Funny thing is, the person he's singing with is his wife. SHE'S the backup. And he's playing the guitar. Check on UA-cam for the Austin City Live of him performing Tennessee Whiskey with his wife. GREAT SHOW!
One of those few artists where his live performances are 10x better than the recorded. He's a true performer....that suffers from stage fright. It's insane and an oxymoron. Incredible artist.
This song is around 40-50 years old and when Chris redid the song with his blues sound in his voice it killed the charts. It was always a great song and I remember it growing up with David Allen Coe and George Jones.
Cold at the CMAs, Sometimes I cry (Bing Lounge,) National anthem at this year's Super Bowl and his duets with H.E.R and P!nk are all INCREDIBLE. Rule #1 always react to his live performances 😃. Great reaction!!
This is a cover that was done by two other artists. However, the song never really was a hit until Chris Stapleton released it. This really introduced the world to Chris Stapleton. ♥️♥️♥️
Your insight on this song is amazing! As a retired D&A therapist, I’ve seen where the bottle can take people. 👏👏 on your choice to not go there❤️ Keep doing what you do
That's his wife singing backup. They have 5 children. George jones recorded it, but Chris's version is FIRE. I'm so glad to see all of these young reactors FINALLY listening to real music with people who can sing. No auro tune or messing with the vocals. Some of th so-called artists of today couldn't sing a note if they used their real voice. The 80's and 90s were the best Era. Check out the bee gees Carrie underwood Sheena Easton "Almost over you" Lional richie Bruce Springsteen Steve perry Ray Charles Kenny rodgers "The Gambler" Madonna Too many to list. I loved your reaction. Real joy and genuine reaction
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 Welcome to the big leagues 😂😂😂 Another great song by Chris Stapleton is 🎵Midnight train to Memphis 🎶 You gonna love this one too Keep the good work my friend ✌️ Also # Tennessee Whiskey ( LIVE From Austin City Limits) # Either way (Live) # Millionaire (Live) # Cold ( CMT live) # Fire Away (official video) # I was wrong ( live from Austin City Limits) # WATCH you burn (VMT LIVE) # Death Row (with lyrics) # More of you ( From the tinny desk concert).... .....all fire song🔥 ... and many more 👍🏻
I am not generally a Country Fan either, however Chris Stapleton's voice is definitely in a sub genre of Country, more along the lines of Country Rhythm & Blues, with a crap load of soul!!! His is a select few Country singers that I absolutely love & listen to quite frequently 😊 And as always, your reactions make me smile, so thank you from the bottom of my heart Shon ❤
New to your channel. Great reaction 😊 love your genuine enthusiasm and energy. You’re absolutely adorable and what a beautiful smile 😊 looking forward to more reactions ❤
If it’s not the live performance you are missing a real treat. Ok you want to watch his live performances which sound better than his recordings. 1. Live impromptu performance of It’s A Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World 🌎 2. Sometimes I Cry 😢 live at the Bing Lounge 3. I Was Wrong live at Austin City Limits 4. Cold 🥶 live at the 2021 CMA 5. Hold On duet with H.E.R. at the CMA’s I think 2020. 6. Medley Duet with Justin Timberlake of Tennessee Whiskey 🥃/I Can’t Drink You Away CMA’s not sure of the year. 7. Live Duet with Jennifer Hudson at some awards show can’t remember the songs. 8. Tennessee Whiskey live performance at Austin City Limits. 9. Official Music Video Fire Away 10. Official Music Video Say Something Duet with Justin Timberlake. 11. DeathRow live performance at some country music awards show. There’s much more and before he became a singer he was a master guitarist and songwriter for many famous artists across genres so you probably know his work. You can Google that and get a list of songs and artists. I’m still working on that.
Great reaction......and I began dating a man and all he listened to was Country music....and first my ears and my mind revolted...and then I'd hear a song a few more times. I had to....that was all there was....and as I went along, those dang songs worked their way into my mind and my heart and I ended up truly enjoying Country music. Dwight Yoakam is Hillbilly Boogie, the Bakersfield sound. Merle Haggard....there's truly great music in that Category. No doubt about it.
Yes, that’s him playing the guitar. He’s a master at it. Have you heard / seen his live performance of Cold from the 2021 CMAs yet? If not, you should definitely check it out. You absolutely will not be disappointed. Great reaction!
Yes he's playing lead guitar. If you've ever had your heart broken. Then you can relate to Cold. If you've ever known someone who suffered with mental health then watch his video Fire away but you need the video to it. Chris and Justin Timberlake did a video called Say Something. They did it in one take. Watch you burn is another great
This is a cover actually, the song was originally performed by David Coe in 81’ and George Jones did a cover in 83’… but Chris did it the BEST by FAR!!! He’s a pure treasure ❤ and I completely agree with the other comments, you need to see his live performances
Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove wrote this …. The original singer that sang it was David Allen Cole , then George Jones did a cover …. George I think took it too #2 …. Then here comes Chris Stapleton that took it too 6 times platinum…. Until someone comes along better than Chris ( which I doubt could happen ) will always be the best version of this song . Now the Version that Chris did with Justin Timberlake on the CMA’s was outstanding …. You should check out that live version of Chris , Tim and Chris’s Wife
Another great reaction. I'm 43 and never drink alcohol and just from a cash dollars perspective, I cannot express what a good decision this is. Not only is it bars and and clubs, the older drinkers get, then it becomes every dinner, every brunch, every holiday. I bet per social.gathering at like mid level prices, I spend $30 less per event than people who drink. So, if you aren't interested and don't mind people giving you a hard time occasionally, it's a great strategy
I’m not a country music fan at all, but there are quite a few country songs that I actually do like and there are country artists that I really like and he’s one of them. But to me this is more blue than Country and that’s what I love. I love blues.
Shon definitely check out Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake / Tennessee whisky & drink you away ! live at the country music awards 2015 fricken amazing ! You will love it 😉✌🏽 🎶music is life 🥰 thanks for making me smile Shon 😃
This song is about the relationship with his female and a Tennessee whiskey would be something like Jack Daniel. But since you're doing some country reactions you need to do Brooks & Dunn believe it's based on the true story of the lead singer
The lady singing with him is his wife. Can't wait to see him June 8th. He did NOT write this song. Tennessee Whiskey" was written in 1981 by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. That is Chris playing the guitar 🎸
Shon, it's not that he drank because he was a boozer, rather because his life was desperately void of love, lacking worth and missing meaning. In his great sadness, he had come to use alcohol as the way to escape the emptiness and hopelessness. Until he met the love of his life.
I have a suggestion on a band u will no doubt absolutely love! "Dr. Hook and the medicine show" U won't regret it! Try "sexy eyes" or "when your in love with a beautiful woman". For a laugh even "cover of the rolling stone"
His wife is in his band and in many of the live versions you can tell he is singing it to her. An amazing song that in my mind transcends genre.
Funny thing is, the person he's singing with is his wife. SHE'S the backup. And he's playing the guitar. Check on UA-cam for the Austin City Live of him performing Tennessee Whiskey with his wife. GREAT SHOW!
I'm 55 years old and I love seeing you young guys covering this stuff... Thank You Sir 👍
One of those few artists where his live performances are 10x better than the recorded. He's a true performer....that suffers from stage fright. It's insane and an oxymoron. Incredible artist.
He does not & never did suffer from stage fright. That is internet myth.
Chris Stapleton is the TRUTH 🔥
This song is around 40-50 years old and when Chris redid the song with his blues sound in his voice it killed the charts. It was always a great song and I remember it growing up with David Allen Coe and George Jones.

