I have been to over 40 airports, USA only. McCarran is my favorite. So well organized, easy to get around, great shops and cool art deco design. Love it!
The slot machines that greet you when you get off the plane kinda throws you off. But with 4 visits there, it becomes a welcoming sign...you know you're in Vegas baby! Add in that dry desert heat that hits you when those doors open, it can be 95F out there but you'd still feel comfortable in denim Jean's.
You would think that with the reputation these taxis have for ripping people off, plus the competition from Uber and Lyft, that they would stop doing that to people, but it doesn't look like it
Its so much fun there, even if you don`t gamble. There is so much to do just sightseeing alone. If you can score a decent view, Treasure Island does a mock battle between 2 pirate ships in front of their hotel I think every 4hours. Night time is the best, theres pyrotechnics involved. Mirage has a dolphin sanctuary that includes the white tiger that use to go on show with Siegfried and Roy. MGM Grand also has a lion exhibit around their main lobby. Sharks Reef at Mandalay Bay I found was worth the admission price. The Shops at Caesars Palace is really cool to walk through, theres a show with robot Greek Gods doing battle. Now take into consideration, its been over 10 years since I last went, I`m not sure how many of these places are still around.
I have a better tip for Taxies, tell them where You going and to take You there the fastest way but that You'll give them a good tip, tell them to tell You how much it'll cost they know exactly so if they say $10, give them a $20 and whatever is left it's their tip, You'll be there at Hotel in 2 minutes, they need to make a living don't be cheap tip Drivers well but talk to them first so they don't waste Your time driving around.
I was at Las Vegas Mcarran Int Airport in 1976, when this guy approached me in the parking lot. He said I could make money rasing chinchillas. He said he had some of the furry little varmits in the trunk of his car. So I wnet over to his car and when he opened the trunk somebody hit me over the head a pipe or something. When I woke up my wallet, credit cards, and cash were gone. Somebody saw me laying there and called an ambulence and police. The cops told me this guy had been working the area for months they were unable to catch him. I left that night and went back to Phoenix. I would careful of people saying you could make money on chinchillas.
