Album: The dark side of the moon (1973)
Lyrics:
Ticking away the moments
That make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours
In an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground
In your home town
Waiting for someone or something
To show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today
And then the one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun
(Solo)
And you run and you run
To catch up with the sun
But it's sinking
Racing around
To come up behind you again
The sun is the same
In a relative way
But you're older
Shorter of breath
And one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter
Never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught
Or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation
Is the English way
The time is gone
The song is over
Thought I'd something more to say
Home
Home again
I like to be here
When I can
When I come home
Cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones
Beside the fire
Far away
Across the field
Tolling on the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spell...

This is literally the best album ever recorded in human history.
Pink Floyd stories? I got one. I was taken to see PF on my 18th birthday on Oct. 15th 1971. At Winterland, and I was right up in the front. You could get to the front of Pink Floyd shows back then because they were so fricking loud that nobody wanted to sit that close to the stage. I took a hit of acid and I remember only one part of the show, Echoes, and how I had never heard anyone play the drums that powerfully before. I was staring at Mason the whole show, probably because he was the only one moving on stage. They used to just stand there, like statues. I remember the weird grin Gilmour would get on his face when he was into playing something strange. One of the greatest concerts of my life. Never saw them again, sadly....... the ringing in my ears went on for days......
I'm the same age as you--I turned 18 in 1971 also. I also recall going for seats up front at Pink Floyd concerts. It was fantastic to listen to them. I also remember how they kind of just stood there, almost motionless. That's back when music performance was suppose to be very meditative, or instead maybe we all, musicians and audience, were so high that it was just too hard to move.
I got the first model of Sony CD player in the US, but I could only find the Dark Side CD in Tokyo back then. I of course got the SACD 5.1 surround version when it came out later, and I still have it.
Not surprisingly I'm pretty deaf now.
How I wish I could've had the experience of seeing them in their heyday. Alas, I was born in 1983.
Es excelente no habrá otra generación como esta
Listening to this using studio headphones it's crazy, the audio was recorded very precisely and the sound explode in a creative way in both the speakers. Every second something new kicks in, it literally gave me goosebumps.
day of the recording you in the studo Diakoe
Just realised that when I started listening to Pink Floyd in my mid teens it was actually years of loving them before I even knew what any of them looked like. Talk about letting the music do the talking.
My god! What a GREAT work you did here, my friend. I've listened to this song one billion times, searched for various versions, but I've never found something so pure a polished. This remastering extracted all the beauty and power of this song. You made my day happier. Thank you for that. God Bless you. Greetings from Brazil.
The guitar solo evokes for me the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. It tells of a man coming to terms with his own mortality and the seeming futility of it all. Then again I may be full of crap.
I think you are right and full of crap at the same time.
You can interpret the music however you want. Music is different for everyone.
I'm experiencing that very thing.... with Pink Floyd of course. Going on 50 yrs with these guys.
I saw these guys in a soccer stadium Cologne, Germany Summer 1989. Never seen so many ppl in one place. The crowd gave us hashish to experience the concert fully :)
This was recorded in 1973.
Pink Floyd was the first band ever to perform live using surround sound, and this explains very well why they needed the surround concerts.
Mr. Gilmore is a very under rated "Lead Guitarist"! Oh, I forgot his vocals. "The sun is the same in a relative way, but your older"(pure poetry, and philosophy).
10 years ago I simply enjoyed the music. Today, when I can relate to the lyrics so much it's entirely different experience.
Happened to me as well...
I love lyrics, but its the music, the music leaves me there
10 years have got behind you…
hearing this for more than 40 years and never get tired of it, you will have to listen to the entire album. it ends like it starts, yes its a masterpiece
No really, please help me out here..I just cannot understand how on earth two people dared press the dislike button after hearing such an unforgettable, everlasting, wonderful, magical, and utterly overwhelming masterpiece
Because its not actually surround sound...
do you even have a surround sound setup?
Still.. it's a killer track. Let's enjoy ;-)
UA-cam cannot stream surround sound, so whoever posted this actually knows nothing.

