Interesting how this video doesn’t focus on the Changan produced powertrain. It’s understandable why Mazda had to partner with them to produce an EV that has the ability to attract a different audience to the brand, but it’s almost a relief knowing that this isn’t a true Mazda. From a styling and design perspective with the elegant body work and the clean and luxurious interior, this is definitely a Mazda. However, looking at the tech, features and powertrain, it’s easy to tell that it’s a Chinese EV. It has been selling really well in China since its release, and it will probably keep selling well when it gets released in Europe this year, but Mazda fans need to understand that the EZ-6/6E is simply a marketing strategy to help them test the brand alongside other EV manufacturers. Thankfully news was just released that Mazda is building their own battery plant in Japan, which will be used to help them produce their own hybrid and EV powertrains, and the word is that Mazda will be debuting this tech in the next gen hybrid/electric CX-5. Hopefully they won’t be needing Changan after that!
It looks fantastic as expected from Mazda. The only thing will hold back the true potential of this masterpiece is the electric engine. I hope they'll release an ICE model. Edit: Noticed the touch screen and the removal of the physical buttons later. It's strange coming from a brand which defended physical buttons like there's no tomorrow. I guess they needed to cut costs somewhere.
This is not a Mazda, it's a Mazda styled Chinese vehicle. It's a shame that Mazda are badge engineering Chinese cars, as Mazda has the ability to make some of the best cars in the world internally. I hope the 3 never suffers the same fate.
That's good insight, I wasn't aware. Which Chinese vehicle are they barrowing the EV platform from? Edit: Found it - Changan Deepal SL03 if anyone's interested.
@@charlieyurtshirethe Deepal is a great EV, don't underestimate Chinese cars, the same happened with Japanese cars back in the 60s. China is the future! Great quality EVs 🇨🇳
@@AdamJRowen No you don't [see me bitching at all] because [the thing you are referring to] is not even similar [to what I am referring to]. Wtf It's pretty simple. The Bentley* Bentayga and the VW Touareg* are cars based on the same VAG platform, but have thousands of completely different parts to make them a Touareg and a Bentayga. This car is literally a Chinese EV with Mazda badges effectively slapped on it. Huge difference. Why are you so hostile?
its got the range extender in it (where you fill in gas), and the EV's battery life span is around 10 years, until then, you got nothing to worry about.
JDM 🇯🇵 enthusiast loving new Chinese EVs 🇨🇳 ❤
Long live Mazda. (Hopefully) waiting for the ICE models.

Horrifying to think about isn't it. I bet this sells like hotcakes in China and then it all goes downhill from there.
What's wrong with Changan Deepal? China is the new Japan! FYI.

@@alexms1993 horrify how arrogant you are
introducing rebadged chinese EV
too bad that you don't get to access the authentic one lol
I hope everyone knows this is a Chinese EV with Mazda branding on it. Don't be fooled into thinking it's a proper Mazda, at the very least.
ye I don't see you bitching when it comes to them Bently Bentayga uses the same architecture as the VW Tourague.
