To enjoy the best of the beaches you really want to go on offshore winds. So head to the west coast in Easterly winds and go to the east coast in westerly winds. It will make the world of difference to the enjoyment of your trips with no wind issues and better weather. But good on you for pushing through the average conditions.

You would love the Wild West Coast of the South Island.I have binge watched all your videos, and have loved watching your adventures. You certainly know how to live life to the full.
Loving the videos guys. Welcome to NZ- still a long way off from cossie season though, lol. If you ever end up in Kerikeri at some stage my hubby and I will stick you guys for a coffee.
Thanks Gabrielle! Lol, we couldn’t wait any more and went for a swim yesterday 😅 Sounds awesome, maybe you could send us a DM on Insta or Facebook so we can stay in touch?
Awesome reminder shots on how spectacular our Northern West Coast is. Being exposed to the rugged weather like it is and yet still a beautiful place to visit. Thank you for your sight-seeing adventures in my back yard, I truly appreciate them. long may you continue.
And what a beautiful backyard you have! Northland is just stunning and we were so happy to finally get to the west coast 😍 we’ll definitely be back, I really want to see that forest!
We’ve been to beautiful Waipu, really love the vibe there! We’ve been to McLeods pizza barn, is that the one you’re referring to? We loved it there, the pizza was so delicious and Craig loved the craft beer 🤗
Love seeing your enthusiasm for your new home in NZ, it's nice to be reminded how beautiful our little piece of paradise is. It's especially good since you've arrived in one of the crappiest wet starts to Summer we've had in years so if you're happy now, it can only get better from hereon! 😎
😂 love it…2nd honeymoon 😅 The landscapes are really impressive…and it’s amazing how different the west coast is compared to all the bays and tropical feeling on the east
@@BeingBedingfield the rugged 90 mile beach from ship wreck bay then northwards, and if your ever around auckland theres the iconic piha.....and theres so much more westcoast beaches....east coast beaches seem to be alot calmer compared to the westcoast side in my opinion.
Nice vlog (once again) guys - when you start looking at the Pacific Islands (which I know you will eventually do), I strongly suggest Niue as I think it would suit your travel style 🙂
@@BeingBedingfield yeah it's ok as long as you don't swim in areas where there are no waves, The places on a beach where the waves are smaller than average or don't exist are where the rip tides are. If you get caught in a rip, swim across not against the tide. Failing that just float. The rip( referred too as longshore drift by geologists) will eventually dump you back on shore. It's the process by which tombollos are created. Eg mnt msunganui
Kiaora . next trip out west you should go check out waipoua forrest, a little north of the kai iwi lakes. giant ancient forest treks
Aww! I really wanted to go there!! We left a bit late that day. Oh well, we’ll have to back 😅🤗it really sounds amazing!
I caught Many a great Trout fly fishing in those Lakes In my younger days when I lived in N.Z.
My dad loves trout fishing! We’ll have to take him when he comes for a visit 😅

There us a famous New Zealand band called Crowded House and they wrote a song called 4 Seasons In One Day and that describes New Zealand 🇳🇿
What?! I didn’t know Crowded House is from NZ, that’s amazing 🤗 we’ll play that song on our next roadtrip 😅
Half Kiwi half Aussie band.

I was born and grew up in this area. I have spent decades at Baylys and the Lakes. In the 60s the lakes were right up by the road edge.
Wow! What a beautiful place to spend your childhood!
Can’t believe the lakes went up to the road’s edge 😱
We'll have to go there after christmas.... really beautiful spot guys, great video!!!
Thanks so much Kenneth! The landscapes are so beautiful there

Yeah, and we loved it 🤗 Can you give us a few more recommendations of things to do on the west coast?
Have a tui and a smoked mullet then come to Queensland and we will show u how beautiful it is here !😊😅

Welcome to your new home
Great drone shots
Thanks Waldo!

Thanks so much Phil...haha you're reading our minds :) We've already been looking at the islands hehe Thanks for the suggestion!
I miss NZ! We lived there for 8 years! ❤❤
Anyone know why Kai iwi lakes water level is still low after all the rain this year?
My guess is that NZ would be much much more colder than Durbs. You are closer to Antarctica
Yes, colder than Durbs…but maybe warmer than Hilton 😅
My backyard ...isn't it great ❤
It’s absolutely stunning 🥰🥰🥰
you should also try Matakohe Kauri museum, but take your wallet Craig as Im sure Chantz will want some Kauri gum carvings from the gift shop lol
Thanks for the suggestion, we’ll add it to our list 🙏 I’ll make sure Craig doesn’t ’forget’ his wallet 😂
Still happy about coming to NZ?
Yessssss 🤗🥳
Yeah be carefull west coast beaches can be nasty
Don’t think we’ll chance it, those waves looked huge 😅 but it was so beautiful there though 😊

I was just at bayleys beach 2 weeks ago. Sharkies is great
Ah nice! Did you go with a 4WD? Looked like people had so much fun driving up and down the coast.
