athlete but his throws are slower and inaccurate and his processing speed is why Chicago sent this nice young man packing to the Steelers.
The AFC North is going to be brutal this season.

Why Steelers should give a chance to 30+ year old QB who's at the end of his career a chance to get another pay day rather then to see what young QB can do/show you and probably solidify your QB room for years as they might just keep running the ball with Fields/Harris/Warren and occasionally let Fields throw that ball and let your D do the rest as Russel cannot run as effectively as he used to

Justin Fields team is the nfl equivalent to the Detroit Pistons. Justin and Cade had no help last season! We can't expect Fields to ball in Chicago. Joy/Shady needs to stop hating on Fields. I think Justin will be the starter next year, and he might be able to grab the starting job near the end of this season!
