@@larryrulz5 The sound is good enough to burn on to a CD and play in a car. Of course I own the double album CD... but there are a few numbers here that are not on the double album. For example, Big Country is something one needs to hear with the windows rolled down while slowly descending the Blue Ridge mountains on a sunny summer day!
Saw them tonight (July 11th 2023) in Iowa City (bless them for coming to such an obscure venue). The line-up was: Béla Fleck, Michael Cleveland, Sierra Hull, Justin Moses, Mark Schatz, & Bryan Sutton. One of the brightest evenings I've had in years. I was just blown away. Sierra Hull was sublime. Works so well with Bela Fleck. That was the highlight of the show for me ~ they were bouncing off of each other briliantly. Bryan Sutton was superb as well. I'm guessing that bigger venues will bring in additional stars, but I'm just honored to have seen them all play in such a small venue. They may not view it as one of their best night's out during this tour, but it was hypnotic for me! Volume was a wee bit too muted due to the venue probably (the Englert is not what you call a happening place, nor is Iowa City anymore). But it was perhaps the last chance I'll get to see these great players. Great show. I'm still up at 3am buzzing from it. Now I'm going to enjoy this one. Great upload. May Bluegrass continue to thrive as Tony Rice said that it must at his belated induction to the Bluegrass Hall Of Fame. ♥
Man so cool... I just got my second stand up double bass in my kife had to sell the first one amd ive fallen in love again... Been playing for over 30 years... Teaching myself how to play that and violin with a bow... Its so much fun... I love music so much... These guys all rule... Music is magic.... Much love to you all... Its making me cry... I love music so much
Just got to hear them in KC and it was amazing. My cheeks are hurting this morning from smiling so much. The sheer musicality is just mind blowing, particularly given the complexity of the music.
Thank you for this. I was fortunate enough to catch them about a week before this show and the sheer artistry blew me away. Everyone in that band is truly exceptional.
SO thankful I got to see this band last summer. Almost all my most beloved musicians all playing together- and from the 2nd row in The Pit at Wolf Trap. Heaven for this veteran NGR fanatic.
Great job of recording this, thanks! I had the pleasure of attending this one. It's also much appreciated the way the songs are indicated in the recording.
There are 2 albums I listen to constantly while writing software during the work day: 1.) Vivaldi (his whole canon) on authentic period instruments and 2.) This concert!
I'm glad that Béla is taking another deep-dive into bluegrass for two reasons: 1. it produces some really great music when he does that! 2. it always launches him into something really weird and inventive afterward! This concert is awesome (as always) - but his solos make it seem like he's starting to get a little itchy after spending a year plus staying within the confines of bluegrass. Is something really weird, exciting and unheard of on the way next for Béla? I sure hope so!
OF THE 21 TUNES PLAYED HERE TRY TO HUM ANY OF THEM A DAY LATER . I BET YOU CANT , THE 3 TRADITIONAL BLUEGRASS TUNES ARE THE EXCEPTIONS , POLKA ON THE BANJO... , , , DARK AS THE NIGHT... , AND TENNESSEE , THEY ALL HAVE A DISTINCT MELODY AND NONE OF THE OTHER 18 DO . TOO BAD AS THEY ARE ALL SUPERB MUSICIANS
Thank you! I just saw them this past Monday and was just waiting for a chance to leave. Going a half hour to start without a word to the audience (or in song) was pretty intolerable. More like a combination of modern jazz and progressive rock on bluegrass instruments. Glad some are enjoying, but this isn't my thing.
Went to see this show 2 days ago here in Budapest with Michael Cleveland on fiddle. I m still tryin to find my jaw. Amazing musicians, amazing music!
There is just so darned much talent on that stage, I'm amazed that it doesn't collapse!
Gotta say - Stuart Duncan -IS DA MAN on the fiddle. Everything he has ever done musically is awesome.
Everything he plays is just so perfect
No kidding!
I saw Stuart in a jazz concert with Dianna Krall. He was the star of that show! Louisville Palace
The talent in this group of musicians from Nashville is the absolute best that you will ever hear. It doesn't get any better than this.
Love Sierra singing Dark as the Night.
This deserves a million thumbs up. These are all amazingly talented musicians, and thank you Bela for bring them together creating more amazing music.
15 Months later and I'm still coming back. I have the double album (highly-highly recommended)... but there is nothing like watching this!
Why? The sound sucks! Is this someone's phone?
@@brianlouks2496Really? It sounds lovely to me.
@@brianlouks2496 Not a phone

Well that's the magic of music, what a celebration!🎉

Thank YOU very much for this .
Stunning music 🎶
Great leader, band, repertoire, set, musicianship, playing, sound, performances, fun! Thank you for sharing.

Saw this show live in Salt Lake last weekend. Absolutely awesome.
Listening... WOW! I cannot articulate. Don't have words. My heroes, thank you.
The future of bluegrass is bright folks!
Fantastic 🙂🙂. Thanks for providing this great music.
OMG. This is excellent! Thanks for posting this.
First time I ve heard Bela sing .
So cool
This is soooo beautiful I had to take it in doses because I was becoming overwhelmed ❤😭❤😭❤😭🌟🌟

I am travelling from France to the Southern states next month May '23 . So looking forward to the music
Great amateur video of some wonderful musicians/artists! Many many thanks for sharing!!!
This album is the best instrumental bluegrass I've heard in quite a long time. That was the best version of Stomping Grounds I've ever heard!
Just pure shredding

Saw that June of 22 at the Adler! Incredible band! High energy bluegrass.
Best show I’ve seen in some time. Awesome!
That was special! So fun!!
Great music

Bluegrass always leads to good weirdness historically, just look at Jerry and early Dead shows.
the greatest
Just heard them at Walnut Valley. They were excellent!
Would be nice to see the names of the players listed - along with the songs . . .
Béla Fleck - banjo, vocals
Stuart Duncan - fiddle, vocals
Bryan Sutton - guitar, vocals
Mark Schatz - bass, vocals
Sierra Hull - mandolin, vocals
Justin Moses - dobro, fiddle, banjo, vocals
Sweet tunes, great band!!
Check out, THE DOGWOOD DISCOVERY, by Thomas C. Stuhr ❤️ 💀.
Great, so when are we going to see Bela and Steve Martin in concert together?
Hell ya brother
3:32 watch him smile
try to get to Rockport, Shalin Liu Music hall in July! Looking forward!
Man man all my heroes never have got to any but Molly once I love all thanks
Got to meet any
Bela and Stuart matching footwear
would you write here the musicians names please?
I hate perfection. I like mine gritty. Needin' a shave. Perfection is boring.
I Realize that this is an opening tune but after a while it gets a little boring. They should shorten it and get onto the good stuff

You mean to tell me songs that have been around for well over 100 years are easier to recall from memory than new, original tunes? That's fascinating
