They also did a good job making the actor for Merry look like a completely different person cause when I saw the actor I was like he looks way to cool to play him.
I doubt Krieg is completely omitted, I think he might be out of the trailer for the same reason as why I think Kuro's face is never seen. Because both of them first pretended to NOT be the villain of the arc, Kuro living as Krahadoor and Krieg pretending to just beg for food while planning to take the place over. So I think their faces were omitted in the trailer to play with these reveals of their betrayals. Now I don't think his stay will be that long, I'm surprised if Pearl even appears, but I think Krieg would still be good to appear to show Mihawk's strength compared to him at least and build up how dangerous Grand Line is.
We saw Krieg’s Wanted poster and picture in OPLA’s website, so I would imagine that he’s in it. Is just what you’ve said, they have not shown him yet. On the other hand, I don’t think Pearl is really needed here… We don’t even have an actor confirmation for Gin for the time being, neither from Hachi, so either they are saving them (as they did with Roger) or they got cut out unfortunately.
They even avoided showing Morgan’s face, they probably just don’t wanna give too much away. The show is gonna be like 8 hours or something! I’m looking forward to everything they didn’t show in the trailer and what surprises they have in store for us
I'm guessing that they're gonna spend a long period of time at Baratie. Too much bloat to have both Arlong and Krieg in the same place at the same time.
the live action look like its gonna be making the world more connected, i mean we clearly can see Arlong in buggy's arc, for me thats amazing and how it should be... a lot of powerful pirates are not gonna be waiting in their islands until the protagonist appears
I at least want this to get a season 2 to see if Netflix actually does the absolutely baller move of casting Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Kureha like she's been vocal about wishing for. And of course, to see who they'd cast as Robin and Vivi, and how they'd handle Chopper.
Henson company puppets is the way to go imo, add a little CGI enhancement where needed, but for the most part you can use those puppets for most of the creatures (Chopper, Karoo, The sidestep crab, etc)
I don’t think Krieg will be removed entirely because he’s already been casted (Played by Milton Schorr). If arlong ends up taking the spotlight at baratie, I would honestly be fine if krieg was just some pirate eating at the restaurant that luffy gets into a brief fight with
I can also see Mihawk destroying Don Krieg. Like Mihawk show up a bit earlier, destroy the ships and everything, defeat zoro. Then Arlong arrive, take away Nami and so.
Kreig always felt like a jobber for Mihawk anyways. He was built up as a strong guy with a fleet... only to get trounced by one guy. Keep that part and just cut the fight with Luffy.
Buggy’s portion is so interesting because at first it looks goofy and even a bit silly, but then your eyes slowly notice that the things flying around are chunks of his body. And by the time you hear him say his funny attack name, like a split second later like a bullet he launches his weapons at you. Great mixture of goofy fun and legit horror.
The thing people need to remember about the outfits is that a lot of arcs or (at the very least) major fights take place over the span of 2 to 3 days tops. It wouldnt be strange for the characters to have the same clothing especially when a good number of them canonically dont bathe daily
Here's the reason i have faith in this project.... effort. They are putting a lot of heart and effort into this series. They are actually trying their best to capture the spirit of this legendary series and translate it into live action. There is genuine EFFORT in every aspect of this work and I'm on board for it 100%!
Honestly, seeing the News Coo and Luffy inviting it to his crew were very telling in terms of how the creators feel about and understand the series and characters. I'm looking forward to it!
to be really honest, even if the live action turn out fine, there will still be people calling it trash and whatnot (especially twitter) so i’d say just trust what you yourself think about the live action when it drop.
The fact that oda is directly involved means it will be pretty good. I don't think oda would be willing to sign off on something that doesn't really do his creation justice
@@eliaspanayi3465 That doesn't mean anything. Literally nothing. Here's something you should consider: Oda is Japanese, a country with people of their own sense of entertainment. Net Piece is American made, a country with people of their own sense of entertainment. What Oda says, not only means nothing, it actively goes against it as a western target piece of media. That aside everything about looks terrible.
I actually really like that Luffy names the crew "the Straw Hat Pirates" in this, I mean that makes sense, the Captain should be the one to name his crew, I always found it odd how Smoker was the one who named them originally so this is a good change that makes more sense!
I always assumed it was other people, be it; the daily mail, the marines or the people, that named it. That would explain crews named after their captain.
I think it was GLR who thinks the well scene is during Syrup Village, and this is why he was late to the fight with Kuros men, he got lost and ended up down a well
@@regiman222I think it’s either that or it’s gonna be like an imagery thing for when mihawk says a frog in the well doesn’t know the dangers of the world
I still think his lack of direction stems from the Sandai Kitetsu. Being "met with a horrible end" could mean always arriving at the wrong destination. 🤷🏻♀️
Hey Tekking, Don Krieg is NOT omitted, the actor playing him is Milton Schorr. It could look like that after Don Krieg is defeated and Mihawk has appeared, Arlong comes to the Baratie to test the fighting cooks and intentionally meets the Straw Hats and nami
They are probably omitting smoker and replacing him with Garp, to me that would be one of the worst mistakes in the show. Unless he was cast and I'm uninformed.
@@MrVenom626 could be, but the first trailer had the barrel scene that took place after Loguetown. Course, that could've just been moved. Though if Loguetown isn't in this season, the guy in green at Roger's execution is 100% Dragon, since Dragon is already cast and appears this season.
