Hey Rick! Sounds like a great project!! I used a 1/4 drive with a universal joint. Put a little tape around the universal if it has a little to much wobble to it. I also put a small piece of a shop towel around the nut before I slide it into the socket, this will help keep it from falling out. Good luck!!
Hey Ken! Can you elaborate more on why you like to coat the trip down with wax before install? And do you recommend taping the outside bed at the trim line to avoid chipping the paint? Thanks.
I like to coat the molding with a little wax because I have found it makes it easier to get finger prints off. yes, I would recommend some tape around the work area for sure. sorry for the delayed response, I havent been getting notices.
Hey Ken, I'm getting ready to do my 67, trim looks pretty much the same. The side piece next to glass has one self threading nut at the top. Sure looks like it will be impossible to get to the stud with the small access hole. Did you have a trick for that ??
Hi Rick, sorry for thw late reply. For some reason didnt see the question until now. If I remember correctly I used the old put a little piece of shop towel in the end of the socket with the nut so it doesnt fall off then use a universal joint
I would love a video on the back glass molding, just popped it off my 65 and most the clips were broken and it was just stuck to the vehicle with silicone. Around every corner on this thing I run into problems with the shoddy "work" that has been done to this car 🤪
I am looking for a steering column power glide indicator connector rod for my '67 el camino. i have pretty much exhausted all the on-line parts stores with no luck! figured before i start roaming the junk yards i would send this comment to every youtube person with a 60's el camino video. any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi Ken, I am doing a '1964 and your video was a lifesaver. I was struggling to remove the trim without tearing something up. Thank You.
Hi Robert. Your welcome and glad it was helpful. Thank you for watching and commenting. Please subscribe if you have not already.
I wish you could of shown how the long bed pieces snap to the bed brackets with more detail. Thanks
The chrome trim looks very nice. Changes the look of the El Camino.
You never said where you bought the trim from in your video. I can't find trim for my 66 that fits 😫. I would guess you bought at opg?
Hi Deb. I believe I got the molding from Ecklers since I've had bad experiences with OPG customer service and don't buy from them anymore
Cool build. Happy to have found ya!

Thank you very much! Yes, it changed the look a lot, I am very happy with it.
You didn't show how the long rail trim went on over the clips . Did you use a rubber mallet or what ?
Hey thanks!! Glad to hear that, hope you enjoy the videos.

Actually I did not use the rubber mallet. I was able to just tap it on with my hand. I would try that first in your project, hope it helps.

where did you purchase this molding kit ?
I believe I got the molding kit from Ecklers.
Hey Zachary! Thank you and glad I could help. Please subscribe to follow my future builds!
I don't have anything but I will keep you in mind if I come across something that may work.
Thanks for subscribing!
I purchased it from OPGI if I am not mistaken.
