jobs like removing the lining are good every now and again . . . you can shut down most of the front of your brain and just watch your hands get on with it.
i've gotten too old to do that anymore . . . so, Keith, enjoy your youth.
[ age all you want, just never get old ]

This was very soothing to watch. I might be the only subscriber that likes the painting bits, I guess. Thanks very much for this Steam Workshop update. I very much enjoy this series.

I remember the liner's at Dagenham Ford, abs craftsmen and so skilled and every line perfectly done with the flourish at each end, sadly replaced by vinyl stickers and so ended a tried and tested craft although the last Ford Cortina's built there were given hand painted lines as a kind of farewell but these were freehand painted with no jockey wheels or contraptions just one hand, one brush and an eye for quality. I did study signwriting myself at school and got a certificate and a few pub signs in Redhill were done by me as was some pub and cafe frontages, the skill was really in the brush, getting the paint the right thickness and a mar stick which was basically a pair of tights balled up and stuck to the end of a flexible dowelling rod and the "snipers breath" that moment where you just held your breath to still your hand when applying the very very fine dagger brush for the outline work, then a wider brush for the infills. My hands are so shaky now if I did try it would turn out like a three years old crayon work hehe

I am reminded of those old educational videos for steam locomotive repairs, but on a smaller scale and in color

I've also found that a pencil eraser or a guitar plectrum and lots of patience work well

I can't understand how you find the time not only to work at the Steam Workshop every day, but to produce a video of your work there every day.

Most of my videos are made in my home workshop - on my own projects . . . .

Screws and bolts... The general accepted definition in Australia is it is a bolt if it is only threaded for a portion of its length, it becomes a screw (or set screw) it it threaded for the entire length regardless of the head..

That B1 is delightful, do love the class other than one of 'em got called West Ham, isn't 61306 now called Mayflower which was previously carried by scrapped 61379?

And with that lame pun about riding Sea Horses, I'd sign off too :)

WD-40 is also good for removing the adhesive for bumper stickers - I think it would work here but painting afterward would be an issue.

And now a nice girlfriend story. When I was at school and hit 16. One of the girls turned up with a big red ribbon tied into a bow at her waist. She said she was my birthday present. Happy Days!!