The best music ever 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤩
It's also amazing if you listen to it in the car at a very high volume
and very high :D
If you drive a cabriolet on the route 66 in Usa!
Who else considers this one of the best and most poignant songs ever.
It's magic, a balm to the soul.
Most of songs are incredible especially on the first part.
All Pink Floyd songs are incredible 😊
This song is still my favorite song .
Bam Bam Bammmmmmmmm
As I wrote elsewhere ... I'm from the Czech Republic . Pink Floyd once played in Prague in 1994. I have not seen is never at a concert . Unfortunately. But the music playing genius and this song is great
I have a DVD , but being at the concert is definitely better :-)
I saw pink floyd in toronto in 1994 as well, nothing has ever come close to them in regards of musically and theatrically.
In 1980 I was shopping for a new cassette deck. not too expensive, about $300. I had a TEST cassette with me to check out the decks. It was Pink Floyd "Dark Side" excerpts. I was in TECH HIFI at 12 west 45th St, NYC, it was lunch hour and the store had six sales people and about fifteen customers. The decks on display were hooked into a Marantz 1090 integrated amp (45wpc) and a pair of Large Advents. My deck choice was an ONKYO TA-630D.
I put in the tape, hit play, cranked up the volume and listened. The music started and it was the cut "Time". When the chimes kicked in I noticed EVERYONE in the store was staring at me. All conversation had stopped. The manager behind the counter smiled and gave me a low "thumbs up", he was obviously pleased. I wonder how many pairs of Advents were sold because of me? Oh yeah, I did buy the Onkyo deck. This was on July 25th,1980. The TA-630D cost me $260, I still have the receipt!
Cool story!
I love reading this kinda stories, thanks for sharing :)
Quite a story dude!
You sound like a cool bloke,,id like to meet you for some reminiscing
I love hearing these kind of stories! Hope you still have that deck :)
P.S. I was born 18 years and one day after you bought that deck!!! Lol. I’m a young guy but I love all the old music!
Still one of thee most spellbinding guitar solos I’ve ever heard.
Via headphones this sound slightly edges Spotify
Hope I will never get enough of this song.
Adoro!❤ Grazie si sente davvero bene in cuffia Sennheiser HD 660s 🎶❤️

Listening on a 21 year old Pioneer receiver with a 23 year old Bose Acoustimass 10 system. 🤘🏼
This sounds most excellent with headphones in 1080p. Thank you. I just subscribed your channel. ROCK ON!!!!!!
@@MegaChuck212 YES doing that right now actually!!!
omg. I could not have found anything better - especially not for a 7.1 surround set.
Wow what a wonderful Talent
I'm listening to this Xmas morning 2018
best UA-cam version I've heard so far. Not perfect but not bad either.
Sat here listening to this in the empty house with my dog. Sounds amazing on my pioneer 5 channel receiver and dali speakers. So much so the dog looks confused by the channel seperation at the beginning
Sounds great! ❤
Thank you good job!!! Thanks for the lyrics too, its great to see them and listen!!
Far away across the fieldsThe tolling of the iron bellsCalls the faithful to their kneesTo hear the softly spoken magic spellsI remember hearing these lines as a kid and thinking, "What does he mean?"...all these years later, I know exactly what he means.
I’m a kid, so what the hells do these final lyrics mean?!?

Enormous compression ? It stays an incredible piece of art.
Masterpiece............Pink Floyd a band irrepetible.........

Eterno quarteto progressivo!
Post the full version of this album. *PLEASE* !
argue all you want... Floyd is Floyd Life is good because of that fact
So so good x #RogerWaters
Pink floyd is nice and best
First time I heard this, they were testing the sound between Fleetwood Mac & Rory Gallagher concert in before the album came out in 1971 or '72. And of course Rory Gallagher was the headline band. Gallagher was one of the best ever. Rock on in heaven fellow Irishman
+tim true THAT WAS NOT CALLED FOR.
I think it was, as I could not slap him. He pathetically tried to call me out & now you are. So you can go away too. No apologies.
tim true Well you're a lambasting naccarcist who cares for nobody. Your potential employer would not like to see this kind of behaviour in the office.
Take rehab.
F to you. I'm my own successful boss. Now what? I'm done with you. You deserve no more of my time. Check your spelling POS!
Youre your own boss because no successful leader wants a piece of shit like you. What's your definition of 'successful'?
So I got some top of the line headphones and I am looking all over youtube for the 3D or just simply the best headphone experience, of course I knew I could turn to old classics like Floyd and Zep but I wanted to hear some really good stuff that is new. As it turns out the best I have found so far is 3D music from India of all places. I don't understand the words but they make the listener appreciate the awesome capabilities of new top of the line headphones. Anyone got any suggestions post the link below.
There is an Alan Parsons Quad mix of the entire album - no breaks between songs, as it should be - that just about compares to this. But yeah, with great headphones, this is fantastic to listen to.
tritton ax pro + true 5.1 and this sound, just so andsome !
UA-cam uses vp9 video codec. It is a lossy format and can at any given time only deliver a span of 20KHz. Therefore it is NOT 96KHz 24Bit. Maximum in VP9 is 48KHz sampling and 512Kbit variable bitrate. Though it can deliver up to 255 audio channels the compression and quality is far from your original. For those who like to know, the audio stream in VP9 uses Opus Audio.
Also youtube is only two channel with a phase so not ture 5.1
Almost 50 years old now.....
Buenísimo
EXTRAHYPERSUPER!
go into your sound card settings and enable simulated 5.1 you'll thank me later
just done i got hdmi from my pc in to the amp and it picked it uo in 5.1 i had the proper 5.1 file lost it years ago
This is obviously encoded in Pro Logic II, so anyone that says it's not 5.1 should delete their comments.
darkside of the moon video unavailable :(
IT SURE AS HELL IS SURROUND! Remastered in 96K/24bit DOLBY PRO LOGIC or Pro Logic II . However no way this upload stayed at the source sample rate as advertised!
I can hear the compression clear as day and no way Gilmour and Waters allowed the 2011 release to be dithered the fuck out of on the remaster!
All that aside by far the best mix I've heard on UA-cam. (not that an audiophile has any place on you tube! LMFAO
Compared to all the Mp4's on here it's Absolutely incredible compared. Especially cranked up on all my rapidly becoming vintage gear.. (As original 5.1 Pro Logic is closely behind for that matter)
BEGINNING WITH my Hitachi 65" Ultravision projection as the center channel, (Best sounding TV EVER PRODUCED IMHO), my Bi-Wired 1991 Mirage M1 loudspeakers for my left and right front channels, my Infinity SRM's for a my left and right surrounds. And my Powered Velodyne S-1200-N Servo sub-woofer, Just Add the Dynaco stereo tube pre w NOS Telefunken 12ax7 and Mullard EL34 valves, a sick ass McIntosh 275 and a Crown Macrotech 9000i Idling for the M1'S + The DVD OF THE REMASTER OF COURSE.
Heaven can wait I'll be there already.............
I can affirm the opinion regarding the Hitachi 65" Ultravision Project TV as the best sounding TV, at least IMHO as well. Hitachi certainly did not overlook the importance of sound in a TV.

