    No problem. Since this quilt along is for beginners I am taking it one step at a time. Next time we'll be planning, measuring, calculating, cutting and sewing on the sashing strips. Thanks for following along.

    Just a suggestion....next time starch your blocks really well before you do any trimming. This is a tip I learned from a June Tailor video and it makes trimming them SO much easier and much more accurate.

    I had a block that I took the whole thing apart, squared up the squares/hst, then resewed it, and it worked! When I'd looked at it, I was ashamed at how crappy it looked and knew I could do much better! Looked great when I finally got done with it.

    How does one square up a quilt block in which cutting edges to square it would cut away important parts of the block. I'm making Granny squares and they are not consistent sizes. But if I cut them to all be the same it will cut parts of the squares within the blocks. Is it more important to keep the design intact or to have them be consistent in size when joined into rows?

    Hi
    I do not live in the USA and we do not have rotary mats and cutters available here. Can you suggest a good long lasting brand (size 24 x 36) so that I can order for shipping. I was looking at Fiskars brand.

      Not sure if anyone answered you, but you can use a square that his larger and put glo tape at 9" or purchase a 9" square ruler.

    Couldn't you take apart your pinwheel block and trim the interior seams to make it smaller?

  • @TheCraftyGemini
    @TheCraftyGemini 12 років тому

    I could... but that is too much work for me. I rather re-do it and make sure it comes out perfectly and just use that one in another project-- like a pillow cover or something. That's just me. But there are a few things you could do to save it, say, you were using a specific fabric collection and didn't have any more, etc.

    I found this to be confusing to follow mainly because it did not have actual instructions to make sure I was centering the block so I would be cutting each side correctly.