@@lucas33308hat dont make sense. Garp will clearly appears at Roger execution, in relation to Coby and Helmeppo, and capturing some pirate since he fires a cannonball at something. Also what makes Loguetown great is that Smoker really wants to capture the straw hats, while Garp not, so the tension can only come from Smoker. My concern is more of not even having Loguetown at all, they could just leave Arlong Park, have the barrel scene and them out to the grand line. However Loguetown in the last of episode in this series is a nice connection to the first episode with Roger execution, and is also the first time where Fate helps Luffy, and Dragon makes his speech, so is very important to be added.
44:15 My main issue with Arlong's design is that there is so much going on around his face, but then it pans out and the actors body proportions just seem a little awkward for Arlong making him a lot less terrifying. Also they seemed to leave out the sun tattoo on Arlong and fully button up his shirt which again, to me at least, feels a bit weird based on how much pride he had in being a sun pirate and following under Fisher-Tiger. Also 46:43 they seem to be keeping Don Krieg because the actor Milton Schorr has been cast to play him. I think the main thing Don Krieg did was provide a way to hype up Mihawk. Without him and his massive ship to be cut down by Mihawk the audience will only have the idea that Mihawk is the strongest swordsman in the world without any physical evidence of the gap between him and the Strawhats
@@RebootedTitan EXCACTLY! it's not like he looks like a completely different character who somewhat resembles Arlong, but he looks just off enough to where the OCD that I didn't know I had kicks in telling me something is wrong with this image
I agree with arlong. His face actually looks TOO good whereas his body is just.....normal? He needs ro be bigger , his gills and fins and shark parts need to be more pronounced on his arms
I think it's tough to cast characters with large physiques but also have the actors give good performances. Like what if the rock played Arlong & looked visually impressive but just gave a terrible performance. If these are the two options I'd rather a good acting performance that is less accurate physically to the character than the other way around. Though idk if there's a way they could've used CGI to make this actor appear bigger etc, so maybe there's a middle ground somewhere
I don't think that Arlong will play a major role in the baratie portion of the story, he'll probably appear towards the end to take Nami away, and that would motivate them to go after her, that's my theory. Don krieg still probably going to make an appearance. I'm pretty sure they casted him.
Well I was thinking that the reason Nami goes off to Arlong in the series is because she sees the wanted poster that Johnny and Yosukue dropped which reminds her of that. So it might be a similar thing but Arlong is actually there in person, however he does'nt know she's there but she sees him before he leaves.
We see Mihawk destroys Don’s ship and then comes aboard the Baratiea and encounters the straw hats fighting arlong and scares off arlong and fights Zoro. Gin’s replacement is Hatchi, but I wonder if he has his moment with Zoro in arlong park as well.
I think Arlong is gonna appear at the beginning and Nami leaves because of him so he won't harm the Strawhat And Kreig may lead a fleet of human pirates under Arlong, he sent to deal with Luffy so he can say he had nothing to do with him. Although the Fleet gets greatly diminished by Mihawk, in the progress.
The problem with Arlong taking Nami away is that it doesn't build hers mischievous persona, and how they will probably drop her sensuality fearing being canceled, Nami could be just a Sakura in this live action, having no depth at all and just saying powerful stuff because she's a powerfull girl. Tbh that could even destroy the hat scene, because at the anime and the manga that was a plot twist scene, but if she's already shown as a kind and troubled girl, it won't have the same impact.
There is an anime-only scene flashback of Roger that they could possibly include as it was a decent bit of early pirate lore, that being the closed down Pirate Bar in Loguetown ran by Raoul. The moment where Raoul see's Roger and Luffy overlap in time sitting at the same barstool with the same smile would be so good.
This was one of the more memorable One Piece moments for me. I graduated medschool on the same day while I was watching this trailer! I hope I'll be making a difference to the world, same way Chopper is as the Strawhat's doctor.
People tend to forget that the most important part of casting choice isn't physical appearance, but acting abilities. This is in regards to how Shanks looks
I mean, looking like the character you're playing is very important aswell. Like, I don't think it work to have Leonardo Dicapro play Luffy or Zoro or Ussop or anyone like that.
He actually doesn’t look bad. In the trailer he looks kinda goofy, but another picture I saw outside of it of him in his make up and without the hat, he looks pretty good
I keep seeing mihawk >>>> shanks which i understand from what was seen in the trailer but hoo boy are they gonna eat their words when they see Peter gadiot's performance
My one problem with Krieg not showing up is that with no Krieg, there’s no Gin, and Gin is extremely important to Sanji’s characterization. I hope we will see at least a bit of them.
