- Violinist, conductor and early music specialist Andrew Manze joined students of the USC Thornton Strings program for a masterclass in February of this year. An authority in historical performance practices, Manze has held conducting posts with the Academy of Ancient Music, the English Concert, the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and, currently, the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in Hannover.
Four students of USC Thornton Strings faculty member Midori Goto took part in the masterclass - Alex Granger, Francisco Fullana, YuEun Kim (baroque violin) and Vince Meklis. The event was sponsored by the Los Angeles Philanthropic Committee for the Arts (LAPCA) and videotaped in conjunction with the New World Symphony’s MUSAIC multimedia initiative.

very insightful, awesome
Wow playing on detuned violin - never thought about that! Always stopped and retuned... 😅
Simply beautiful
This is my fav version so far, it's beautiful, I can hear the intent in every phrase.
What a nice instrument 🎸
Fantastic Andrew. It’s a pleasure to hear your lessons. Always give us something to learn.
Beautifully paced playing. Very convincing and stylish.
What a fantastic discussion! Manze is a wealth of knowledge.
