    The high level ideas being explored here, non-Jedi/Sith Force users and the potential to create life with the Force, both come direct from George, and in my experience Star Wars fans have always loved the stories that expand on this sort of stuff (Mortis, Nightsisters, Yoda's last Clone Wars arc, the World Between Worlds, etc.). The fact that so many people online are hating on it for this particular show is very telling.

      @@seangargan My theory is that Sol is a Sith Lord in disguise, and the master mind behind all of this. He made a pact with the witch mothers to create powerful dark force user twins. He convinced Indara to check out kids that were already too old and had obvious attachments. He turned the Jedi and the witches against one another, and then eradicated the witches blaming Mae for it. He took Osha as his Padawan. He then became Mae’s Master telling her the Jedi killed her family, so she would seek revenge. Similar to how Palp lured and deceived Anakin for years. How did Sol know that Mae started the fire unless he was already there before the fire? Sol told his Padawan Jecki that he found Osha when he was “stationed” on Brendack. That’s a lie. It was an uninhabited planet outside of the Republic jurisdiction. How did they even know the kids were there? Why were the Jedi only interested in Osha, and not in Mae who appeared more powerful? Sol told Osha he tried to save Mae. Another lie, he arrived after she had already fallen.

    Appreciate your logic, respect and patience here, it's refreshing tbh - so many people willing to jump the gun, trash talk anything that doesn't jive with what THEY believe should happen, and all before seeing this season out to its conclusion. Why watch if you're not willing to give it a decent chance? Anyway, I'm just glad I'm subscribed to someone who's willing to critique as well as enjoy things. Great reaction, as always!

    I think this was just what OSHA saw. Mae might have set a fire, but those witches were all dead and none of them were burnt. Those Jedis did something and used Mae's fire as an excuse to Osha. I also don't think the fire she set by the door would have caused explosions on the other side of the bridge like that, so I think there is way more to the story

    I found this episode 3 very sensitive, in finesse, and precise... Deeply balanced ; and the message is powerful, I think.
    It seeks to explore philosophically beyond the themes of good and/or evil... It provides interesting insights and encourages reflection.
    In the end, between the two "paths/philosophies", your heart swings... And that's clearly what the writers wanted to achieve with this scenario. A little gem of an episode, imbued with an impactful message that puts each of your eventual beliefs or preferences in complete perspective...

    Thanks for not buying into the hate hype train & going for cheap clickbaity BS faux outrage. I 100% agree there’s nothing lore breaking & I think it’s laughable how ppl are trying to act like this witch coven being centered around women is something wild and woke as if the nightsisters never existed.
    Definitely some valid criticisms about clunky dialog & acting. Although I think the main mother did a great job. Overall, I enjoyed the episode a lot & can’t wait to find out more of the story from diff POVs.

    • @nightingale8178
      @nightingale8178 8 місяців тому +3

      There are major differences between this coven and nightsisters and their portrayal. And there is lore break. There is no way that the Jedi order would decided to train children that old. The entire point of Anakin's character was that he was too old to be trained. The only reason he was is because Obi-wan said he will leave the order if he has to to train him and he was the literal chosen one. That's one thing.
      2nd is the coven. Yes Jedi take the babies. But its never against the will of parents. Its not a literal kidnapping though it can be questionable. Ignoring the fact that the Jedi order would never even consider them as candidates for Jedi, they can just refuse to give children away. Its not a thing that they have different view of that. No. If they do than they say it in their face and the Jedi leave. Its just bad writing here.
      The series is overhated for sure but its far from being good, although there are some fun things here and there

      @@jaychung6622 they were not more lenient. It is a strong custom since the times of Old Republic. I am not talking about legends here but current canon.
      100 years in and off itself is very short for a tradition to change, espacialy in times were no new technologial or spiritual renescanse happened. As a proof of that you can point out the fact that Jedi in times prequel trilogy still firmly belived that they are neutral and independent organisantion even though for years they were strong allies of the republic and acted with them or on their command. Entirity of Clone Wars serves as a proof.
      In Jedi Survivor, the entire backstory of the high republic jedi (forgot the name) is that he wanted to indroduce something new/revolutionary into the order and got refused with no explanation. Mostly because it was a risk that they did not wanted to consider. Exactly the same like training older children.
      Jedi Order is very adamant about not wanting to take unescesary risks or something out of the ordinary. Qui-Gon highlights this. Anakin's training. The Order's concern about joining Clone Wars (Republic forced them).