I generally agree, but like, does it HAVE to be Gin? The relevance to Sanji's character arc at that point is that he goes against (very justified!) societal expectations and feeds a dying criminal, who could fuck the Baratie up if he recovers. So what would actually change about Sanji's characterization if the one he feeds is an Arlong pirate instead of a Don Krieg pirate? I don't think it makes a difference - we'd still see him sticking to his values on food even when facing the (arguably even bigger) threat of angry fishmen pirates. I really like Gin and his little mini arc of betrayal and self-sacrifice, but it's not like Don Krieg is a particularly relevant character - he's basically a sideshow in his own arc and mostly just there to show off how insane Mihawk is and then never shows up again. When you have to condense a whole arc to 8 (long, but still) episodes, you need to trim some fat, and unlike Buggy, Arlong and even Alvida, which are all recurring characters, Don Krieg and Gin have the most easily replaceable role because we really just need ANY overly strong enemy attacking the Baratie as a direct result of Sanji's actions to get the characterization beats we want out of the arc :)
I have seen people say that this Roger doesn't have the same feel as the manga Roger but the dude is suppose to be terminally ill at this point. He should not look muscular like he did in the Oden Flashback. While I am fine with how Arlong looks in this, the biggest issue would be his attacks. He takes off his own teeth and uses them as weapons. He also launches himself as a projectile. If Krieg is just removed, we might also not see Mihawk cut a ship in half. That is one of the coolest panels in early One piece and I highly doubt they would remove that unless it was just too much to do for their budget.
Keep in mind that it is a trailer. I believe most of the highlights we know in the east blue saga would still be present. But of course we need to save some surprises for when it actually releases. And I doubt they'd lose budget over Mihawk cutting a ship since Oda himself says they didn't cut corners.
Logic doesnt make sense he was terminally ill when he fought whitebeard and he still was built, same with terminally ill whitebeard at marineford. People using the excuse of him being ill for roger is a shitty one
@Lebrianjohnson what??? Bro Roger turned himself in when the disease was about to kill him. He fought whitebeard before his final journey that took over a year. His disease was progressing that whole time, to the the point where he disbanded the crew and turned himself in.
Foxys Poster there pretty much means they wont skip LRLL if they get so far, and thats the best news for me :D Cant wait for Afro Luffy and the Davy Back Fight!
When the first teaser came out, watching the first time I still felt unsure if it was good enough. But for this trailer, I was just fully into it. It was just all hype for me from beginning to end! I really hope this succeeds or at the very least not be bad.
Personally i’m not a big fan of the Shanks casting but its like… They probably hired a not that great looking older actor that was cheap to hire because Shanks has close to 0 screentime until Marineford anyway.
Garp being at the execution makes sense. He was Roger's rival. He wasn't there in the manga, simply because he wasn't introduced yet. If he was already introduced back then, he would've been present. And Smoker named the crew in Alabasta. If they stuck with that, we would go the entire season without the name drop of our main crew. Yes, could they have changed it so Smoker names the crew in Logue Town? Of course. But that would've also been a change, and one that doesn't really make sense, seeing as Smoker didn't have any kind of begrudging respect for them yet.
I'm hyped! Buggy's Chop Chop moment made me laugh harder than the helicopter-dinosaur and I absolutely in love with the cast (not just a Straw hat but all characters). I'm intrigued by the changes in the story and I hope this adaptation brings new people into our fandom. I'm still afraid of failure, but I've 9/10 hope for success
I feel like the changes makes the series much more interesting, or else the whole thing would have been like, "did the copy it right", Looking forward to be caught off guard by the changes.
Nami is acting here like how Robin acted when she joined the crew. Very reserved and what not. Just need to reach the end of this season and then will see Nami's whole dynamic.
Zeff's commentary to Sanji about Luffy's fight with Krieg is what made me fall in love with One Piece. Krieg is there to show you that fancy weapons and numbers don't guarantee success in the Grand Line.
I was actually thinking that shot of Sanji looking up could be when he and Luffy share dreams with each other. I need the "Have you heard of the All Blue?" moment.
No. No one except zoro is even close to acceptable. So many wrong things. Just because it's one piece doesn't mean it won't be DragonBall evolution part 2
I watched this trailer and cried in excited. Tears down my face and cried in excitement. Its the perfect anime to do live action. Be as goofy as possible. That's one piece.
29:55 This COULD just be some visual storytelling, that's not depicting literal events. Mihawk has a pretty famous line in Baratie "Frog in the well, know how big the world really is!" refering ofcourse to how little of the world Zoro has seen to naively think he can beat Mihawk.
If there is anyone out there who would weep for the exclusion of freaking Don Krieg, they were never going to have a chance with this show in the first place.
There's no Loguetown, it was likely cut when they reduced it from 10 episodes to 8. I mean for what it's worth I'm only using IMDB as a guide, but every person associated with Arlong Park (Nojiko, Gen, Bellemere, Arlong etc) are credited for Episode 8. With Arlong himself credited for 4 total episodes. Krieg has an actor listed on IMDB and credited for 3 Episodes. The way it works out is Luffy/Zoro are in 8 episodes, Nami is in 7, Usopp is in 6, Sanji is in 5 (So if that's all accurate that gives you the breakdown of what's in each episode) but there's some real odd outliers in there, like Yasopp, who appears in 3 Episodes. Another reason to see that Loguetown is out, is that when it was 10 episodes, Jeff Ward was credited for Episodes 2, 9 and 10 for Buggy, and now it just says Episode 2. Perhaps it's even been filmed and they just didn't do the post yet. In which case they get a head start for season 2.
I imagine 2 of those Yasopp appearances will be 1 flashback either 1st or 2nd episode, and another flashback when Luffy meets Usopp They could also cut to present day Shanks if they give Luffy his bounty in season 1.
Of course they are. Even if they cut absolutely nothing at all from the manga canon, there's not enough content between reverse mountain and Nami leaving Cocoyashi after the arlong fight to take up an entire hour long episode.
