okay so im also a bit new to EXO but i have been into kpop for a while now so this is what i know that could help you not be so confused; first of all all the members have solo songs apart from the group, the members are Suho, Xiumin, Lay, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, D.O, Kai and Sehun. In kpop most groups are formed of 5 to 9 members and all members are important for how the group works, most of the groups have positions like main dancers(Kai and Lay in exo), main rapers(Chanyeol in exo) and main vocalists(Baekhyun, D.O and Cgen in exo) but that doesnt mean the rest cant or are bad at it as they train (most of the time) for years before being able to be part of a group, exo where originaly 12 members but 3 left and one is in a hiatus(kinda) because of being chinese. All korean men have to go to the military before the age of 30 so thats why members may desapear and apear from time to time, Kai and Sehun from exo are currently in the millitary service. Jaehyun is from a group called NCT(my favorite Kpop group) they are under the same company as exo, in total they are 25 members(a lot) but they normally divide themselves into units(127, Dream, WayV, DJJ, U and Wish) he is one of 6 members that have official solo songs, every member has a totally diferent vibe on their solo, Yuta is rock/metal, Taeyong is the envodiment of NCT's experimental sound, Doyoung i'll descrive as Anime intro/outro but a bit more ballad oriented, Ten is also experimental but more dark and dance oriented, Mark a rock sound but more calm and relaxed and is one of the best rappers in kpop, and then Jaehyun is more R&B as you heard already. Jaehyun and Taeyong are in the military service right now. im not so good at recomending songs butill recomend Jaehyun's "Dandelion & Roses" and "Flamin' hot lemon" NCT 127's "Lemonade" and "Favorite(Vampire)"

EXO K means korean ...with six korean members and EXO M means mandarin chinese ...with four originally chinese members and two korean members ..EXO K did albums songs in korean meanwhile EXO M sang same songs in mandarin ..but 2014.2015 the peak of their career three chinese members left the group for their personal ,health issues ,company mistreatments ,overworked schedules ...leaving EXO 12 to 9 ... since then EXO is nine promotes as one group ... the only remaining chinese member is currently inactive in EXO since 2017 coz his busy schedules and his position in china's is huge and he represents ambassador for chinese youth in their country ruling political party ...BUT is still a part of EXO ..snd he is not declared his departure from EXO till today ..he always confirms that he is a member of EXO ....( the political conflicts of two countries it's prevents him to promote woth korean industry but governments loosened up little bit he did his solo concert recently in korea..) You might wondering if see some of their performance or mvs members line up changes ...coz of along with chinese member's absent and their mandatory military service ...EXO in a haitus as a full group 2019 - 2025 coz of military service ..six members are already done their 18 months service and currently exo youngest duo doing their service too...meanwhile EXO other members are focusing on their solo activities like acting,solo albums ,modeling ,endorsements etc..
