One of the things I find so interesting about long road trips are the vehicles you pass, then you stop at a gas station or somewhere and you end up passing them again later down the road. I40 is such a nice drive too, but I10 through NM and AZ is still my favorite
Living in San Diego and seeing you $1.75 gas....... I'm about to make this journey, and even though gas is expensive everywhere right now, I can't wait to get east. What maybe be expensive for everyone else is a blessing to us!
I really enjoy watching these since I’m driving cross country from Palm Springs to upstate New York and interstate 40 is part of my route from Arizona to Tennessee. Thanks again! Oh btw Holbrook is one of my pit stops for a night.
Great drive. Nice music, too. Funny thing about the last track... I used to work in an office where they piped in "muzak", and that tune by Pat Matheny was in the mix on occasion. I never knew who it was until now. As soon as it started playing here, I thought, "wait a minute... I know this one" and it dawned on me that I hadn't heard it in years (since I was downsized many years ago from this company). No wonder it was an enjoyable tune.
You're kidding... I stopped at that very exit in June. Why? Because I had to get the bugs off of the windshield before hitting the record button for Window Rock. Cleaned the windshield right there along the entrance ramp! That video is a few weeks away.
Well done again! A bit of trivia: one of the turnoffs in the video has Fort Courage, where the old TV show F-Troop was filmed. I've been to the park once, but driven through several times. It's worth a visit, no matter what time of year you're passing through.
If the Interstate passes through the park, you'd think it would be one of the most visited since it's easier to get to. The main TCH here passes right through Banff National Park as a freeway with wildlife overpasses and it's the most visited park in Canada.
It kinda makes sense that they would allow I-40 to pass through the park- that section is no less boring than the rest of that area. Pretty excited for what's in store in New Mexico!
Another good video. Based on my Route 66 research, it seems like it is mostly nonexistent between Holbrook and the New Mexico line, as much of it is closed off, like through the Painted Desert Nat. Park, for example.
I get why though - despite Petrified Forest National Park - in case you didn't notice, you ALSO pass over the Dead River; not exactly a tourist attraction!
Menomonie Indian Reservation in northeast Wisconsin is the largest reservation east of the Mississippi River. The reservation is also a county. Both Menomonie County and Menomonie Indian Reservation have the same exact boundaries with small pockets of non reservation land dotted through out. About 98% of the county is also the reservation.
Right?! I have lived just 5 blocks north of I-40 in Amarillo, Texas and I have lived just two blocks south of I-40 in Greensboro, North Carolina. I have been at the easternmost end of I-40 in Murrayville, North Carolina and I have been at the western end of I-40 in Barstow, California.
Well, two weeks after this trip, oil prices dropped into the negatives here. That means gas stations and companies were, for a brief period, willing to PAY you to stock up on gas. The prices were low for two months afterward. Recently though, they've bounced back to levels only slightly below normal. At the time this video was filmed, oil prices were already decreasing. Prices are usually at $2.50 a gallon.

Greets from the Netherlands.

Joseph City, is where I usually stop for gas and lunch. Love's and Subway.

I didn’t know there was a Popeyes there. Next road trip to Phoenix I will be stopping by.

I been on theses stretches of I 40 and it still amazes me that this same highway is just up the street from my house way in North Carolina

I can't believe how insanely cheap petrol is in the US.

We call it gas ya Brit. MURICA
This was during the Covid lockdown, so hardly anyone was out driving.
Does the GasBuddy app work in Europe?
I'm not sure on that one.. I can see prices in the U.S. and Canada on my app.