Live is ALWAYS better with this man.
So glad you don't drink, don't ever start! This song is my life, my late husband saved me just like chris's wife did! I love this song!!❤

Which is almost NEVER the case!! But you are 100 percent right, his live stuff is crazy!
Yes that is Chris on lead guitar.

I like that you choose not to go down the booze path and freely admit that. Kudos, young man.
Yes he's playing lead guitar. If you've ever had your heart broken. Then you can relate to Cold. If you've ever known someone who suffered with mental health then watch his video Fire away but you need the video to it. Chris and Justin Timberlake did a video called Say Something. Dude..loved your reaction..62 year old former marine from south carolina
This is a cover actually, the song was originally performed by David Coe in 81’ and George Jones did a cover in 83’… but Chris did it the BEST by FAR!!! He’s a pure treasure ❤ and I completely agree with the other comments, you need to see his live performances
This song has created a lot of Chris Stapleton fans. Me included.
He's playing the guitar!

Shon I love your reaction its pure no bs...and your analogy of his song is right to the point..there's actuallya movie about this song.
Shirtless Shon! (that's how I think of you) 😉 Perfect reaction and you nailed the metaphors. Great job! 👍🥰
Another great reaction. I'm 43 and never drink alcohol and just from a cash dollars perspective, I cannot express what a good decision this is. I think you should react to Chris Stapleton " Super Bowl American Anthem " him and Whitney are the best!
I'm surprised you haven't had more reactions to this. This is a huge classic. Maybe YT isn't helping (I know they don't like me much). Peace, Love!!
Please do the Austin City Limits version, blows this album version away. One of the few artists that are actually better live!
Yasss! I agree
Great reaction! Keep up the excellent work.

Gotta do the Linkin Park JayZ 99 problems/points of authority! best colab ever!
Check out The Mills Brothers-Basin Street Blues, you will totally enjoy them.
Chris is one of the very few singers that are better live (imo). Not that this isn't great, it is. He just sings it much much better live. ❤
This song is about the relationship with his female and a Tennessee whiskey would be something like Jack Daniel. But since you're doing some country reactions you need to do Brooks & Dunn believe it's based on the true story of the lead singer
Hi, gotta listen to this sing live at Austin City Limits
You really need his Live version. It’s so much better and amazing. So much more to it !
Welcome to the rabbit hole, all are welcome... put your seatbelt on
The lady singing with him is his wife. Can't wait to see him June 8th. He did NOT write this song. Tennessee Whiskey" was written in 1981 by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. That is Chris playing the guitar 🎸
Please check out "COLD" by Chris. Great reaction ❤
Goggle the first country singer that sung it first, I think it was George Jones, he was a drinker and has since passed on.
Actually David Allen Coe was the original singer of this song
well there is a live video that most reactors use when doing their reactions to...
He's the lead guitarist
Shon, it's not that he drank because he was a boozer, rather because his life was desperately void of love, lacking worth and missing meaning. In his great sadness, he had come to use alcohol as the way to escape the emptiness and hopelessness. Until he met the love of his life.
I'm sorry I didn't see this video before I requested it. I'm going to try to think of another song for you!
