Children's Ministry Training: 5 Essential Principles to Attain Our Purpose

This Children's Ministry Training Video is the second in a series of training videos designed for personal use and encouragement as a parent, for Sunday school teacher and ministry servant. This can also be used in group settings for your children's ministry team training. Use the outline below for reference or to give to your team to help them follow along and take notes.

Outline:
5 Essential Principles to help us achieve our purpose
Purpose (review): Make Disciples of Christ and to Build up the Body of Christ.
1) Love
-If you don't have love, it's all worthless
-1 Corinthians 13:1-3, 8
-John 13:34-35
-Filled with the Holy Spirit so that you have God's Love. We can't Love without Him!
2) Be Prepared
-Plan before you get there
*I miss spoke... Spend a few MINUTES each day (not a few days) in the scriptures reading and praying about the direction God wants you to take the class.* :)
-Inductive Bible Study
-What does it say?
-What does it mean?
-What does it mean to me?
-Pick activities and games that will reinforce God's Word.
-Teach God's Word and Reinforce God's Word.
-Romans 10:17
-2 Timothy 2:15
3) Make Application
-The Bible is applicable and relevant to kids
-1 Peter 3:15
-Proverbs 2:1-5, 9-11, 20
-Make application from the Word at an age appropriate level
-The Bible is true history that is relevant to kids at every level
-The Word is Living and Active
-Hebrews 4:12
BONUS: Have your class bring their Bibles with them to class so you can open it and read it together. Maybe think of a reward system (like a sticker or piece of candy for kids) to help them remember to bring their Bibles.
4) Taking it Home: Parent Support
-Children's Ministry is truly the job of parents. We are here as a support to them.
-Deuteronomy 6:4-9
-Think and Pray about ways to support parents.
-Coloring sheet with the lesson or memory verse
-Parent take home questions
-Ephesians 2:19-22
5) Pray! -John 15:7
-Pray for the Lords Work in the Life of Kids
-Pray for Kids by name that they would have soft hearts, That they would be saved, and that they would grow and be used by God. -Psalm 119:18
-Pray for yourself and the ministry. -Ephesians 6:18
-Pray that you would have LOVE
-Pray that you would be able to prepare well to teach God's Word
-Pray that you would be able to make age appropriate application
-Pray for Parents to be fulfilling their role and that they would have the support they need.
Closing: God is Faithful
-God will do the work
-Philippians 2:13
-None of this rests on your shoulders
-Rest in the Lord
