Not only that, but you have to train your eyes too. Bradley won't even see the punches coming and won't be able to react. I stopped training for about 6 months one time and when I went back, the first day of sparring I was getting popped in the face with the slowest punches. Non fighters don't realize all that goes in to being a fighter.

One of my friends became a body builder (not professionally), but he’s a big dude. 6’3 and probably like 230. He’s on roids too.
Anyways he was my childhood friend. From 12-17. He was always the softest kid in our neighborhood. Whenever a fight would break out he would always be the first one to cry when he got hit. I was like 7 inches shorter and could easily take him.
This is a pattern I noticed about big body builder dudes. Deep down they know they can’t take a hit. Can’t endure pain so instead of training (because they are afraid of the pain) they take up body building. Because this way they can feel strong, intimidating, and dangerous without ever going through the pain of getting hit.
Im almost certain if brad gets cracked with a couple of punches he will instantly close his eyes and turn his face away.

I’m 6’3” and I was 312lbs when I joined BJJ. I was very fat but very strong. I worked outdoors in all weather and had unnaturally awesome cardio for my size. My first instructor was 5’6”, 145lbs. He told me before we rolled the first time to “let my instincts guide me” and proceeded to bully me with transitions for the full five minute roll. He never even attempted a submission. He just took a move I made and used it against me. For the last two minutes of the roll he held me in side control 1 for two straight minutes. I could bench him off of me but was completely unable to because of his superior top control.
When the time buzzed, I asked him why I couldn’t push him off. He said “Because I took away your leverage. Notice how, regardless of how strong you are, your muscles just couldn’t torque in any way that mattered? Because BJJ consists of understand the way the body can and can’t move. You notice when I took those points of leverage away from you, your muscles failed you. Your strength is an excellent attribute but technique will always outperform it. So make certain you learn to add your strength to your technique, and not add technique to your strength.”
Literally never forgot that speech. I train by what coach Derek told me when I started.

I’ve trained and sparred with former ufc fighters at different gyms throughout San Diego. I’m like 5’5 and just lean like the surfer that I am. It is hard to explain the mentality of a trained fighter, a pro fighter's mentality is such that a guy like Bradley is looked upon as easy prey. Why? When he is training to get pretty muscles, a fighter is on a totally different game plan! The game plan is simple for fighters, train to be the best boxer, kickboxing, or MMA fighter. Learning to become a fighter requires a violent mindset that most athletes can't comprehend. Lifting weights to pose for pictures and judges is totally different compared to a fighter's training plan. I fought many years ago as a Kickboxer. This was before the days of MMA. Most of us also trained in jujitsu or Judo. I personally told a very large NFL football player that I could knock him out in a fight. He acknowledged that he knew he would lose in a fight with a trained fighter. We had a great laugh, to be honest, he had mad respect for us fighters, the respect was mutual. This player had amazing accolades as one of the best players in his position he was in the Pro Bowl multiple times. He was an amazing football player. Somehow being a fighter gives one confidence in a crowd of normal people as well as elite pro athletes. Size does not matter to a fighter unless the bigger guy is also a trained fighter. But, I must give the flip side of this confidence, buyer beware! If a weapon such as a gun or a knife enters the fray all bets are off on the trained fighter winning that battle. I personally knew a great fighter who was killed by a gunshot wound. He had a bright future, sadly he got into a fight inside a club, and quickly ended the fight with a kO. Once the loser of that fight gathered himself he left the club only to return with a gun and killed the trained fighter. Street fights have no rules! As far as Bradley goes, he is making these outrageous claims to get clicks on his podcasts. I personally knew top-rank bodybuilders who had amazing muscles, those guys were very cool and respectful. I understand that the world has changed since my days as an athlete, people like Bradley are making money by making outrageous claims. As one who knew guys his size and larger, I can assure you Bradley would never truly challenge a trained fighter. He is getting clout by making these claims, he realizes that the odds are against him winning a street fight with a high-level fighter. His strategy for getting clicks is working, I never heard his name until he made the claims that he could lay on top of Mighty Mouse. I highly doubt that he could just lay on top of Mighty Mouse the MMA multiple champion. Non-fighters are oblivious to the fact that a trained Jujitsu or Judoka knows how to use someone's momentum against them. In the late 70s, I started training in multiple martial arts. At the start of my grappling training, the first technique I learned was how to break a fall. We drilled breaking a fall more than I like to remember. next came different sweeps and throws. At the time I weighed in at 135 lb, My height was 5'9. I was teamed with a guy who was 6'2 feet tall and weighed around 275. Despite being the smaller person, I was amazed at how easy it was to hip-toss a larger opponent. This is the reason that the majority of train fighters are not intimidated by large guys with muscles. A trained fighter knows that it would be a quick fight!

People don't understand when Nate when in the ring against people he wasn't trying to kill them. He was trying to get paid first of all and second of all he was trying to wear them down for a later knock out or decision. He was also fighting under sanctioned rules that could cost him alot of money if he broke them. In a street fight Nate Diaz isn't going to think about doing 5 rounds. He will FUCK YOU UP QUICK. Elbows kneecap you knock you down and proceed to stomp the fuck out of you or choke you to sleep.

When I was a Drill Sgt years ago, and it came time for hand-to-hand combat training, I always told the entire company of 200-250 new recruits to choose the baddest of them all to challenge me. I did this for 10 cycles and won every single time. I'm only 5'8", was 160lbs at the time. I competed in very small amateur BJJ tournaments and MMA stuff, but nothing serious. And some guys that were almost twice my weight got put down so fast because I had several years training more than them. I never had a match last more than 90 seconds. I'm no where near the level of any of these real fighters. Bradley is delusional thinking he can handle a professional fighter.

Besides, think about what would happen if your Drill Sgt openly challenges the recruits to a fight and you're the one who goes in and wins in a convincing manner. You'll end up doing 10x more work than anyone else for the whole duration afterwards. I’ve trained with a blue belt on my first day off BJJ. He drowned me within 2 minutes of a roll and I was a solid 155. I’ve trained boxing before but wrestling and BJJ are different. 3 months into training I got to roll with him again just to find out he was barely touching me and was probably using less than 10% of his weight and skill. People don’t realize how being big and muscular has no advantage against people who have been training their whole lives to be the best in the world. Pretty sure DJ could beat me blind folded and both arms around his back.

I always say this to people when they are like BJJ beats everyone in a street fight so easy. Yeah out in an open area one on one BJJ probably beats most things. But if I'm in a crowded pub with tables and glasses and lots of people the last thing I'm wanting is to be on the floor. you'd be wanting to get a few good punches off and get yourself in a position to get out of there if other people got involved.

Exactly. Brad needs to be humbled. This dude thinks he is good at everything even though he is literally just a bodybuilder. That is like saying he could beat an nba player just because “he’s 260”. I don’t care what what it is, you aren’t beating a professional at their own sport unless you’ve trained for at least 1,000 hours at it. I don’t really pay attention to fighting that much but even I know that someone who trains everyday on every aspect of a sport will beat someone who outweighs them by 100 lbs but doesn’t train 100/100 times