Imdb is much like wikipedia in that it's too easy to manipluate so no I'm not trusting that and there's no chance in hell Oda would let Logue Town get cut, it's way too important to the story of One piece not to mention it introduces TWO major charachters.
@@Cloud-dt6xb The events of Logue Town in itself are not really relevant, and the introduction of characters can always be done elsewhere... especially in the case of Dragon, whose purpose in the story still is unclear. Frankly speaking, of the things that can be skipped in East Blue without harming the story at all, Logue Town is near the top.
2:33 The person on the right in the green hood is probably Dragon 5:44 To the right of the man with the glasses in the crowd in the trailer proper, there's a man in a hat sort of set apart from everyone which is probably an extra but I believe that's Crocodile We know both of them were at Roger's execution at least in the main story
Also in Roger's execution, in one of the close up shots of the crowd, you can make out someone with blue hair wearing a black bandana which is probably a young Buggy on the side. He's wearing the exact same clothes in the flashbacks
@@Sigmaairav Aye, you're right, he was. I was looking for him, Doflamingo, and Mihawk. You know I hope now that when Mihawk appears and after Luffy tells him he wants to be King of the Pirates, it cuts to Mihawk watching Roger's execution for a second, giving his POV of that scene.
There’s a marine that wears a hat similar to that one and a suit I know it’s no much to go of on but I’m bad with names so could be that character and no crocodile.
That would be hype. I honestly think they could cover all Logue Town, Whiskey Peak, Drum Island, and Alabasta in 8-10 episodes. They may need to cut Little Garden for the Dinosaur effects, but even that could probably work.
@@jackroberts2704 Go the whole hog I say. They'd only need a couple minutes of dino cgi, and while they technically could get away with skipping Little Garden, it would be a bit of a shame if they did. Anyway, I agree it could be done in 10 episodes, and with some give-or-take it's easy to see how it could get broken down: 1. Logue Town/Reverse Mountain 2. Whiskey Peak 3. Little Garden 4. Drum Island 1 5. Drum Island 2 6. Alabasta 1 7. Alabasta 2 8. Alabasta 3 9. Alabasta 4 10. Alabasta 5
If you are the type of viewer who is “uhm actually, pirate number 3 on Alvida’s crew wore a navy blue bandana in the manga and anime but in the live action it’s more of a powder blue, therefore this entire endeavor is a failure”, you are an insufferable jerk. If Luffy naming his crew instead of Smoker bothers you, you are an insufferable jerk and someone who wants misery in their life.
good to see someone actually go through it and notice the small details. i personally ofc went 0.25x speed on my first watch to try and catch everything. Im editing this as i watch but also saying gol d roger makes me so happy. I hate when people say gold roger. So far it seems you have missed some details, like it appears they show that buggy is in the crowd when roger is killed. And also the person in the green coat thing stands out. only 17 min, but there are a lot of stuff i agree with and im happy to see im not the only one who notices that stuff like 57 min in now, realized i forgot to keep updating the comment haha, but im so glad you noticed cavendish too. also in general the scene with the posters i realized we have a lot of the same comments (when i watched the trailer i used 0,25x and the video ended up like 40min, not to be posted just for me to have) It was a really good video, and i probally could have commented more but i tried to not do too much.
People knocking Shanks... it's 99% the hat, it's too small for his head. They should've made him his own hat, no-one would notice it's bigger than Inaki's.
I'm gonna be honest, I was very, VERY vary of the idea of a live action version of One Piece, but everytime I saw anything about it, be it the introduction of the actors, the set pieces, the teaser and now finally the trailer, my aversion got turned into genuine hype more and more. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I am already on an 8! I am genuinely hyped and can't wait to watch the adaptation! please please please please please please be good!
I'm at at least nine, but I feel like I've been at a nine since I heard this was first announced. I have been following the development of this show since it was announced back in 2017, and I can't believe it's almost upon us, I hope we get a season two. I genuinely think this could be the next big series that everybody talks about. Even if it's not, I am so Hype, I cannot even express how much. I do have a theory though, that despite that we've seen the barrel scene in the teaser, that the show is actually going to end before we get to Loguetown. Because Tashigi and Smoker have not been announced, if they've been cast at all, so that makes me think that they may have moved the barrel scene to the end of this season and then we're going to open season two, if we get it, with Loguetown.
Hey Tekking, since you mentioned that watching the Live Action One Pice might be like watching a different universe, I had a neat idea: Craft a OP series in a universe where 4Kids kept dubbing it. Like, Look at Skypiea and on wards making changes to accommodate the changes 4kids made, and changes they likely would have made.
I saw someone mention they could have done camera tricks to make arlong bigger like in lotr. Seems like a good idea but could be tricky with all the fight scenes
As why Arlong in Baratie, my best guess is maybe he's going after Nami because he need her to draw the map, since Nami is on the run or something.... and that's will make a good motivation for the crew especially for new member like Ussop or Sanji to go along with Luffy to save her
I watched this a lot & loved it with the actors who just feel like the characters, the attention to details (like Roger’s roger on his coat, the Straw Hats outfits, Arlong having an actual sawshark nose, & Alvida’s cannon balls explode with heart shaped confetti), & all of the references that I can spot, but while that I think it will be good I am sad that they have omitted some characters (Krieg is played by Milton Schorr) like Gin (which maybe in the series but just haven’t been announced who will play him like the others), Gaimon (it’s hard to see him in live action), & Hachi (which I can see him being used later a Sabaody where they could say that he left Arlong due to them treating Nami all the while giving them a connection)
I feel like Gin is an important part of Sanji's story. Don Krieg might not be as important but the scene with Sanji giving a starved Gin some food is a core to his character introduction. Then later finding out the conflict of feeding someone who will eventually cross you despite your kindness. It shows how pirate life really is.