      @jaychung6622 8 місяців тому +1

      @@nightingale8178 my point is that using something from the future to disprove something that happened in the past isn’t really logical. It’s literally backwards. You should be using high republic norms to prove why the Jedi wouldn’t want to train anakin. Which is what I’m saying here. Maybe the Jedi’s experience with osha informed their reluctance to train anakin. Or maybe this is an example of them breaking/bending the rules for osha and how it went wrong, thus, they’re even more convinced older kids shouldn’t be trained by the time of the prequels.
      In any event, setting this issue aside, it’s hardly a lore breaking event of catastrophic proportions and the “end of Star Wars” like all these doom and gloomers are raving about.

    I think the Jedi showing up at the same time Mae starts the fire leads the coven to believe that the Jedi started the fire to steal the girls. Sol (and maybe Indara) goes and looks for the girls, but Kelnacca and Torbin are back with the coven. We know that Torbin and Kelnacca battle each other, I'm assuming they're possessed by the witches during this. I think that battle either kills a bunch of the witches or ruptures that "superreactor/energy thing", or a combination of both. Either way I think Torbin and Kelnacca come back to, and all they see is Mae and a bunch of dead witches, and they just assume they slaughtered everyone. The guilt and isolation eventually catches up to them both.

    Palpy: Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life.
    Mother Koril: "And what happens when the Jedi discover how you created them?"

    Sol saying, “We don’t take children” also got a big laugh out of me.
    Even with Mae being understandably upset about Osha leaving, her line, “I’m gonna kill you” was super out of character. And later on when Osha finds her, Mae seems like she’s been looking for Osha & is surprised by the fire. I can only think that the Mae that set the fire might have been a Force illusion, or something similar? The whole coven didn’t just collapse & die from the fire. And the Jedi made zero efforts to save anyone except the girls.
    Idk if everything was the Jedi, but whatever they did was effed up enough for Master Torbin to swallow poison.

    i am 100% convinced that something else happened in the time after Mae initially lit the book on fire, and after Osha turned to look out the window for help, because when Osha turns back around, THE ENTIRE DOOR is engulfed in flames. i think something else was at play that night other than just the coven and the girls, and the jedi. i'm thinking maybe whoever Mae's masked master is was also there that night and had a hand in the whole thing. that could be way off, but i just don't see Mae lighting that little book on fire leading to the entire place to ignite and collapse and kill all those witches all at once (with no real visible wounds in the small screentime they had, that i noticed), and i also don't believe for a second the jedi intentionally burned the place to the ground just to get the girls. there's something more going on that they're still not showing us. this is a pretty fun mystery all in all, imho. no clue why people were hyping this episode up as the final nail in the coffin that would "ruin star wars forever" lmfao

    This view of The Force is, I think, influenced by a Star Trek Next Generation episode, "Tapestry", even if not intentionally. Spoiler alert (if you haven't seen that episode, I highly recommend it): Captain Picard is on death's door, and Q gives him a chance to alter his own past. But by doing so..... he unravels the tapestry of his life's events. That is what I believe the one Mother is trying to tell the twins. Pull on one string, and it changes everything in your life's path.
    Personally, given the chance, I don't think I would change anything I've done. Every decision I have made, right or wrong, has led me to where I am now, and I'm in a pretty good place. I think the Jedi and those witches got into some kind of altercations which lead to everything going to shit, and they used Mae as a cover up. Looking at Turbon in the background at the end, he's got a fresh scar when he didn't before, so something must have happened.

Why not return to the planet to see if anyone survived? It depicts the Jedi as manipulative and oppressive when they show up armed and pressure families to give up their kids. Why did they delete the fact that Osha had a sister in her file? Were the Jedi trying to cover up their killings and blamed Mae for it? Why did Mae say to Osha “what did you do?” as though she didn’t know what happened?

The Acolyte has just gotten a little to fan fictiony feel for me to keep going. I wish the mystery was a bit more interesting too.

