KoRn Indigo Ranch 07/18/96 Rare Footage

- Опубліковано 5 бер 2011
- Here is a KoRn at an Indigo Ranch Party back on 07/18/96! This is extremely rare footage of the band and band crew partying with some friends at Indigo Ranch. Indigo Ranch footage is hard to come by these days! Afterwards, they head into the studio where we see some great drumming from David Silveria! Some of this featured on their video "Who Then Now?". Again, this is unedited footage! This is one of my favorites! Enjoy KoRn fans!
Tracklist:
1. Chi (Drum Track)
2. Dookie Booty
3. Good God (Drum Track)
David is a fucking beast on the drums... fucking miss him being in KoRn.
kornfreak78 his style is best and simplistic .. basic solid grooves were best for the old skool KoRn sound
lars ulrich is simplistic this is some technical drumming like at 8:10
@@hate6687 David was pretty damn technical, definitely not simplistic
The good ol days right there miss it!
2022 here..bring back david
Ray has techinicality, polish, and discipline. He is a far more versitle drummer. David had something that couldnt be taught though. He played from the heart. He glued the music together in a way no one else will ever be able to. He is sloppy, groovy, and his tempo is all over the place. But thats what made Korn real. It made you feel Jonathans lyrics. The music breathed like a human and touched your emotions. Now its steril and polished. Its just become a mass produced product and not true art.
Yeah David once said he hated playing to a click sound tempo on pro tools, it would kill some vibe
Wow you said everything i think, clean as water, now i know i'm not the only one who see this lack of points into Korns new music.
They fell off after take a look in the Mirror. But the first 2 albums are by far the best.
I wouldn’t say his tempo is all over the place. I just think that he plays with more of a natural feel
Korn has never been the same without David Silveria a brilliant drummer
how can anyone not love david's drums.
Cuz they are posers
Life is peachy... Korn's golden era..
damn right! i look at it as a gothic version of the same atmosphere of the first album.
@@sludge.eater6 great description, I agree.
The best from them! David’s drums were primo
srsly
All that beautiful hihat work was mixed super low on the album, he beats the shit out of that thing and does it so well. I wonder how many hihats he's cracked in half.
The difference between Ray and David... Ray could never come up with original drumming like this. I forgot how explosive and also technical Davids beats were. So much awesome ghosting on the snare and those drum rolls definitely sound like they influenced Joey from Slipknot.
That would be some impressive playing as David would need a time machine to travel to the future to be inspired. I feel like David’s playing relates more directly to John Stanier from Helmet who was a huge influence on Korn.
@@brandonseger5812 you misunderstood that comment, he was saying David was an influence on Joey from Slipknot, not the other way around...
Couldn’t agree more. IMO was actually irreplaceable and so much more technically gifted and also influential then most people outside of Korn fan base realize or admit
@@cuteface4891 Darn, my reading comprehension sucks sometimes. Thank you for the kind correction
@@brandonseger5812 kinda late to the party but really? Helmet? I fucking love helmet and Korn but I've never heard they had any influence with korn
I miss David’s dynamics and his hi hat, kick, snare. Ray is great but David has his signature jazzy pop funk rock thing that made korn complete.
Setlist:
1. Chi (Drum Track) 6:51
2. Dookie Booty 11:09
3. Good God (Drum Track) 12:07
It aint just drum track,.drum is only what we can hear,.but all r in,..john is singing in the cabin,..the rest plays too
Dookie Booty went on their DVD I remember that shit
@@T.Maximus I remember it was David’s part!
David had that firey unapologetic passion for KoRns music that exploded in everyone's face when he sat behind the drums. Aside from the seedy vices, the inflated egos, the debauchery after landing global and commercial fame, the failed relationships within the band towards the end of the original line up, David had the band hot wired and loaded with determination to put out some of the most addicting and inspiring music of that era.
David Silveria is a BEAST on Drums !!
The difference between Ray and David, One’s TextBook/School taught, can play any style, sit behind the kit with any band, Lives with a metronome, and Obviously a Great Drummer! David?….All from the Heart/Soul, something You can’t teach/learn. That groove, snare/cymbal work is completely unreal! To Me, it’s the same with Dave Lombardo, there’s been many sick ass drummers for Suicidal Tendencies, when he stepped in there, brought all them songs a new feel with his Groove, own style. Even hearing Joey Jordinson(🙏) w/KoRN, still didn’t have that David Swing/Groove. NOBODY can bring what David did to KoRN. Even him being “sloppy” off time some times, it’s what made korn/KoRN! WTF is it that is keeping him from re-joining? I’ve heard him say in the last couple years, He’s with it! A few of My friends moved down to HB and are good friends with him, they told Me he wants to return! I don’t know wtf happened between them, but it’s def deeper then him just not wanting to play anymore, back when he left. It’s gotta be about money or a Female I’m thinking, has to be something personal with Jonathan or maybe Munky? Just wish they could overcome the BS and do what needs to be done, ALL OxGx members, Bring David Back, the Missing Link, it’s been Far to long!✊
Lots of things I guess! He talked shit about Korn when he left (about the music direction, the use of big production on Korn records and the fact that producers and some band members were geting all the creativity control). Also he did try to suied them about royalties.