I think I'm at an 11. After seeing the whole trailer about 17ish times and then seeing your breakdown as well as grand lines I'm ready to sell whatever I can to buy a boat and go find this damned treasure.
I think the shanks look is weird because he has shorter hair, but he does in the manga too it's not till later when he doesn't have the strawhat and his hair grows longer. I think the actor will look good when they go with the longer haired look
I like to view it as a “different universe” of One Piece … cause Anime to Manga is different as well so why not make it just “another universe” … it’s stupid but it’ll be a work around … I love this and can’t wait I’m so happy for it !
I am excited for the live-action. I generally don't like when things are changed, but I understand it is necessary when both adapting a comic to live action and trying to compress all of Eastblue into 8 episodes. The people making the series seem to be genuine fans of One Piece, so I think they can be trusted to make changes if necessary. I really like how Luffy is portrayed.
All I could ever really ask for from this is for it to be an earnest, good-faith attempt to make a respectful adaptation. I think there can be no doubt at this point that the people who worked on this were really passionate about it, and I'm satisfied with that.
It’s more than fine to me that Luffy named the crew, but I do really like in the manga that Luffy never gives or refers to himself as Strawhat or Mugiwara. Kinda like he gives nicknames to everyone else
Cutting Krieg short can definitely work, but I feel like you need him and his crew to at least show up so you get the feeding Gin scene, which is so important to Sanji's characterization.
As a One Piece super fan and manga purist, I have to say that I’m really excited for this. Will it be as great and detailed as the manga? No, but that’s not what it’s trying to do. It’s going to be its own thing and it’s going to own it. The creators clearly respect the original story a lot and it really shows because all the compromises come from a practical perspective instead of a “I can do it way better” perspective. Every change is made with care and the worldbuilding is at its strongest. This seems like a true love letter to long time fans of the series and a great gateway for new fans to see if they’d like to take the plunge into One Piece’s word. When the season releases I’m going to watch every episode with my family so we can all enjoy the show for what it is. I can’t wait.
that zorro shot in the well could be a representation of mihawk's statement to zorro "your a frog living in the bottom of the well never knowing of the vast ocean"
I saw a theory that to me makes a lot of sense. The episodes leading up to Syrup village have minor changes but at the end of syrup village we see Arlong pull up to Buggy’s tent (which you can briefly see in the trailer from the clown behind Arlong during the scene before kicking Luffy through the front of Baratie) and Buggy tells him about the SH Pirates. Arlong finds out Nami is with them and goes to Baratie. Thus creating a more overarching villain for the season. R
I love this channel so much because it can get anyone-ANYONE which has never ingested nor doesn’t want to take in any ONE PIECE content into ONE PIECE fast because of tekking himself. If an alien with the power to wipe out the solar system came here and had to be convinced to read ONE PIECE to save us all, I’d give them tekking to do the talking
The scene where Luffy names the crew could also be set at the end of the season, I would not exclude that Smoker already called them "Strawhat pirates" at that stage, and Luffy is just deciding in that moment to adopt the name, perhaps as they are sailing towards Reverse Mountain. Anyway, how can you ask people to not compare the show to the manga or the anime? This show needs to demonstrate that it has a reason to exist, it can't only be a shorter, watered down, full of compromises and changes version of a story that is being told by 2 other medias in a way better manner. The fans sense this, they want to like it, but the show needs to earn it. So far it sparks curiosity, I'll give it that, I will not care at all about changes in the staging of the show, as long as the overall plot remains the one that it should be, and they don't make Luffy have sex with some girl after 3 episodes, because Netflix.
There are still a lot of things that I don't like, or that I think that are strictly inferior to the manga. But I can see the love put into it. Viewing it as a love letter to the series from fans? I think it looks fun! And that is infinitely more than I can say for other anime adaptations. I am definitely watching and I hope that they are successful with it.
Yeah people going into this and expecting them not to change some things are in for a bad time honestly It's a going to be a fun adaptation regardless of the changes i think
@@XALKEMPORAS thats not the point, i dont care about the changes, but Sanji's superhero landing, Arlong being skinny with a helmet twice his size (and actually all villains looking like cheap cosplayers), and Anaki sounding like a triggered kid playing call of duty while talking serious to Arlong (at least thats solved with the original cast on the japanese dub), those things really made me cringe while watching the trailer, giving me dragon ball evolution vibes. But i really hope that the actors perform well enough for those things to be irrelevant, Buggy and Arlong showed some great promises on that, but i know that it will be tough every time Sanji lands like iron man
@peixeiragamers to be fair i don't see how you can translate some one piece characters in live action without looking like cosplay Personally i don't have any expectations if it's cool and entertaining i'm good Live action adaptations have a low enough bar making this look actually decent If you want to nitpick go ahead don't really care
@@XALKEMPORAS oh yeah, they had an impossible job. I just would have not made the show. But they had the opportunity and they are doing things about as well as I think they can be done. Or at least I think so.