Download Link for the full "Remaster - 5.1 Surround 96 kHz/24 bit - Immersion version" ? :)
TEN YEARS???? TRY FORTY YEARS !!!!
how can I listen to it in 5.1? It's only coming through my home theater in stereo...
Lloyd Cadrain turn on Pro logic
I wish this song had 30min. From 5:56 they could had made other 10min of music, I sure would listen and turn inside out with the guitar lol
For my Friend « hg.wells »😎
Does 5.1 work straight from the UA-cam app?
Thank you, but the sound is a bit more treblish than on my flac files, for example, on them you can hear the bass synth much louder than the guitars, and I'm setting my equalizers level, so it can't be that... But still, its a good effort in an otherwise low-quality music world :)
Does UA-cam even do surround sound?
yes 7.1 Dolby Atmos I m listening to them right now
the sound is pretty clean and highly clear, the surrounding is excellent but i don't think it's 5.1
but this isn't in 5.1, youtube only allows stereo
The AC3 channel is only stereo.
This music would never make it today. Most people [kids] are too impatient and want to hear the chorus early on and hear nothing but the chorus a zillion times. And at 7:04 in length, that's the death nell for a modern "listener". Shameful. Sadly, the great music days are behind us.
the 5.1 is real
This is not in Dolby Atmos.
Sounds good, but pretty sure youtube doesn't support 5.1 / Surround unfortunately.
Its digitally enhanced to sound like surround anyways so it works anyways
@@freddy6837 Still it's misleading / fake news. :D
@@BensCoffeeRants misleading yeah
This is not 5.1 surround sound. Just stereo.
Ear rape at 00:20:00 if you have vol all the way up with buds on. You've been warned.
Pink Floyd , there will be never a dream like them, all this trash everyday is sensless to listen!!!
this isnt 5.1
it maybe 5.1 but its playing in 2.0 stereo. that sort of kills it, non 5.1 sounds better
Гонит автор, звук не 5.1, звук 2 канала. Проверил программкой.
UA-cam does not support 5.1
yes it does
Maybe you are right but not on Google Chrome went through some Forums and they said that some thing doesn't run right and you have to bla bla bla bla rage balh balh blah stupid google. Use different browser done blah balh
bystry96 yeah for example microsoft edge supports 5.1 and dolby
I'm with Firefox and it works just fine.. :)
Opera supports 5.1 perfectly
This is not 5.1, 100%.
Stereo not 5.1
youtube not support 5.1
youtube only supports 2 channels
🤔🤔
it is not 5.1
Not 5.1
E,F#....
Sounds ok but somehow too much harmonics..
do you have 5.1 set up ?? that what this album is
ok i found the problem. you tube does not support 5.1 it coverts all to stereo 2 speakers. google chrome is same. firefox OS does support 5.1, so best off downloading from a torrent site to get the 5.1 affect. you only getting 2 speakers here in stereo
Unlike the original, it sounds flat and compressed .Not Good , sorry
I only hit dislike because youtub will never be 5.1
The remaster is straightly shit out of 10, it's unbearable to listen to it, TONS of treble that made the song really really harsh, the song became thinner than any pink floyd song I've ever listened to, it's like the same noise but they just wiped out deep frequencies and put ultra sonic bullshit instead...
