Exploring the remote rural Ashby canal in December 2019. Just to give some winter perspective - living on a boat isn't all sunshine and rainbows (though it IS always warm and cosy inside)

Awesome boat trip! Thanks for the ride! Greetings From Mexico! 🙂👍🍻 looking forward for more outdoors videos
De nada! Glad you enjoyed 🙂
Nice to see the canal in winter. Thanks for taking the time to capture it. Love Auriga 👍
You're most welcome. Glad you enjoyed. Snow Goose looks like a lovely boat also!
Billy Cosmosis Thanks. If you’re ever near Norton Junct I’d love to see Auriga.
@@rubbberrobbie Thanks! I appreciate it
Excellent vlog, love the morning mist and frost. Don't really get much mist here (semi arid desert) but get some spectacular hoar frost in the winter (-30 everything freezes lol). Can hardly wait for this nonsense to pass so I can come back home for a visit and get my biennial canal fix. Love the old Gardener, sounds beautiful. I also ride a Triumph btw (I would have to right?). They were the first motorcycle manufacturer you know - it says in the bible "and lo the roar of Moses Triumph could be heard throughout the hills" - who knew?
Thanks, glad you enjoyed! Narrowboats and a Triumph motorcycle? Nice one 👍😊
Pure ASMR :-) Thanks Mr. Halsey
Haha! :) You're welcome
Nice adventure
:)
We have the same issue with mooring and even some winding holes prove to be difficult ,a boat with more than a two foot draft can be troublesome which is ridiculous really it's just a complete lack of dredging properly.
Auriga is 2' 4" at the skeg. TBH it's quite rare that I find it to be a problem. Except on the 11 mile long top pound of the Oxford Canal in mid summer - which is shallow at the best of times. I couldn't get anywhere near the bank to moor for about 4 miles. I just had to keep going until well after dark.
We waiting goa for goa sounds!

Billy, been a massive fan of yours since I first bought Cosmology from a record shop in Shibuya during the mid 90's. Love these videos, but I have a simple question, do those boats (narrow boats) work as living spaces? It just seems like a great way to live.
Glad ya like the tunes Liam! Yes, I lived exclusively aboard my narrowboat (Auriga) for over 2 years. Travelled all around the rivers and canals in England & Wales, and wrote music aboard during my travels.
@@BillyCosmosis Beautiful! Thank you for the answer and all of your art over the years.
@@liamwesley1561 You're very welcome!
I've never been convinced of the legality of those no turning signs ,surely the water outside the marina belongs to the crt.
Yes, I think they rely more on social pressure than law. i.e the very worst that can happen is some jobsworth in the marina comes out and starts moaning. But imagine a police narrowboat with a blue light on top lurking in the bushes springing out and chugging down the canal at 3 & 1/2 mph to issue a ticket for "winding a floatating vehicle in a restricted area"
So you live on Ashby Canal? On the map it looks really short. Or if not, pls enlighten me as I have no clue :D
No. I was just exploring the Ashby Canal. I'm roaming freely around the 2,000 odd miles of inland waterways in the UK.
@@BillyCosmosis got it now. on the google map the canal looks like it ends within 1 mile. I guess thats not accurate?
@@MrJetMango Correct. The Ashby is about 22 miles long. canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/canal-and-river-network/ashby-canal