Head did talk shit when he left too. Apparently, David case was worse.
David was amazing! His unique way of playing drums, made Korn what they are. They were really the "fabulous five" ! But that said, I don't think that David got the chops anymore. He probably couldn't play at the level that Korn status and production demands nowadays.
OMG i cant believe how good this band was in theyre begginings, definitely the drummer was something else, all these rythms and complexity, but yet groovy. Sad they stopped making music like that.
I agree 100%
Also sad that people forgot or ignore how great they were, or pretend (or even dumber-actually believe) that Korn sucks, and always has... get real
David has been my favorite drummer since the first album! Dude is the best ever!
He was great. Had a lot of power and groove. His timings off a bit in places and I can see he would be a nightmare to produce but he vibe is there. He just got told to simplify by the big shot producers for it all to stay more in time I guess which had to be done as they became huge. Fuck knows what happened after that but he was unique that's for sure. When I saw him live he was great also that was 20 years back wow
KoRn will always be the most influential and most awesome band on the planet.
Life is Peachy is awesome album, still to those days🤘🤘🤘
Ray is a great drummer and all, but David is the right guy for KoЯn.
David was nasty. Korn, bring him back and make a fuckin kick ass album.
Sincerely,
All your fans
🔥
So fucking insane. Full of passion and energy! David kicks ass :)
David... god damned! Feels like you are the mike tyson of drumming. You smashed those drums like it was powershots.
I'm seriously addicted to this video. I could listen to this awesome drumming all fucking day...
Man who the hell leaves an innovative, successful band to be a model/restaurateur or whatever. David was the perfect fit drum-wise for Korn, he had the best chops and grooves.
I guess he still thinks he has the best chops and grooves, except now they’re pork chops and handsome face grooves 😂
The first 4 albums yes, there was a new producer that David got sick of because he changed the band and he legt
Him leaving for those reasons is just the story we got. who knows what really happened
David was an awesome drummer!!!!!!
Wow I have new found respect for David. I always had respect but now it's just that much more powerful. Such an amazing guy/musician.
Just finished watching this vid! BRING DAVID BACK PLEASEEE! Life is short and i love to see you guys! Experience that sound that changed my life!
David absolutely killing it on those drums
Honestly Life is Peachy is the most enjoyable Korn album. Maybe their best.
Who here watched WHO THEN NOW on VHS over and over and over back in the day?
Yep, can't find it on UA-cam anymore...?
I havent looked for it on here. I have it on vhs but no way to make a copy for ya
❤❤❤
I sure did 🤘🏼
Over, and over, and over, and over again. Still have it.
David always was the secret weapon of Korn, great years, he´s missied
David Silveria is anothe level!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Crazy how much he drove those first few CDs... He really was great. Edit: easy to see how he got injured, he was trying to kill those cymbols lol.
utterly AMAZING footage of David! what a great drummer!
damn, what an amazing drummer. Korn is def not the same without him
Can someone tell me why David is the most praised in the band for making their sound when Fieldy literally has loose strings on his bass to where you can hear that thick slapping sound that I know and love Korn for
I've also never heard another band that does slapping like Korn does
David was made for Korn. Ray is a great "fill-in" drummer. He played for David Lee Roth for 8 years FILLING IN for what Van Halen's past drummer; Alex who is Eddy's brother. He is a great drummer, and can fill-in for any brand, BUT David gave Korn that unique special sound that can only be created with all original 5 members.
Connor Brown Alex was not an original member of Van Halen nor Korn or any other band for that matter.
Korn hasn't sounded innovative since he left. It's just too guitar focused. Even the guitars are borimg now. It's just a wall of sound. No funk grooves and crazy stuff. It's just boring uninspiring stuff. Dunno why people think Ray is a great addition. He's got skills but he doesn't add anything special .
@@Loki-sk7bi the path of totality? Untitled?
I totally agree with that. David's a sick drummer. Just listen to Porno Creep.
@7:00 forgot how good David Silveria was! insane drumming

@@vnfs8304 I mean he said he doesn't play with a click track
@@thenever2957 Ross Robinson = No Metronome.
i don't care how good is the new drummer, there is nobody who will ever give Korn the epic groove David was able to give. Korn was that groove and now is just another band with same sound as other bands.
