This used to be my mom's favorite show...I was a baby when she used to turn it on every day and watch it...thanks so much for uploading a ton of great memories...tv before all the crap of sex, drugs and anything goes...
i am only 42 and even when i was a kid had a love for old tv shows. i felt like i was missing out on something very special. george and gracie are hands down my favorites as well as good old jack benny......ANYONE HAVE A TIME MACHINE I CAN BORROW????
There was much tragedy in the space of a few years. First Joan dies rather young of a heart attack at age 53, and then a few years later her mother, daughter (Beverly Wills, age 30), and two grandchildren were all killed in a house fire. By the way, the actress who played Joan's younger sister in the show was actually her daughter, Beverly Wills.
heavenofinvention Thanks for your comment. Yes. Much tragedy. Luckily we have the laughter left by this funny lady. Please keep watching. Best, The JDC.
JoanDavisChannel You're welcome. And thank you for posting the episodes, and for the tidbit about Henny Backus. Had no idea. I guess I Married Joan was a family show in more ways than one.
She had the physical comedy ability like Lucy and great facial expressions like Vivian. Yes I think she could be compared with Carol but I hate to compare them at all.
I can appreciate your point, and I get the feeling Brad was teasing her by exaggerating. But just for the record, it was 9 pounds in nine years. She was weighing in at 123 lbs. and saying that she weighed 114 lbs. when she was married. Ah! I just realized why you said 7 . . . she did say she was 116 lbs. at that time fully dressed. So yes, the difference might be as little as 7 lbs. depending on how much she was wearing. I'm wondering whether the writers came up with the numbers they did by figuring that a gain of a pound a year would be reasonable (not considering clothing). Anyway, it's funny to notice that I'm writing this 9 years after your comment! Hope you're doing well! 🙂
This was my favorite show as a kid I absolutely loved I married Joan and when I brought it up to people in the Philadelphia area they didn't know what I was talking about I'm from New York so maybe that matters but I just thought that she was so funny and lovable. I have seen her in a couple of old movies too. She was extremely talented most people think of Jim Backus as mr. Magoo or from Gilligan's Island but I remembered him from I married Joan

I would rather watch old classic black & white any day over the garbage they call TV today.
I feel the same way. These shows are way before my time -- yet I still love them more than the shows of today.
It's beautiful to see the same story and the same faces. No variety in any way. Exclusion at its finest.
Me too
ABSOLUTELY❣❣❣
I Married Joan and I Love Lucy came along about the same time. Joan was just as dizzy n funny as Lucy.

heavenofinvention that is so terribly sad!
🔴This was just like the bit Lucy did with the Vita Vita vitamin commercial on her show.🔵
I wonder what she really weighed

simply wonderful
Brad must be in pretty lousy shape that he can't lift an extra seven pounds in nine years.

polishing the ham too funny
I swear as a person who struggles with their weight i could certainly welcome support such as this. It's very tough. I know the feeling.
Coffee cups were so small
Yeah, and hams were square!
combines ideas from two I Love Lucy episodes
Joan must been really hungry if she enjoy the glue from the stamps and envelope although it does has a slight sweet flavor.
Are you poopular? Do you pop out at parties? You need vitameatavegamin! And Gruber salad dressing! It’s so tasty, too!
I remember those terrible canned hams.
Lucy was much overrated. She's no Joan and, obviously, no Carol Burnett.

I understand Joan 💯. Dieting is so hard. 😏
Joan was funnier than Lucy...Joan was hilarious!
7 pounds in 3 days? For a woman, or a man, impossible. I have been on many diets, and the best I have done, safely, was 1 pound a week.
You can definitely lose more if you eat 4 hour and don't eat for 20. Speaking from experience.
Most of it would have been water weight.
any day I was on a diet and I made the same that in 09:26 but with a lipstick.
The domestic goddess lol
Next year marks the 100th anniversary of his birth.
Who's birth Abe Lincoln?
Is that Jim Nabors??
Jim Backus, as it says in the opening credits.
Actually, I am distaff, not dude.
She's got a big nose,,!!! Lol !!
This episode has not aged well at all
Why is that?
Joe: Dabs Greer?

Joan and Lucy was in the same era but I have to disagree. Joan and Lucy was equally funny and dizzy.
