Frequently Asked Questions: 1. What clay do you use? I use a paper clay. I either buy it or make my own depending on what I want to create 2. What's the difference between the bought paper clay ( amzn.to/2r5FEHY ) and the homemade paper clay (A) ua-cam.com/video/LkYGfBz_MTU/v-deo.html (B) ua-cam.com/video/_Ef-U6aZEoI/v-deo.html ? The homemade one is not that soft and is only good for textured surfaces like stones and tree bark. It is very cheap to make so it might worth to sand it and work it a little more than buying a paper clay. However, you can't keep it more than 5 to 7 days in the fridge. It has the best consistency when you just made it and it's fresh, so I would recommend you use it in the same day or the next and don't make more than you need 3. Can I use air dry clay? What's the difference between air dry clay and paper clay? Often times shops will sell both paper clay and ceramic clay with the same label "air dry clay". It's true, both are air hardening but there are quite a few differences: air dry clay(ceramic clay) is actually mud, natural clay, while paper clay is made with cellulose and other ingredients. Paper clay is stronger than air dry clay(ceramic clay). Air dry clay (ceramic clay) shrinks and the paper clay does not shrink. This is why paper clay is the better choice for my kind of projects. My projects usually require you to cover a jar or a plastic bottle. If the air dry clay shrinks and the bottle or jar remain the same size... you guessed it... your air dry clay will crack all around. It might be a lot cheaper but it's not what you need for these projects. 4. My clay cracks, how do you cover the cracks? You don't, you change your air dry clay to a paper clay! See why at the previous question 5. How to waterproof my paper clay creations? I recommend using a yacht varnish. Apply a few coats and make sure you cover it all around so no water touches your clay 6. What brand of paper clay do you use? I use "Das modelling material" - amzn.to/2r5FEHY 7. Where can I see the list of materials? As a general rule of my channel... READ MY VIDEO DESCRIPTIONS! I write it for you guys, is no secret what I use. For every video I write a description of what I do and what I use. 8. Do you sell your creations? No, not yet, my daughter loves them too much. 9. What colors do you use? I mostly use watercolors and acrylic paint.
Hello, I wrote about the PROCESS and the MATERIALS in the VIDEO DESCRIPTION. Check it out! I might not be able to answer all your questions so before asking me something in the comments section make sure I didn't already answered that question. Thank you!
Hello Creative mom!!!!Thank you for all of your videos.I have a question...how many clay do you use for one project.I know it depends from what you are crafting each time but can you tell me a approximately (how much eg 500gr or 1 kilo of das paper clay).Thank you for your time and sorry for my english! :-)
Love your work. I have done 3 different Christmassy houses in the last month or so. it’s really labour intensive, more than you’d think......but not unenjoyable.
I discovered your channel today. I am an art teacher so love crafting naturally. However, i seldom get time to create my own work. I am really enjoying watching you up-cycle these everyday objects into truly beautiful objects ornaments. You Are Awesome!!!!! Love from the UK :-)
Фарида Нурпеисова ua-cam.com/video/_Ef-U6aZEoI/v-deo.html. Как сделать эту массу ,род этим видео есть на русском объяснение .Я пару дней назад сделала такую массу и получилась отличился отличный домик
I was so excited to see what you were going to do for a Christmas/ Gingerbread type House. I've been wanting to make one but couldn't decide on what to make the base out of to get the more straight square shape. I kept thinking I have to find a plastic bottle or container that wouls give me the closest shape. Well now I know what yoy did so thank you!! Also would love to know when you use the watercolors an when you use the acrylic just to better understand your painting technique. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love a video of you just painting something an explaining your choices along the way! Thank you again, you have been such an inspiration. I'm artistic but don't have the ability to come up with my own ideas very well, but I can copy or tweak others peoples projects which make a me very thankful for crafters like you!!
Thank you for all you do... I just LOVE your art.. I watch all of your videos in awe.. I would love to make these but just don't know what I would do with them all. I have a little tip for you. If you want to round the edges of something you are cutting out with a stick or cookie cutter (such as the cookies you put onto the roof) Put a thin layer of plastic over the clay like a baggie or saran wrap and cut through it. It automatically rounds the edges for you giving a clean finished look. I am a ceramic artist and use this tip often.
Thank you so much, again! I really love your work! I already made 2 of your creations in the past 3 weeks. Think i'm gonna try this next week. Now i'm trying to make something like the Halloween lamp, but instead a big santa hat. Already looking forward to your next video! Greetings from Holland
it's always interesting to watch her color choices and how she blends them in. for example the blue and green stones totally didn't start out well as color choice with the yellow but as always at the end, her blending totally worked it.
I've fallen in love with your fairy house creations ! I'm catching up on so many of "new to me" video's and each one is so wonderful !!! I feel like I've actually dreamt about creating some of my own... so I guess I'd better get started.... I've saved lots of cola bottles now just to find the clay or an old blender to chop up cardboard etc... thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent ! I will keep following to see what is new, I'm so very glad I found you.... your very entertaining !
I love your music selection for your videos. Its so relaxing.I've done all types of art related things except sculpting and molding things so because of your video I'm going to give this a try. I don't have hot glue or aluminum foil at the moment so I'll have to improvise but oh well.
Hello Creative Mom, I 💖 your amazing artwork and look forward to watching video tutorials!! GBFHL is cute and adorable, I love how your creations come to life with using plastic bottles. Thank you for sharing! Wow!!
Love your work, I had a go all I had was small glass pots it didn’t look to bad but the clay cracked, I couldn’t get it smooth without removing it from that area lol.. so I gave up.. I will try again but not just yet.. love them this ginger bread house it’s amazing x
+beccy griffiths Hello, thank you for your comment. In most of my videos I used a paper clay called Das. It doesn't shrink so it doesn't crack if you cover something with it (regular air dry clay shrinks and cracks). You can find Das here amzn.to/2r5FEHY. To find out more information about each video, please check out the description. Have fun!
I love this one so much! I have been watching u for a couple of years now and I rewatch your videos a lot! U are so great at what u do! I have made 3 creations of yours and this one will be my next! Ty so much for sharing!
Hi dear, I’m just amazed by your work and I started to sculpt thanks to you. I used Das like you recommended, but if we want a finer or elaborated work, which modeling past do you recommend me? Thank you so much ☺️
hi i love all your creative works. sincerely they are so beautifull. i dont imagine the diferent ways to make all the incredible things with bottles of beverage. thanks for show us your master pieces. i love all your projects and i follow you always. sincerely congratulations for all these proyects.
Very beautiful....my feed doesn't load so I don't know if someone else asked about how can you seal it for outside use??? like in a garden.,.if it rains....?????
I personally use spar urethane. It's clear, dries quick and keeps all my paper mache work dry. The water just beads off. I make outdoor props for Halloween. Hope that helps.
Emily M thanks for answering. Can you please tell me a brand name so I can see what exactly is it? I don't think we have this in Greece,. again thank you.
gitsadr the brand I have is minwax helmsman. There is also another brand I’m familiar with Rust-oleum. They and made for indoor/ outdoor use, they are made for waterproofing material like wood. I think if you find something like spar varnish or lacquer, shellac all other kinds of water proofing that can be found at a hardware store like Lowe’s or homedepot. Not sure if that helps. Some come in a spray can and others in a paint can.
thank YOU so much for your wonderful creativity I get great joy and desire to live and work , watching your video......I wish YOU health and much happiness....