And this is why KoRn is nothing without David. His FEEL just oozes...
KoЯn with David...the way it should be.
My uncle David is bad ass best drummer Ray can't even compre to this level of greatness
wtf!david just hit that kit so hard.i'm a huge death metal fan but this guy style was just damn good..
It just hit me now how much of an influence David has had on my drumming. I grew up with these guys and now it’s clear as day when I look back on it. Snare heavy and hard hitting 🍻
there are some drummers that cant be imitated, David is one . As for Ray L. he is badass on his on spectrum so even if all the fills, and tabs were spot on. its about groove. Drummers know what i mean.
David lets the groove room to breathe while Ray uses a lot of filler. David still maintains a nice trap beat on the hi-hat but doesn't cloud up the feel of the song.
David killed it!!
Dave was incredible, him and Joey Jordison are among my favorite drummers (including John Stainer - Helmet), really defined that sound and without them it's just not the same.
First two KoRn albums were fucking gold, the next few were good and later ones I just didn't listen to a whole lot.
We can also thank Ross Robinson for those amazing fist two albums, KoRn and Slipknot.
Rip Joey :(
I love the faces hes making while drumming
It's pure passion. :)
this video proves what korn fans have know all along. david needs to come back!1
Hell Yeah !! Lol. David OMG! You .pick up da sticks like no other fucking amazing.... Mad Respect .
Love the Chemistry you guys bring, brought . Present tense still bringing lol We Need David on the percussion again . Him n Fieldy Back Bone of the Band. Then Head and Munky start shadow boxing, finishing each others sentences.. When there speaking in Riff.. Then Johnathan starts to Vent ... Then that's a wrap ... Motherfuckers got Mad skills I Love the Shit Out of you .
Un fkb believable. That’s the album take. What an amazing tracking session. They simply don’t do it this way anymore
Damn David hit SO hard...
Once again... thanks so much for sharing! This is by FAR the rarest old-school Korn footage! keep 'em coming man!
David’s style is pissed off funk. Literally my biggest influence ever!
Back when drummers nailed it on one take. Nothing worse than a drummer who knows how to use pro tools.
David is the funkiest metal drummer ever
That looks like one sick ass party. Wish I could have been there. The result of them being at Indigo Ranch was one kick ass record! The first four Korn albums were their best bodies of work.
Dave is why I play drums to this day. Just the funky heavy stuff with that unmistakable pitch on the snare, mixed with great hat and splashes. Wish Dave was still with Korn.
I really love david as a drummer and person. I miss him so much in korn.
I really wish he could get back in the band.
Love you david and miss you 4ever.
Romy Taylor Hate to agree, but you're right. Something's way off with him. Just look at any new music he puts out. It's like he's a shell of his former self.
David Silveria..... One of the best..... Drums Dude.....
This video proves that we're all just people. And if we work hard enough and sacrifice enough enough we (as musicians) can achieve the fruits of success. We're all just people; Just flesh and bone. KoRn stuck to their guns and made it. So can you.
Miss that Korn groove from David ⚡⚡⚡🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
those damn grooves shoul be illegal for how fucking amazing they are
I wish David never would of left he was so original
Sick ass ghost notes..insane😲😲👌
David has a feel that’s so alluring he played heavy without rushing. An impossible feel like charlie watts just chilling
Come back David. We need you. Ray is good and all, but David... He is just the perfect drummer for KoRn. No better option.
I really miss David in Korn. Ray is a great drummer and all but I just wish they would patch things up with David and let him come back.
The thing is that he decided to quit. ANd considering he literally sells his Korn memorabilia shows that he has no desire to return whatsover.
yeah man I wish the same thing to.
Silveria is a fucking legend! It would be cool to see him back \m/
12.56 - David's playing one complex beat with so much soul and he's still got time to correct the postion of his headphones.
yo..just want to thank you for uploading such amazing footage..i'm a korn fan like forever..i still love to watch the "deuce" dvd..and to see stuff from that time wich is not on that dvd is awesome..big respect from germany..
I agree - David was a MONSTER on the drums - still from all his postings on various social media outlets one can get the impression that he might not be the easiest person to be around on a 24/7 level (like in a band situation) - Ray on the other hand seems to be an all around nice guy on top of his abilities on the drums. So one can argue wether KoRn would still be around had they not had all the member changes. Just sayin´- no offense to David, never personally met the man.
Joe Garcia I don't think thats true, in all the old Korn interviews, David is the nicest of all 5.
Almost forgot how good David was🥁
damn it. this is the memory of all my childhood. so many years, and it's still best
And David Silveria. Best drummer of 90s
this is the real korn right here!
