Once you see something that's credited as written by Hans Christian Anderson, expect the actual story to be darker than what you're about to be told.
Her feet feet were cut off and kept dancing
And they didn't stop til the day of her death
:I
In the original she danced till she died
Or got her feet cut off I don’t remember well
@@StarMisura her feet got cut off indeed but they, the feet, didn't stop dancing
That's the issue
I always found these cartoons creepy. I was 7 years old in the early 90s.
My grandma had this cartoon on video when I was little. Glad to see it again!
I hope you enjoy it again and again! Grandmas have the best tastes in videos.
This brings back so many memories. This used to be my favorite segment on an old VHS tape I had as a kid.
My grandma has a bunch of these. They seemed so much longer than 5-6 minutes when I watched them at her house😂
Watching this for the first time in 25 years in my new pair of bright red sneakers. That angel can fight me for them.
I watched all these mel o toons on a video tape with Cinderella on the cover. It came with a free watch! It had a Felix the Cat cartoon at the very end too! :) aww...
My grandma gave me these of vhs and I grew up watching it. Now I play it to my nephew and I hope it carries on
This brings back so many childhood memories! 🥰♥️🩰📖🇩🇰
Omg I had a vhs with this cartoon! Memories ~
Always remember to be grateful for what you have, not what you don’t have; and above all, don’t be stubborn otherwise it’ll cost you someday.
I used to have VHS tapes and I would watch these stories over and over again
Nostalgia at its finest!!!!! Years laters here we are 💕
My grandparents had these cartoons on a VHS tape that we used to watch
Wait until the kids hear the original version of the story later on.
@JesseGoodwin2635 In the original story, Karen gets her feet chopped off. She travels around until she meets a family and becomes their maid. She gives heart to God and ascends to heaven.
Michael Palmieri, I think she went to the executioner and had her feet chopped off but they still kept dancing. Then she couldn’t go to church because they were dancing in front of the door
@@miguelsonofzeus This is correct. Now on wooden feet and crutches, Karen lives for a while (I don't remember how long) working for a nice family and trying to atone for her sins (the old lady died because Karen wasn't there to take care of her or at least Karen wasn't there in her final moments). Finally, she reached a state of true repentance and was so overjoyed, she died on the spot and went to Heaven
I grew up with this and others on VHS. Of course it's not quite how Anderson wrote it but still neat
I had this on a VHS when I was little. I remember it.
The music you are hearing is from the ballet Coppelia by Leo Delibes-it's nice isn't it?
It's probably a good thing that they didn't go with the original ending for this story
This was on a vhs tape I had as a child. Lol my name is Karen I remember that
Watch it on 2021 ☺️
Mel-O-Toons presents:
"The Red Shoes" By Hans Christan Andersen
Told by Norman Rose
With audio from a Cricket Record Album # C 737
I had this on tape
I love this story
She looks like the girl from Alice in Wonderland but without the white apron!
It would be cool if this was a Disney short film
That is a good point. Hans Christian Andersen has made Disney a lot of money.
@@ChildrensMediaArchive16 Karen looks like Alice from Disney's Alice in Wonderland
Why does Karen look like Alice from Disney's Alice in Wonderland?
I never noticed that. It is not impossible one of the animators from that film worked on this short.
Brandy Loutherback I don't know why she looks like Alice, but she's a very beautiful girl.
classic
In the Three Stooges short Hula La La, Moe called Shemp Red Shoes....lol!!
Omg why im am keep hearing that name?!. Does it means something or no do anyone know?!.
They should make New episode or make live action movie
Did they ever make a video with the amputation?
i remember another animated versions of this fairy tale, but i cannot remember them, can someone tell me where to find them?
From Fairytale Cartoons to Vintage Bozo Cartoons (WGBS-TV’s Bozo Show Only)
Karen love red shoes
Tbh the old woman was a little mean they made her those shoes and bc she didn't like red she made her get rid of them
That reminds me of something that doesn't make sense: if the old lady had such poor eyesight that she believed Karen when she told her that her new red shoes were black, then how could she have known that Karen's original cloth sandals were red?
Also, how was the old lady able to recover from her illness without Karen around to nurse her back to health?
The old lady was very devout and Karen was growing more vain. The lady thought her red shoes were too gaudy. Mean but still lends some context. As for the question about the original shoes, maybe the old woman's eye sight got worse over the years or someone simply mentioned the color of the first pair to her.

Hans Christian Anderson predicted the Karen
No cut off her legs?
Oh they completely watered down the story lol
they sure did, I would like to see a version that follows the original story more closely ;)

Fairytale Cartoons from The Bozo Show (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Version)
This story is not correct....
changing a ending with no permission is not nice :|
And lying to kids is also not nice :|
I cannot believe I found this!! I watched this when I was little, about 19 years ago. My parents bought me a video tape that had all these cartoons on it and this was one of them. I was trying to find it somewhere online but couldn't seem to. I am soo glad to have seen this!!!!!!!!
