I had an 82 flhs the best bike I ever owned. Some young punk pulled in front of me and totaled the bike that was in 1996. Sure miss that bike. Broke my back and both ankels. Still riding HDs
I have always loved this model. Its a beauty.
My dad has one of the red ones, he bought it new in 85 in Amarillo Texas at trips Harley Davidson. It’s been customized a bit but he still has all the original parts.
My late brother owned an 83 Shovel in the early 90s, a lovely machine. Yours is beautiful.
Just FYI: There were actually 500 of this model of bike produced 250 black and 250 red.
I have a friend in New Zealand who brought an imported from the US by universal motor Cycles in the mid 90s an ex police bike 85 shovel exactly the same as this one belt drive 5 speed still had all the flashing lights back box etc. He pulled it to bits and it's still like that spent huge money on it paint new everything just never got around to putting in back together and wont sell it lol.
Gotta love an 84 shovel with those 1949 front end vibes in 2023! Timeless
dream bike with an iconic sound
That entrance warranted playing George Thorogood’s “Bad to the Bone”, or even the intro to “I Drink Alone” in the background!
I see unrestored unmodified stock shovels and pans for sale from time to time around fb marketplace in Wisconsin…more often than you would think. I think something about Wisconsin culture and HD and respecting/preserving the factory build. They’re still out there, and older owners are aging.
I had an ‘83.Loved the motorcycle.
Just FYI: 1985 Shovelhead production was limited to fulfilling government contracts and were not made available for retail sale.
so how does someone in the comments say he has an 1985? he was a government official?
@@erickamoore8748 Government property is frequently put out for public auction. After 38 years I doubt that any of those Shovelheads are still in govt service.
303 1985 FLHP Shovelheads were produced to fulfill the orders of New Mexico State Police and The Royal Canadian Mounted Police. As they both refused the new EVO engine and had ordered the Shovelheads.
Rif Leman is mistaken.I have a civilian customer who bought his 1985 flhp brand new from Elyria Harley Davidson in Ohio.
Nice looking bike guys..Very Iconic bike for sure.
Looks amazing bike. You got to be happy with this. One thing though, there is some reference, to a St Louis Panhandling shovel footpeg clamp, being used on Harley's from around this period. Whether this component was a buckshee item, that was modified as a footrest or peg, I don't know. It could have something to do with the name, Shovelhead. Nice work.
Nice... that ham can got better airflow through the carb than most aftermarket engine reveal filters. So no velocity stack with a screen bug catcher, S&S Super, or fender chop with lowering nonsense. And she even sounds perfect so no fishtails, or 2 into 1 hookers, or shotgun straight pipes ... keep this one stock man.
Looks and sounds great. Too bad I already bought a 2003 harley-Davidson vrod from you which I have been enjoying very much! Thanks guys!
As sweet as this bike is, the extra power, comfort, reliability on the 03 is pry worth it. Especially if it your only bike. Ride on!
Although, I've never known alot about Harley's, I know that type is rare from what you said. Lol...No doubt that's a gorgeous bike, with a very nice exhaust note.
What a f’n beauty!
@@tikkabrno common or should we call it uncommon sense is irrelevant in the world we live in!…f’n what a mess. You do only live once so why not get it?!?! Ride the wheels off the thing!
Wow. Looks and sounds great 👍 You guys are so lucky you don’t have to wear helmets. Wish it was the same here in Canada 😑 It should be MY choice whether I do or don’t.
Looks, sounds, shakes and clunks into 1st gear like a Harley Davidson.
What a beaty! (the bike of course)
Daauum!, what is not to love about that one. Surprised you are not keeping that for yourself, Kap
Dime piece for sure. Thanks
Nice bike but it looks too small for you Kappy :)
So round about how much in 2003 for that bike?
I just bought an all original 1984 FLHS. Made June 1984. Only 5500 original miles. I am the 2nd owner. It's been in a barn since 1985. Original seat, etc. After watching this video, I'm wondering if I have something special.
Nothing sounds like it
5 Gal
Where is your HELMET?
No kicker on this bike, that's a deal breaker, as my 3 Shovel's are all kick & electric...
84 is not the last year of the shovelhead 1985 was i own one 1985 flh all original all manuals and paperwork
I had an 83 FLHS shovel. Best bike I've ever ridden. Wish I still had her.
