In countries like USA,ENG,Canada etc people who have darker skin can be called african american, african british, african canadian are the right words to refer them as. For those who have lighter skin color, american or just British/Canadian can be the word to refer them. The background of africans are very sensitive in european countries. Their ancestors grew up with slavery bc of their color of their skin which was something they couldn’t control. So the words you use can be very triggering and offensive to them. Just a suggestion: When you go to other countries thats not yours, you need to know and follow their culture. There is freedom of speech in all these countries but you still need to watch what you say and how you say it!
