Always a good day to see a Big Bud video. The cabs on those Big Bud's always remind me of a community airport control tower in design/shape. They are about as high up in the air too.
I got to see the Big Bud 747 at the Heartland Museum in Clarion, Iowa before they mounted the new LSW tires and shipped it back to Montana. Absolutely awesome machine. Great museum too.
@@gregjames5070 interesting , now makes me wonder if they will go into production . If i read things correct the company started back up almost 2 years ago .
Wow! Minute 3 of the video is truly impressive with the detailed insights about the Big Bud 525/50 and its impact on the tractor industry. The compact design and powerful engineering clearly made it a legend in agriculture. Thank you for providing such engaging and informative content
I just love the boxy, functional design. No stupid curves and aeorodynamics. It is a tractor and it has what it takes to pull - engine, frame, gearbox and tires and some hydraulics. No fancy addons, no trashy style. Just pure function. Power, torque and mass. Simple machine made to do simple but most important job - work the fields and produce food.
@@selmirikanovic absolutely. You are one of the guys who truly gets it. Junk Deere and the other tractors are artificially expensive, nearly impossible to work on, and don’t last as long.
I remember getting to see one of these tractors brand new at a dealership in Lingle, Wyoming in 84 or 85. I believe we might have pictures at home of me on it.
I'm surprised such a firm could exist making such small amounts of tractors. I'm British and I find it funny most tractors in the 70s were like 30 horsepower. Whereas you guys had big buds on 300+ haha
Thank you jason for sharing this big bud tractor I would love some time to see one of these big bud tractors up close in person. Thank you for sharing the specifications and price tag as well.
They are awesome tractors. By construction either thick steel they are still a beast today but as modern tractors add horse power and added weight a Big Bud of the 1980’s is not as big as it once was.
Those Big Buds are some really cool tractors. This particular model needs to back the fuel off just a bit. I know a lot of people like to see that black smoke but that's just unburnt fuel which increases EGT's and wastes money, little different in tractor pulls where they are running much higher horsepower and running rich does increase power to some extent. It's an apples and oranges comparison though as those engines don't run for hours or even minutes at a time near max power.
Go buy a big bud of your own and you can set the fuel however you want. These people don’t even know that you exist and somehow you feel the need to tell them what to do. People like you are what’s wrong with this country!!!!
950 versatile is the biggest tractor that we got, we pull an extremely heavy Krause 32' I believe? Somewhere in that range chisel plow with the stubble sweeps on it (longer), and then we have a 36' calkins field cultivator, a calkins 45' field cultivator, a 36' Morris rod weeder, a 32' JD heavy disk, a 14' JD offset disk, and a 70' Degelman drag harrow, I also farm with an 1973 D6C farm cat with a 3306 turbo engine, I run the cat over plowed ground with the disk, because it's smoother going over the furrows with the cat then the tractor. And I also will Rod weed summer fall ground with the cat as well. I also have an older 1967 D6B but the undercarriage on it is bad, so she is parked in the shed most of the time, but if we get alot of snow, or in the spring i will hook one of our hay trailers up to it, and feed cows with it because it floats across mud, and through the snow better than our feed tractors, and if I'm being honest I prefer running the cats over the tractors for farming if I'm being honest, way smoother ride most of the time
I like these big tractors that were made to last decades upon decades. Now just replacing one of the plastic JD hoods is a couple grand. It's really pretty pathetic what planned obsolescence has done to the quality of just about everything you buy nowadays.
It is amazing at how much tractors have increased in cost. I did a story for a magazine in 2001 on a1975 Steiger Panther II which I had a copy of the original sales receipt of $42,000 from the farm. In 2001 $42,000 would buy a 35 hp tractor and a top 4wd at 450 hp on tracks was $250,000.
Yes the engine is set at 525. All Big Bud tractors from 1969-1991 model number on the decal reflected their horse power. I use original sales brochures from the companies to make these videos using their advertised specs.
Big Buds will never make a comeback. No dealer network. I can buy and get parts for a JD, NH or CIH in my town. I don’t think there’s a BB dealer in Illinois.

As a 10 year old about 45 years ago, I saw a couple Big Buds at the Farm Progress show. I was awestruck.

It was great that it got to spend time in Iowa. I had a chance to visit it twice at the Museum.
Thanks for the video
Thank you for the video!!
i hear Big Bud is back in production..would be great to see a new one
They haven’t produced one operating model yet.

Those tractors are very powerful
Another great video
Our two main farm tractors are a 525/50 and 450/50 big bud. Love those tractors! They only made around 30 of the 450/50's

@alg7115 we have an 80 foot wide chisel plow that we pull from time to time with our 525/50. We can really cover some ground when we're pulling that.
Big Bud is pulling a streek
What an awesome tractor😎 Looks big in the field and even bigger on the road 😄

Excelente video, gracias por traducir el video al español.
That’s a whole lot of tractor right there. The big plus no DEF.🙂
Lots of real power.
Nice bro 🎉
A big bud working ground is always amazing💪😄 thanks for the video👍👍
Thank you Simon. Series III Big Buds are strong tractors.
Great Big Bud video big T
👍👍👍
Looks like a great tillage team. Looking cool coming down the road with the duals on taking up the full road...
Awesome 👌
Awesome Jason....gotta love the big brutes...I really like the body style of the new big buds
I am greatly looking forward to starting a video saying I BTP this video comes to you from a field in Montana we’re a 900 hp Series V 900 is at work.
@bigtractorpower absolutely!
Imo Big Bud is the top dog of 4wd tractors, but my opinion isn't worth that much😂 it was cool seeing this one out in the field

Very nice!
Thank you for watching.
great video...❤ BIG BUDS
nice one
Why is the driver not lifting the implement when turning? Are the hydraulics shot? Or a rookie driver?

Great vid as always.
I really hope you filmed what was across the road at the end though. 🤞

@duggydo - don’t know where your getting your pricing but new 8R hood is over $ 8,000.00
@@bruceconrad3189 Doesn't surprise me. They will charge whatever people will pay and keep jacking it up.
@@bruceconrad3189That’s his point….
@@hokie9910take it easy on him…he’s a John Deere owner
At least you can find a new plastic hood. You can’t find new big bud hoods period!!!!
I subscribe to Welker Farms. They are rebuilding a big bud.
👍👍

As always.
Hard to believe now 100 horsepower tractor cost as much money now as them bubs did then

Ever been out to Welker Farms
Are you sure it only has 525 HP?
Those Cummins KT's are beasts and are so easy to uprate.
800 HP would be easy.

🚜🚜
Also pull a 80 foot flexi-coil chisle plow with the 525/50 from time to time.
I thought big bud was coming out with a new tractor last year whatever happened to that.
They went quiet. Was told that they didn't sell enough or something like that to even get them out to farmers

Sadly 2 stroke Detroit's mad lots of hp but torque was lacking