You know, the thing that irks me the most when it comes to the Live Action cast is Roger. His mustache is not majestic enough. It should cover his entire cheeks
I'm honestly super hyped for this, and I wanna go in with an open mind, and just allow the show to be it's own thing and see what it can bring! Something that caught my eye is the scene of Zoro in the well. I'm assuming this is in reference to when Mihawk calls zoro a "Frog in a Well" during there confrontation, and i think this scene will play out as a nightmare zoro has while unconscious, recovering from the fight. I think this will lead to the moment when Zoro pledges his allegiance to Luffy, and honestly I kinda like that, we dont really get alot of emotional introspection from Zoro in the manga, so showing how he feels visually like that could be a neat character moment.
@@johnnoreau3570 I'll keep an open mind. Chopper is a main crew member so he would have A LOT of screen time. I cant imagine that'll be easy or cheap. Then again Marvel was able to do Rocket well enough. So it's not impossible.
@@anonthemouce I guess it'll come down to how many watch more than 2-3 episodes. I have no doubt that the first episode will get a bunch of watches. It just has to hook people.
I’m at a 9/10 for OPLA. Really interested to see what it looks like all put together, I certainly have some nitpick thoughts on what could have looked better. But I think it shows a lot of promise. The one thing I have questions about is Garp’s ship pursuing the Merry. It appears that will be how the season ends, but I’m curious how they will handle Garp going after the Merry and if he knows it’s Luffy’s ship.
I really like the reveal of Garp and Dragon as Luffy's family at the end of Ennies Lobby. So I hope it doesn't get revealed to the strawhats that Garp is Luffy's grandfather. But how would they make it work I wonder about how a random navy ship chases them lol.
@@Martin-yh7vi That's the only way I can see it, that Garp just sees a pirate flag and chases it down. While also introducing Koby and Helmepo on Garp's ship. Maybe Koby even creating an excuse to help Luffy's ship get away.
The collective nervous anxiety of the anime community in anticipation is one of the most interesting things to be a part of right now. We live in a world where “live action anime adaptation” is something we all fear, but here we are in nervous anticipation of what may be an unprecedented event in anime history 😂 has the creator of a series ever been involved in production like this? The love Oda has for us and One Piece is why we all still have faith in this I think
Arlong and Kuroobi should've been cast as some especially tall men, probably muscular types like WWE wrestlers, as they're supposed to appear superhuman in build and strength
@@melissamarcott1059well yeah. It’s not hard to convince half drunk rednecks that wrastling is real. Don’t need the acting skills of Jim Carey to shout in a microphone at someone.
The Roger in the live action i get the idea that he knows what he is about to start, it's an almost devious portrayal. He's starting chaos and he revels in it. Also i like that he looks sickly cause in the manga he was basically dying. So many reactors have been very critical of how Arlong looks. Personally i'm ok with it cause how else are they going to make a guy that looks like that in live action without looking fake. The use of practical effects instead of CGI gives him a believable identity, that a guy like that could exist. As long as they nail his threatening demeanor i'm all for it. Gotta remember that a lot of the production had to go through Oda-san & his approval. And for him to release that heart felt letter saying how proud he is & how excited he is about it, one would assume that if this got his seal of approval who's going to have the guts to question his decisions?
Not sure how I feel about Luffy coming up with the name of the crew himself and it not being something Smoker ends up giving to them. Personally I would push it up from Alabasta to at the end of Logue Town so we get the name drop before the end of the season. Also they miss the golden opportunity for Luffy to keep coming up with ridiculous names for the crew and being turned down by all the other members.
Gin is one of my favorite characters, and I would be sad if he doesn't get big screen time, but I completely understand if they reduce or cut them. Krieg is an overall bit villain with little plot relevance going forward, and giving more set up to Arlong as a major villain on a TV show makes more sense.
Tekking101 is the only one who is able to turns a 3 minute trailer into a 1 hour long video.

I do love the stylistic choice of having Kuro slowly show up from behind Merry. That is a very good shot
They also did a good job making the actor for Merry look like a completely different person cause when I saw the actor I was like he looks way to cool to play him.
Because Kuro being the villain is supposed to be this big reveal and so you don't want to spoil that.

@@danielzakgaim2764by then Tekking will have the perfect age to play him
I doubt Krieg is completely omitted, I think he might be out of the trailer for the same reason as why I think Kuro's face is never seen.
His ship needs to be cut by mihawk as that bar of strength other reasons.
I'd take it with a grain of salt but, according to IMDb, Don Krieg will appear in 3 episodes.
Garp being present at the execution of Roger makes SO much sense, i mean they are friends and their relationship was close.
the live action look like its gonna be making the world more connected, i mean we clearly can see Arlong in buggy's arc, for me thats amazing and how it should be... a lot of powerful pirates are not gonna be waiting in their islands until the protagonist appears
They definitely gave the credit of catching Roger to Garp
But do you think that guy in the green cloak is Dragon. Like if Garp looks out into the crowd and sees his son
The live action does have the benefit of hindsight. They can make the world far more connected to future event while Oda had free ball some things
@@sofianesk3050 not needed. Just have Sengoku handle it, and if necessary throw in tsuru
@smbsuperfan271 you just made me remember the sidestep crab and laugh, thank you
I don’t think Krieg will be removed entirely because he’s already been casted (Played by Milton Schorr).