Just a drummer with enough profesionalism like Ray Luzier could replace David Silveria, Thumbs up for David!
I had not idea how crazy the drums actually were for Chi...you don't hear half of that in the final mix.
The best line up ever.....
Man I feel like I'm with them in that canyon so awesome sweet footage
Just to think this happened 21 years ago this month is mind blowing... Korn needs this type of drumming again, Ray is a great drummer but does not fit Korn's style at all.
I was a hardcore drummer back in these years and I made the mistake when I was youmg of playing like this its not sustainable for many years, I remember doing drum tracks where my hands just gave out and had nothing left just like jello!! I love davids drumming picked upvalot of cool chops from him , bit luckily I had an amazing Drum coach that was my studio engineer, would stop mid track and say yo Stevie your gunna break my shit and your clipping all my meters your way far in the red. You know we have volume control right? From then on I realized you can play with aggression then just turn up the levels , you can literally see David wrecking his wrists on these trackd
Yeah I think a big reason why they split was he was losing his touch because he was fucking himself up. Idk where I saw it but I saw a vid of them having to cancel a show half way because David literally just couldn’t play anymore.
I'm pretty sure back then they were high as fuck, pretty evident if you pay attention to the intro of the video, he was probably in the fourth dimension here, I could be wrong, but thats my guess
@@the79thcookie probably tweeking
@@hotdoglover1573 literally not the reason what so ever. You think they gonna kick him out because he had passion? There's an interview where David said that the band stopped writing songs as a band and the producers told David to simplify his drumming. So he gradually lost passion and i can't blame him. They basically lost the control and let the "big guys" do writing and controlled their music
david was a beast.
looks so peaceful there, I would've loved to party with em during that era
Music is about style, uniqueness, etc, and especially CREATIVITY. Everybody who says ray is a better drummer is clueless. Respect to ray, but david is whole another level.
David was one of my main inspirations in the 90s for playing drums at all.
E muito da hora!!!!!!!
Not bagging on Ray. But just like when Head was gone, David just had that "Korn groove" that cant be replaced.
That "korn groove" is only present on their first 3 albums. David did help define their old-school sound, but as the band evolved his drumming became more and more generic.
I mean I wish they would go back to their old sound and everything but honestly they won't, and Ray *is* an all-around better, more versatile drummer, better suited to korn's modern sound
I saw Korn in the fall of 1996 must've been right after this footage was recorded and after Life Is Peachy was released. This is great footage, must've been a great evening.
damn this is rare footage super cool thanks for posting this
David is born for Korn. Ray fits in glam metal but not for Korn. I don’t listen to them now when David’s gone. He’s the real backbone of Korn
True. I also moved on when David left
For real , gotta miss David
Man, this takes me back to oldschool street/house parties from the mid 90s lol. Classic... fuckin' renegades, all of us!
Saw these dudes open for Ozzy. Never heard of them before. Instantly liked them. Munky hit me in the eye with a pick. Ozzy came out piss drunk, no Zakk, and wearing a ripped shirt and sweatpants.
Korn schooled him that night.
Today’s July 18th, 2021, 26 years ago, can’t believe 26 years has passed since they recorded Life Is Peachy!!! Where does the time go?

??? Their last album was better than the last couple WITH david so...
Are you the girl from falling away from me?
Suniki thats debatable. Better the SYOTOS and probably TALITM but besides that nah
Everything after Issues sucks.
elgrooster not really
i think ray and David are both good drumers OBvs i would like to see david back in korn since hes the orginal member but there are obvs issues beyond just "music" between the two parties has long has David and korn are happy thats good enough 4 me cant wait 2 hear this Infinkia thing david is doing now
I feel like in these days the drums were the back bone of everything in korn, they lead the way confidently... These days the drums just fit to whatever the guitar riff is, nothing special.
I think Ray's drumming also has had a negative affect on Fieldy's bass playing. Imo.....
daniel dell, They definitely don't have the signature KoRn Groove anymore
The korn groove is long gone when david left every thing fieldy played was based off the backbone of davids grooves. It worked so well and made them what they were, now they are just a pop band, lol!!!
What if I said there was a noticeable difference when Head left first
Honestly in an interview I watched not too long ago, either Fieldy or Head were saying that they would usually let David play a beat or come up with a groove first and then they would follow through with guitar riffs and some fat ass slap bass
David is the man!!!!!!!!! Whats the instrument david uses that looks electronic and makes the deep bass at 13:12??
When every parts matter, when you have soul.
Old school Korn hell yeah 🤘🤘🤘🤘 can we go back Plz 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
How come he never played Good God like this live?

It would be really nice to see David play drums again for KORN now that Head is back they just don't sound the same without his drumming Ray might play like David but that dosen't mean he's a better drummer.
