I've felt like since I have been old enough to vote that the presidential election has been a contest to see how horrible of a candidate the major parties can nominate.
it sucks that in the US the choice is limited to one person out of two parties since it’s impossible for a third party candidate to win an election. If there was a voting system like most of the EU countries have in place instead of the "First Past The Post" style voting system, the democracy in the US would be actually representative and you wouldn’t be forced to vote only for seniors.

Hiliary Clinton made a email with goverment docs, with very few of it being labeled classified, which brought benefit of the doubt.

A lot of people don't know that criminal intent is actually a key piece of charging people for crimes. Intent absolutely matters legally. It is true there were other cases of mishandling classified data, on both sides, and no one with a lick of sense is arguing that. And those from both sides fully complied with requests to return the documentation. Once the investigation concludes that everything has been returned and they cooperated, they don't press charges. Trump is the only one who went so far to not only not return them despite repeated requests from NARA (it's not like this was rushed, they asked multiple times) but then also hid a good portion of the documents and caused his lawyers to lie that they had all been returned. That's why they were able to break the attorney client privileges, because the lawyers were involved in the situation to that extent. I don't know if Donald Trump thought NARA wouldn't have records of which documents existed, or if he thought they'd just let it go, or something, but if I check out a book from the library they are going to notice I didn't return it, no matter how often I say I did.

Trump had them for less than a year and was in communication with the FBI to get them back. The FBI was the ones who locked them up at his place in Florida. Those are just the documents that those agencies can allow in a redacted form to enter into the court record. Everything else is too sensitive even if redacted.

There is a process in which they will argue which documents can be shown and which documents can be summarized or whatever steps can be taken. There is a chance that a couple charges would be dismissed if the government doesn't want to declassify them.
But getting a jury that either already has a clearance or getting them a clearance would be very prejudicial because one of the main drivers involved outside a background check is hammering in their heads the importance of not disclosing the contents and the law involved. The judge will instruct them on the law.

They did get Biden, Biden announced he had documents from when he was under Obama and let them in his house he pointed to the locked box and they got the documents. He didn't try to stop the FBI or have the documents just open on tables. Also Biden is a sitting president so he is diplomatically immune to stuff like that unless impeached. He isn't impeached and didn't do anything obstructing the FBI and that is why he isn't in more trouble.
Hillary has been put accountable for a lot of the things she has done like Benghazi. She was in court but didn't face any jail time.
Not exactly sure what Obama did though to warrant anyone going after him. He didn't do anything necessarily illegal just over promised on stuff like war in Iran, and fixing the housing market. None of those are really illegal as much as misleading.
Biden and Hillary are... questionable to say the least, but Obama never commited crimes, sure he was controversial at points, but nothing illegal that we're aware of (also there is no proof that any of them are actual criminals, unlike Trump)

Biden - Hunter Biden Burisma scandal. Hunter Biden gets appointed to a board with an energy company no prior experience. A special prosecutor tries to look into this due to suspicion of corruption. Joe Biden, VP at the time, threatens Ukraine that he will withhold congressionally approved funds from them if they don't fire the prosecutor. The Bidens also have other suspicious business dealings in China. Of which details are still coming out.
Hillary - Operated an illegal email server in her basement containing classified information when she was secretary of the state under Obama. The server was hacked, however before it could be investigated she destroyed all evidence including phones that she and her staff used.
Obama - Bombed US citizens in Yemen, a country we were not at war with. To this day no official apology has been issued nor has a justification been given. Obama was the one who ordered the strike.

That's not how it works. 37 is all there was. There is a process in which they argue over what to show and what not to show. It may be that they show everything, show redacted versions, or the government drops specific counts for specific documents they do not want to show. It makes no difference to the amount of time to be served either. All sentences will be tolled concurrently or at the time so actual jail time will be the same if he is convicted of one charge or all of them.
The reason for multiple charges is in case he gets off on some or an appeal overturns a couple. If that would happen, he would still serve the remaining sentences.
It gets worse. Each document he’s being charged with stealing has to be made available to defending counsel during discovery. So the REALLY dangerous top secret documents aren’t part of the indictment.
I can't wait for the rest of them to be charged too.

Most people will agree that the law should be applied unanimously despite wealth and power! However, can you give me an example of other US politicians that held classified documents and did not cooperate and did not return them? Because, as case facts that are readily available on the web, politicians like Joe Biden and Obama for example who were asked to return DEclassified documents complied without fuss or muss, whereas Trump is being charged because on the several occasions he was asked to return CLASSIFIED documents, not declassified, but CLASSIFIED documents, he did not do so, only returned some documents, etc.
Ironically, he was actually given several chances for the law NOT to apply to him! It’s the reason all the other classified documents he DID return aren’t part of the charge, even when him having them was already illegal! They did not have the law applied to him when they could have, and likely should have! And, they would have continued not applying the consequence of the law, and would have continued to treat him as though he is above justice and above the people, above the rights and freedoms of the american people by skirting justice and due process,

The transcripts and emails are pretty solid. Theres proof that he 1. Knew the documents where not declassified (which he lied about)
2. Hid the documents from the agency requesting their return and lied about having them.
3. Kept the documents in an easily accessible unsecured place and allowed state secrets to be transported employees without security clearance (tons of photos of the boxes in bathrooms and such)
4. Lied to the proper authorities about returning all the documents when he knew he hadn’t returned even half of them
5. Lied to his lawyers about giving back all the documents so the lawyers were implicated in a crime
plus some other stuff

Also because he is a sitting president currently and the representative of the USA, he has diplomatic immunity for the reason you can't arrest the government. So without impeachment not much can really happen to him. The other thing is called the FBI on himself and cooperated presenting the files that were in a locked box rather than strewn about in a country club, and no evidence as of yet that any were shared. That's the big one.
Because Biden (and Pence) fully cooperated with the investigations and turned over all documents when the government asked for them back. Note that prosecutors here are *only filing charges* for behavior that occurred after their first attempts to hey the docs back and not over any he willingly turned over.

The current charges are for keeping sensitive documents in an unsecured location. Treason would be if they found proof that he was selling those documents to russians or something similar.

Well that's the important bit--the reason it's only 31 counts and not hundreds is that these are the very few that can be declassified enough to be used in court. We will probably never know the number of documents that are *so sensitive* that the government can't even acknowledge their existence. But with these you can already go online and read excerpts and summaries that make it clear what the documents contained.
No one gives a shit if you believe the charges Adren, there's only 9 people who's opinion on that matters now.
So with Trump's case there are fundamental constitutional questions involving his ownership of the documents and he didn't necessarily do anything wrong.
But with Biden and Hillary it is unquestionable that they are guilty.

However. There are laws that congress passed intending to change that, but they were not ratified into the constitution, and most legal scholars prior to 2020 would say they don't apply and are invalid

There's 31 documents in the "Goldilocks zone" that are sensitive enough to be worth charging but where the government can actually acknowledge their existence and declassify enough of them to be presented at court.
This is so irritating to me because I had several different crimes done unto me and when the FBI looked at my evidence they told me I couldn’t sue for each one, I was told I had to pick one!

If a president wants to declassify a document, they have to notify the appropriate bureau. For example if Trump wanted to declassify nuclear secrets he would contact the pentagon. Trump never notified anyone he was declassifying the documents he had.
The boxes piled up in his bathroom explain why he complained so much about having to flush the toilet 10 to 15 times rather than just once. That and he’s just that full of shit.