    So Mae tried to kill Osha but how would she destroy the whole place? Plus the injuries on the Jedi.
    Considering the revelation about how Mother Anisheya used the Force to make Mother Koril pregnant with the twins i suspect some Sith fuckery happened in the place to pit the Jedi against the Witches coven. Hence why Torbin felt so guilty that he killed himself and Kelnacca became a hermit.
    Guess we will have another flashback. Perhaps showing things from Sol's point of view or maybe even from the Sith's.

    I wont use the word... but you cant just handwave criticism based on an obvious agenda proudly vocalized by many tiers of leadership in the disney star wars era. They are obviously intentionally antagonizing the existing fan base, dismissing those criticisms outright just makes you a pawn in their gambit.
    That being said... i feel like you're holding back criticism on this one. I saw how many times you had a WTF face. I've seen you be far more harsh about CW content...
    I don't generally watch you react to things i don't enjoy... I made an exception this time because i saw clips of this vid in another video.
    This show is poorly written and I've given it my usual three episodes... its a shame the third was the worst by far.
    I was excited when Kotor 2 was being touted as an inspiration for the philosophy of this series... but the execution is terrible so far, and the only thing I can see being pulled from either Kotor is "peace is a lie".
    If star wars fans, which i don't really consider myself (last jedi is the best sw movie imo), think this story is THAT WORD... they should be thankful they dont have to stomach ideologically inconsistent garbage statments like "a male *presenting* time lord wouldn't understand"... yet anyway.

    • @stephenoliveau
      @stephenoliveau 7 місяців тому

      @Omn1Media I completely agree this show has potential, but they've lost me on the week to week watch. I hope this is an unreliable narrator situation, and somehow a stone fortress burning down and killing everyone makes sense, for example.
      I firmly believe that if a normal exists, it encompasses the entire spectrum regardless of category. However, the behavior of those in charge has been exclusionary and antagonistic going all the way back to those "force is female" shirts. It didn't say the "force is everyone"... the hypocrisy of calling yourself inclusive while attacking, belittling, and replacing those that don't fit in an exclusive category is what I associate with that word... and I never want to be that.
      If you want to ally yourself with that kind of behavior and dismiss criticisms en masse and not address them directly... yeah, that's just playing into their narrative that only bigots don't like this stuff because they think it's that word... and it does make you a pawn. I hate to see it because I actually respect your opinion...

    • @Omn1Media
      @Omn1Media  7 місяців тому +1

      @stephenoliveau You're twisting the meaning of the word like everyone that misuses it which is one of the many reasons I ignore it. Your statement "I firmly believe that if a normal exists, it encompasses the entire spectrum regardless of category" is woke. I've never once been upset by any of these things because why would I be. The Force is Female thing is silly to get upset about because 1, those shirts weren't even Star Wars related to begin with, and when KK wore them it was for a film festival for future female directors. Women impowering women in a space that is male dominated through something that they share or a connection that can be made is great. No one is kicking men out of the space or banning them or saying they aren't welcome. If that were the case, sure I'd be upset.
      And in what way does anything I've said support the "only bigots don't like this stuff" narrative. That's never been something I've said or even implied at all. The comments I'm ignoring are specifically racist, homophobic, and bigoted comments because they are NOT criticism. The writing's bad, the dialogue is stilted, the CGI was rough, these performances are stiff, it didn't work for me, the editing was jarring, the pacing was off or too slow, those are things I will listen to. Being mad that there aren't enough white men, in a space that is oversaturated with white men is ridiculous. Being mad that two women gently touched faces, fuck off. Being mad the lead is black or Asian or whatever, fuck off. Telling me that I'm a pawn because I won't listen to racists and homophobes... that's something. I don't need nor want your respect if you are defending these people while I'm defending criticism itself.

