The most beautiful films of 1994 were: "Men of War " with Dolph lundgren, ""Speed" , and "The Chase" with an active Charlie Sheen in a fire red BMW. It was indeed a fun cinema year!
Definitely one of the strongest year for films. Mine will go like this 10. Angel dust (Ishii) 9. Clerks 8. Exotica 7. Through the olive trees 6. In the heat of the sun 5. The shawshank redemption 4. Ed wood 3. Three colors: Red 2. Chungking express 1. Pulp fiction
Pulp Fiction was nice! A very sad year for me as the biggest Telly Savalas fan! Because on January 24, Mr. Savalas passed away. But perhaps one can bring "Kojak" back to life with CGI effects just like Harrison Ford in "Indiana Jones and the dial of destiny" (2023).
TOP 10 MOVIES OF 1994: 1. The Lion King 2. Hoop Dreams 3. Quiz Show 4. Pulp Fiction 5. Ed Wood 6. The Shawshank Redemption 7. Clerks 8. The Crow 9. Wes Craven's New Nightmare 10. Leon: The Professional
Wow! How did I miss this notification 2 days ago? Im so happy to see a list from this year. So many great movies. Thank you, I love so many from this year. Dumb and Dumber is my favorite. Best wishes to you till next time!
One of my favourite movies from 1994 would be "Cemetery Man." Really strange and a lot of fun, kind of a Giallo zombie movie. Cemetery Man (1994) This Michele Soavi horror film is on a unique border. He has the Giallo influence of Dario Argento and Lucio Fulci (both mentors of Soavi for years) together with the irreverence and comedy of his own time. From parody to artistic ambition, idiotic humor, and existentialism, Cemetery Man is undoubtedly tonally odd. And yet, everything looks incredibly controlled. The main reason for its success is its main character. Francesco Dellamorte (Rupert Everett) is an undertaker at times enigmatic, masochistic, stoic, and with a unique vision about sexuality and love. And the fact that it works speaks wonders about Everett's underestimated talent.
Great work as ever man, much appreciated. Aside from ones you mentioned, I also loved - The Postman (Il Postino), Wyatt Earp (an often-overlooked epic) and Nobody's Fool (Paul Newman on solid, honest form) A 'so bad it's good' favourite of mine that year was Sherlock Bones: Undercover Dog
Quentin Tarantino listed "Wyatt Earp" among his favorite 1994 films; he said it was Kevin Costner's "Hamlet." I think it's very long and slow. But "Nobody's Fool" is a great choice.
My top ten (for now): 10. Felidae 9. Speed 8. Leon: The Professional 7. To Live 6. Forrest Gump 5. Three Colors: White 4. Three Colors: Red 3. Pulp Fiction 2. The Lion King 1. The Shawshank Redemption

To your sub-list of 'films showing 1994 as an off-year for lots of name directors' add Altman's Ready To Wear which stunk (shocking at the time after Altman's rousing comeback with The Player and Short Cuts).
