I've had some truly awesome looking jigs. Both ones I've bought and tied. I've got some fish on them without tipping anything or using scent. But nothing has done as well as tipping with maggots and wax worms. Even if it's a jig with a larger hook and I've only got small maggots.
Jigs are one thing I can count on in a lot of places and a lot of situations. I’ll have to try my luck with the maggots/waxworms. Thanks for the tip, tight lines🎣
Good job man! That last steelhead was fat and had a bit of gold on her back. Clipped pectoral fin. I saw a skamanian steelhead onece and it looked alot like that fish. May have been one?.. Big fish tiny creeks!! Maribou jigs soo fun!! Fish on!!
Thanks! Good eye, I’ll have to go back and look to see. Maybe it was! I love fishing tiny creeks and marabou jigs are for sure one of my favorite things to use in the spring for many different species.
Skamania strain will sometimes but not always have a double fin clip...adipose and LEFT pectoral fin (per NYS DEC). The fish toward the end of the video was missing a right pectoral...may have lost it in a fight or possibly from being previously caught. Skamania are only released into the Catt when there's a surplus of Skamania stockers. Most Steelhead in the Erie Tribs are the Washington strain. The main difference between the strains is when they run into the tribs...Skamania enter the tribs during the late Summer, Washington strain steelhead head for the tribs Sept-Dec. Both strains spawn in the early Spring.
The mainline in this video is just 15lb KastKing braid and the fluorocarbon was 8lb Yozuri HD Carbon leader. I highly recommend that leader never had any issues with it and it surprised me many times with big fish.
Hey bro I'm a 716 native bro I have some crazy fishing spots hit me up I will show u a spot where u can catch walleye perch white perch crappie and monster bluegill. Also it's has a huge carp and channel catfish population
I’m from Niagara county and have never been out the Erie Tribs. If you could let me know where this location is I would greatly appreciate it. Prayers.
Sadly I can’t share the location of this spot. But a good thing to note is that the majority of Erie tributaries have some steelhead in them. I hope you can get on some steelhead. Blessings and tight lines!