For the shape of the room I think that’s just the first floor of Arlong’s castle same with the door he was walking out of.
I agree, I thnk they are probably going make the Kreig fight shorter to give more time for Mihawk and for Arlong to show up at the end.
If it has to be one Krieg makes the most sense
Hope this show does well so we can at least get a season 2 😭🙏🏽 would love to see crocodile, chopper & Nico Robin !! I need to see that happen !
i want that too 😭
Chopper scares me. It would need CGI pretty much all of the time. It could be done kind of like Groot from Marvel, but how expensive would that be?
@@Rk91Mmaybe they’ll pull off what they pulled off in Sweet Tooth
Buggy’s portion is so interesting because at first it looks goofy and even a bit silly, but then your eyes slowly notice that the things flying around are chunks of his body. And by the time you hear him say his funny attack name, like a split second later like a bullet he launches his weapons at you. Great mixture of goofy fun and legit horror.
Yeah he's scary AF
The thing people need to remember about the outfits is that a lot of arcs or (at the very least) major fights take place over the span of 2 to 3 days tops. It wouldnt be strange for the characters to have the same clothing especially when a good number of them canonically dont bathe daily
Also, those are broke-ass pirates (at least in the east blue). They having one or two outfits do makes perfect sense
I still can't wrap my head around that the whole Dressrosa Arc happened barely over a day.

Net Piece is American made, a country with people of their own sense of entertainment. What Oda says, not only means nothing, it actively goes against it as a western target piece of media.
That aside everything about looks terrible.
I actually really like that Luffy names the crew "the Straw Hat Pirates" in this, I mean that makes sense, the Captain should be the one to name his crew, I always found it odd how Smoker was the one who named them originally so this is a good change that makes more sense!
i thought something bout that scene in the trailer seemed off to me somehow, didnt realize they never named themselves lol
I always assumed it was other people, be it; the daily mail, the marines or the people, that named it. That would explain crews named after their captain.
i would cheer if they would have a scene where they ask "Where did Zorro go?" and the next scene is him in the well not knowing how he ended up in it.
I think it was GLR who thinks the well scene is during Syrup Village, and this is why he was late to the fight with Kuros men, he got lost and ended up down a well

Hey Tekking,
Don Krieg is NOT omitted, the actor playing him is Milton Schorr.
@@lucas33308 I don't think so, i think we'll see Smoker and Loguetown in the next season.
Yeah I think Arlong arc is the end of season 1
I 100% agree with you involving Arlong, his body proportions are just off. Not terribly off but it does make a difference

I think Arlong is gonna appear at the beginning and Nami leaves because of him so he won't harm the Strawhat
And Kreig may lead a fleet of human pirates under Arlong, he sent to deal with Luffy so he can say he had nothing to do with him.
Loguetown had a bunch of anime-only scenes that were pretty decent.
Do people not remember how goofy Shanks looked in East Blue? What do they expect, some guy with a log-sized neck?
thats wild cause the guy playing luffy is horrible
My one problem with Krieg not showing up is that with no Krieg, there’s no Gin, and Gin is extremely important to Sanji’s characterization. I hope we will see at least a bit of them.
Krieg is casted, so, he's showing up.
@@DarkChaos1986unfortunately, though it could be just for a bounty poster or cameo. However i thin krieg is too important to sanjis intro
@@TheClanFollows and this is one way to spread toxic expectations.
You don't know that, none of the smaller villains is shown in the trailer.
Gin is the most important character in the series, I’m sure he’ll be waiting for the Straw Hats at Laughtale.
And I doubt they'd lose budget over Mihawk cutting a ship since Oda himself says they didn't cut corners.
the budget is 144 million with each episode having 18 million put into it.
Logic doesnt make sense he was terminally ill when he fought whitebeard and he still was built, same with terminally ill whitebeard at marineford. People using the excuse of him being ill for roger is a shitty one

East Blue- Season 1, Alabasta-2, Skypeia-3, Enies Lobby-4, Saoboady-5, Marineford-6, Punk Hazard-7, Dressrosa-8, Whole Cake-9, and Wano-10
29:55 This COULD just be some visual storytelling, that's not depicting literal events. Mihawk has a pretty famous line in Baratie "Frog in the well, know how big the world really is!" refering ofcourse to how little of the world Zoro has seen to naively think he can beat Mihawk.
This one is accurate!
I imagine 2 of those Yasopp appearances will be 1 flashback either 1st or 2nd episode, and another flashback when Luffy meets Usopp
They could also cut to present day Shanks if they give Luffy his bounty in season 1.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I am already on an 8! I am genuinely hyped and can't wait to watch the adaptation! please please please please please please be good!
I think Arlong is at the Baratie is because we don't have Yosaku and Johnny to tell the strawhats about arlong park and where nami went
I could imagine lol. Sanji failing to unwrap his lollipop in the rain after spying on Pudding planning to shoot him at the wedding.
I think it was koby asked why he wants to be a pirate
I think that Zoro in the well scene is when Mihawk tells him "frog in a well, know how large the world is"
I saw someone mention they could have done camera tricks to make arlong bigger like in lotr. Seems like a good idea but could be tricky with all the fight scenes
As why Arlong in Baratie, my best guess is maybe he's going after Nami because he need her to draw the map, since Nami is on the run or something.... and that's will make a good motivation for the crew especially for new member like Ussop or Sanji to go along with Luffy to save her
I love how fun the actors are having with the Live action the cast are doing the very best they can for the fans
@Tekking101 They announced Don Krieg's actor bro
Milton Schorr is playing as Don Krieg
To be honest Luffy's tight stiff vest kind of disappointed me
I think I'm at an 11.