    All those people so butt-hurt that Anakin is no longer the ONLY immaculate conception in the SW galaxy make me smh. I remember when TPM came out that Anakin's virginal conception was widely derided as ridiculous and most fans couldn't believe George had done that. NOW, however, you have people losing their minds because if there were other Force-IVF births before Anakin, then he's no longer "special." So the discourse now is "How dare this gay woman take that away from him!" I've tried reasoning with them that it doesn't take away from his legacy as the Chosen One, the child of the prophecy. But it doesn't work. They are stuck on the idea that what made his birth special was that his was the _only_ one where there was no father. They argue that Anakin was Christ-like because the Powers That Be created him the same way God supposedly created Christ.
    What EVERYONE forgets is that the story of the virgin birth was not new at the time of Christ. Millennia before Christ was supposedly born to a virgin, the mythical Egyptian god Horus was born to the virgin Isis. Krishna, the Hindu god, was also born of a holy virgin. Both Jesus and Krishna are held to be god incarnate by two religions. Alexander, the Ptolemies, and the Caesars were said by some scholars to have been "virgin-born." Alexander the Great, " journeyed to the Oasis of Amon in order that he might be recognized as the god's son and thus become a legitimate and recognized king of Egypt. And on and on and on, and in each case these figures were central to their religions.
    Idk why people are so upset; the writer's room consists of an OT fan, a prequels fan, a sequels fan, and someone who has no past experience with SW so they can say, "Idk what you meant by that reference, so you might have to explain it for new fans." (i.e., those who started with the High Republic era figuring that would be an easier entry point.) I'm sure that if the prequel fan found it in some cheapens Anakin's character to no longer have him be the ONLY virgin birth in the galaxy, I'm SURE they would have said so.
    Everyone is acting like Headland isn't a fan and that she wants to piss everyone off instead of giving them more SW content to love, and part of me thinks the backlash is because she is a woman and gay, and part of me thinks the fanbase has just become so damn toxic.
    They bullied 9-year-old Jake Lloyd out of acting, blaming him for everything they didn't like about his performance instead of blaming the fact that he was, I'm sorry to say it, stuck with a bad director. I love George Lucas, he creates great stories and settings, but EVERYONE has talked extensively about the fact he isn't a good director, and he KNOWS that, which is why he _didn't_ want to direct the prequels (but he couldn't get Spielberg and no one else wanted to take it on).
    They bullied poor Ahmad Best for following the little bit of direction he was given, and turned his dream of acting in Star Wars into a nightmare that made him consider suicide.
    Kelly Marie Tran endured such intense racist and sexist trolling that she "closed up shop" and got off of ALL social media and stayed away from acting.
    I swear, the next thing that gets released, LFL should keep all the BTS details under wraps; no one gets to know who the director/showrunner/writers are, who is producing it, not even who is starring in it. No media blitz beforehand, don't say a damn word about who is working on it until after the first episode has dropped. Suffocate everyone's pre-conceived notions beforehand so they can't do anything but just watch and judge it on its face instead of starting out with the idea there is a "woke agenda" behind it and then purposely looking for examples to back up their theories.

    😮 I have questions. I watch a lot of reactions to the show so it gets my mind going so I will ask you Omni this question. if we are to assume that the twins have equal control over the force, is the imbalance between the two because osha does not want to use it and if that’s the case, why haven’t the mothers noticed this until now instead of while they were growing up 😊

    • @Secretsongs20
      @Secretsongs20 8 місяців тому

      I think the twins were created as representing the light and the dark forces. Osha is reluctant to use dark forces among witches, but she is attracted to life and willing to leave her family behind to be a Jedi. Like Obiwan, something in her conscience is blocking her from using the Force. Maybe she regrets breaking her promise to her sister. She still has nightmares. We saw that with Sabine and Din Djarin too. You can’t use the force when your mind is too obstructed by fear, guilt, anger, or attachments. The light side of the Force I mean.

He very quickly dismissed that The Thread is just this Coven's "certain point of view," and instead decided that he and his groupies should be aggrieved at the abomination of The Thread "replacing" The Force and George's concept of it. The explanation of "The Thread" theory was over in seconds, and the entire Coven was wiped out by the end of the episode. It's not a "replacement."

      Star Wars is based in a massive universe and it's ridiculous to think that the "force" would be called exactly the same everywhere. We are one planet and we have different names for same beliefs. Imagine a galaxy.

The writers comments in defence of it have just further alienated a large portion of the fanbase. Seemingly I'm a bigoted misogynist if I don't like it according to the writer.