36:10 the change from sandals to shoes was so impactful bro had to repeat himself
I like to view it as a “different universe” of One Piece … cause Anime to Manga is different as well so why not make it just “another universe” … it’s stupid but it’ll be a work around … I love this and can’t wait I’m so happy for it !
Ok crew watch party at captain Tek.D.King house.. who bringing the snacks????
And here it is, the video I was waiting for.
Tekking never disappoints :D
They better include a green haired canible (Bart) in luffys scene on the scaffolding
I thought, it was because he promised Shanks to give it back, and he doesn't think the strawhat actually belongs to him
I am heartbroken, that they decided to not make rogers mustache be his nosehair like in chapter 1.
I am surprised it took you this long to do a reaction to the new trailer.
Yeah the live action is hype!!!!
Cutting Krieg short can definitely work, but I feel like you need him and his crew to at least show up so you get the feeding Gin scene, which is so important to Sanji's characterization.
we got more water combat in this trailer than we did in the entire manga💀😭
I can just imagine the 20 hour behemoth of a video that Tekking would push out in that bundle-review.
And I wouldn't even be mad about it
As a One Piece super fan and manga purist, I have to say that I’m really excited for this.
I’m having a watch party with my coworkers and friends when it drops. But it’s gonna be a secret lock in…no one leaves until we watch the whole thing.
that zorro shot in the well could be a representation of mihawk's statement to zorro "your a frog living in the bottom of the well never knowing of the vast ocean"
38:15 Thank you for the arlong park upbringing backstory. It all makes complete sense.
Yeah people going into this and expecting them not to change some things are in for a bad time honestly
It's a going to be a fun adaptation regardless of the changes i think
@@XALKEMPORAS thats not the point, i dont care about the changes, but Sanji's superhero landing, Arlong being skinny with a helmet twice his size (and actually all villains looking like cheap cosplayers), and Anaki sounding like a triggered kid playing call of duty while talking serious to Arlong (at least thats solved with the original cast on the japanese dub), those things really made me cringe while watching the trailer, giving me dragon ball evolution vibes. But i really hope that the actors perform well enough for those things to be irrelevant, Buggy and Arlong showed some great promises on that, but i know that it will be tough every time Sanji lands like iron man
@peixeiragamers to be fair i don't see how you can translate some one piece characters in live action without looking like cosplay
Personally i don't have any expectations if it's cool and entertaining i'm good
Live action adaptations have a low enough bar making this look actually decent
If you want to nitpick go ahead don't really care
@@XALKEMPORAS oh yeah, they had an impossible job. I just would have not made the show. But they had the opportunity and they are doing things about as well as I think they can be done. Or at least I think so.
@@Vendavalez yup pretty much this
You know, the thing that irks me the most when it comes to the Live Action cast is Roger.
One easter egg you seem to have missed, at 3:00 you can see dragon in the crowd on the right
If it does get a season 2, my biggest worry is how they'll do Chopper.
Very carefully and lots of CGI.
@@johnnoreau3570 I'll keep an open mind. Chopper is a main crew member so he would have A LOT of screen time. I cant imagine that'll be easy or cheap.
Then again Marvel was able to do Rocket well enough. So it's not impossible.
@@anonthemouce I'm curious what does "do well" mean for streaming services exactly? Just the amount of people that watched, and reviews?
@@anonthemouce I guess it'll come down to how many watch more than 2-3 episodes. I have no doubt that the first episode will get a bunch of watches. It just has to hook people.
@@ipacklunchesIt's just annoying that Netflix and other streaming platforms hide their view count. Unlike with T.V we get a rough estimate.
It was so nice to meet you tekking the con was great!
Can wait for this show
Let's wait together!
30:50 THIS! he looks like hes having so much fun with the character, can't wait to see his performance
Maybe Koby even creating an excuse to help Luffy's ship get away.
you can even do the don krieg grand line exposure via arlong since he also comes from there and definitly had a more traumatic experience there
The collective nervous anxiety of the anime community in anticipation is one of the most interesting things to be a part of right now. We live in a world where “live action anime adaptation” is something we all fear, but here we are in nervous anticipation of what may be an unprecedented event in anime history 😂 has the creator of a series ever been involved in production like this? The love Oda has for us and One Piece is why we all still have faith in this I think
I think what trekking said about voice actors really needs to be appreciated this is literally the first time we here luffys voice coming from a boy
Arlong and Kuroobi should've been cast as some especially tall men, probably muscular types like WWE wrestlers, as they're supposed to appear superhuman in build and strength
Wrestlers almost always have atrocious acting skills.
Also they miss the golden opportunity for Luffy to keep coming up with ridiculous names for the crew and being turned down by all the other members.
it's a trailer, how do you know he didn't come up with ridiculous names before ?
Gin is one of my favorite characters, and I would be sad if he doesn't get big screen time, but I completely understand if they reduce or cut them. Krieg is an overall bit villain with little plot relevance going forward, and giving more set up to Arlong as a major villain on a TV show makes more sense.
